I was at the Sportco and found a Fenwick Eagle 8’ Ultralight/Moderate action rod. I had an available(kind of crappy) Abu Garcia Black Max so I spooled some 4lb mono and wanted to use it for 1/8-1/4 oz lures and plastic baits. It’s not a very good combo unless you enjoy the zen of untangling birds nests.

If it gets you out fishing that’s what’s important. If you want something more specific, grab a Fenwick Eagle and a Pflueger President 2500. It’s a solid combo for a little over $100. These are definitely more budget friendly but still nice enough that they remain relevant in case you enjoy fishing and expand your gear interests a bit.

It reeled in a 33” red fish, I threw it out for lady fish and yeah, the big fish got my smallest reel. I’d get a fenwick, the fenwick eagle is on sale right now on Amazon for 60 bucks, it’s a 100 dollar rod (I fucking love fenwick, I have 2 and they’re….. amazing and super lightweight and sensitive, but will wrench in beasts).
