However, I’ve heard conflicting reviews about the P900, some of which suggested it was a cheaply made downgrade from the P800. The P5000 has a heftier price tag, but as this is a long term investment, I wouldn’t mind paying more if it’s a better option in the long run. But I also haven’t heard the best things about it at times — people have claimed it prints excessively slow, gets clogged easily, etc.

The Epson’s quality is obviously lesser than the Canon - but I love how fast it prints 8.5” x 11” compared to the Canon, which is painfully slow (even when I adjust the settings). For some odd reason I’ve been told to get another printer to match the color quality of the Canon. I’ve narrowed it down to the Epson P900 and Canon Pro-1000.

The best I can do is the Epson Expression Photo HD XP-15000; while print quality is very good on this machine, you're going to need to step up to something higher-end for lower running costs and better print longevity. You might want to consider the Epson SureColor SC-P700 or SC-P900. But if you're actually printing somewhere close to 500 pages per month, most or all of which are large fine-art prints, you need to go further up the product stack and look at something like the SC-P5000.
