 This was the knife that led the way the esee 3 features a broad drop point blade with plenty of belly, which is kind of a hallmark of many of their designs, and it features 1095 steel they're widely considered to have some of the best performing 1095 in The industry and that's all thanks to Rowan special heat-treat protocalls, the nice thing about the esee 3 - is it's very thin, so it's ultra concealable. Great knife

 I generally find that above 6" I am unlikely to use the knife to its full potential, and below 4" I feel like I ought to have brought a bigger knife. Thus, ~5" is what I consider the Goldilocks length that is "just right" for an outdoor fixed blade. Conveniently enough, 5" is also a convenient size for mounting on plate carriers, chest rigs, etc. so that you're not forced to carry the blade on your belt

To me, this is the pinnacle of a "single best" *Survival* knife.

This knife is heavy so it probably would never be your EDC. However, if you need to hunt, strip wood, sharpen camping sticks or camping stakes, split small logs, etc. -- we do not foresee any issues.

The sharp 90 degree angle is ideal (especially based on blade metal-content) is absolutely perfect for firesticks/firestarter/striking rods for magnesium, etc.

Beautiful knife!

 The 3D handles are a very nice comfort upgrade over the older slab side design. This knife is well worth the price of admission and the warranty is second to none. The ESEE-5 is my favorite of the entire lineup.
