 I went scouting the locations which I do every time before the class because it changes every so often and even though I'm done the class before things change, there's new exhibits and artwork along the way and the vessel itself is brand new.  My I just forget - and I screw stuff up occasionally, and so you just end up paying for this kind of thing. So I can collapse this and I can fold this up, so it's not protruding into my office space so much but nonetheless it's most people don't have a desk big enough to store this kind of thing.  So the upshot is that I find myself subconsciously avoiding doing any work with the matte ink because I don't want to waste money. I looked it up, and switching from matte to photo black uses 3 ml of ink (more than 11% of the cartridge capacity!) while going in the other direction uses 1 ml. There's a "Save Ink" option in the menu system that reduces it to 1 ml in each direction, but I'm not sure what the drawback would be. I assume it has something to do with potential mixing/contamination of the two inks

 If it doesn't work out, I can always switch back, but the potential cost savings is significant.

 Then the same thing has to happen again when you switch back. It's inefficient and costly, and I may not be an engineer, but I can't think of a single reason why this is necessary (especially considering the competing Canon photo printers manage to have separate lines).   My primary issue with the printer so far is the way it shares a line between the photo black ink and the matte black ink. If you were previously printing a glossy print and you want to switch to a matte paper for something, the printer first has to clear the line of any photo black that's in there, which wastes several dollars worth of ink. It's inefficient and costly, and I may not be an engineer, but I can't think of a single reason why this is necessary (especially considering the competing Canon photo printers manage to have separate lines)

 Then I went into a lull and did not print much or at all the past 2-3 months. Print quality deteriorated on my last production run and I ran all the required print head cleaning routines, etc. Epson Support referred me to a service center because 2/9 print heads were clogged and unusable. Service center informed me of the international purchase (via Amazon), no warranty and expect $200+/head plus service to repair if they cannot soak and clean the print heads

2nd one was bricked too - After 3 months it was bricked.  Called Epson, They said They will replace it with a refurbished one.

Right now, it simply won't, leaving the ink sitting on top in splotchy puddles, and me trying to learn how to load up a custom print profile. Not a happy camper about having to print the images on the back of this glossy card stock so that it doesn't get wasted, and using the laser printer to print the glossy side for the back.

Unfortunately, I am currently giving this highly rated printer only two stars. I had no idea after all my research to find the perfect printer for my postcards that this one would come with pre-packaged print profiles for ONLY Epson papers.
