Fender Rumble 500 would be my best overall, all rounder amp pick. Light, loud, sounds good, versatile, well priced.

I'm looking for an affordable Jazz bass and amp.

I was a little disappointed by the sound of this amp. To my ears, it's not as punchy (or tight) as I would like. It has a bit of mud and hollowness that I don't typically like to hear. However, the price is outstanding, and I have no problem at all carrying it around

 I've been able to dial in a bit better tone by putting an eq/booster pedal in front of it. If the tone sounded more like the traditional Fender sound (like an old Bassman), I'd give it 5 stars. But unfortunately, it just sounds like a generic bass combo.

Tubes worth considering?

New amp suggestions

Great for my new Bass to use in a small space

I have a rumble 25 (8'' speaker) for practicing and rumble 500 (2x10'' speaker) for playing with people. I know everyone will say that 8" is garbage, but in my bedroom it sounds better than 500W on low volume.

What i mean by this is, of you had a really nice bass, fresh strings, etc, could using an underpowered amp hold the whole sound back? I'm about to receive a pretty nice ibanez 5-string, buy the only amp I've got is a Rumble 15 with a fair amount of haze/muddiness and very few tone controls, etc. Is it worth upgrading my amp, and if so, what to? I've been thinking about getting a Rumble 40 as it's not too expensive but seems pretty well respected on this subreddit.

Does bottlenecking still exist in the world of gear?

It’s a good amp. Has some good options like the overdrive. Sounds good, especially for personal use and practice. A little too quiet to be used within a band setting

Gear Thread: Week of Oct. 25

This is a nice little amp, buuuuuuut….it’s so quiet! I wasn’t expecting to rattle the tires off the roof, but I definitely expected more oomph. For reference, I use it with my Fender Music Master.

I’ve got a fender rumble 500 and used the DI once, and it works exactly as you’d expect a bass di to work.

I'm a guitar player turned bass so I'm one of those people that play their bass through a guitar amp on low settings in anxiety they're break their amp..   


I'm looking at DI boxes/preamps for my bass to record it but I **also** have a need for a cheaper bass amp. That's why I'm looking at purchasing the [Fender Rumble 40](https://www.fender.com/en-US/bass-amplifiers/contemporary-digital/rumble-40/2370300000.html) as it also has a XLR Line out.   


Does anyone have experience recording with that XLR Line out vs another DI Box? If there is a DI Box that can get me a better sound at the same price range (of 230) I would opt out for the DI Box. Appreciate any advice or suggestions! Thanks!

Anyone familiar with recording bass guitar using the Rumble Amps XLR Line Out?

for the tone, but the rig is beastly heavy and big.  I was initially interested in the Rumble 500 with the two 10" speakers (because I like the punchiness of 10 inch speakers) but when I went to the music store then only had the Rumble 100 watts. I tried it out and played through the amp for close to an hour (I play G&L L-2000 USA). The amp sounded great

..for the tone, but the rig is beastly heavy and big.  I was initially interested in the Rumble 500 with the two 10" speakers (because I like the punchiness of 10 inch speakers) but when I went to the music store then only had the Rumble 100 watts

..the amp is on the right side of the drums, and it looks very nice with the silver speaker cover.

Price-Tone-Weight Ratio - AMP is a Winner !!  (gigging musician)
