 I traditionally fish with a lot of fast action rods, so I'm curious how that moderate is going to be. It definitely doesn't feel too whippy, but I feel like it's got enough whip to where I'm going to be able to cast stuff quite a ways. I'm just using a 1 64th ounce mule jig with a donkey tail junior because that's like one of my main go-to's when it comes to ultralight fishing. So I wanted to use this to test it with

 That was probably about a 15-inch bass. Not bad. Okay, I just got off the water. I rigged the kayak up on the roof right here and it's time to go home and eat some dinner

Affordable/Budget Set Up

Then a medium or medium heavy for the other fish. Look at the Fenwick Eagle with a Shimano Sienna reel, it will run about 100 for the combo. The rod has decent sensitivity you will need for trout and bass fishing.

 But I would say a slightly less durable rod. So if you only have 40 bucks, you know and you can only afford one rod or you're just starting out I would say get the GX to spend a little bit less money, get something that is utterly you know, practically unbreakable. Okay, because you don't want your rod break and not be able to fish for a while until you get money to buy a new rod. and then when I was I would do is on my second rod

 now they both screw down from the top. Take a look at this one which I like because I hold my rod usually just like this I know some people have kind of different grips I like to get my hand right there so I have a good grip because there they're not big long heavy rod so you really need to hold on tight if you catch a big fish on them. But the great thing about it is this called this is called a burl Court candle and it's really in my opinion. it's really a pretty, it's well designed, it looks cool

Hi everybody! Cory Here with team Kramer fishing and this video is going to be a review of Fenwick Eagles Spinning Rods specifically the light powered and the medium light powered versions. All right! So I've been doing kind of an intense testing of light power, six-foot light powered rods and trying to find the best sort of multi-purpose multi-species rod and that range that I could find so far. The kind of reigning champ that that I found and I've done a review on it is Shakespeare's Ugly Stick GX 2 6 foot medium power and I would call this a moderate action rod and I have a whole video about this one. This is sort of the champ right now and I'm testing some other rods to see if they can kind of be throwing it or at least get you know, equal to it

Spinning Rod Review: Fenwick Eagle

 I’m usually pretty careful with my rods and this one snapped near the tip bringing in a foul hooked carp. I realize that a 7’0 medium action rod is not indestructible, but I feel they break WAY too easily. Personally, I feel there are better options.

 I was really looks at purchasing two Elite Tech - Walley rods, but I have not been very happy with this transaction. I understand that things can happen, so i contacted Fenwik directly before writing this review. I have them an opportunity to try and chance my experience during this transaction, but the basically said to follow the warranty process for a replacement, or request another replacement. I guess I feel like they should have went a bit further on their end to make up for these two faulty rods I received in less than a month

  This is a trout killer.  You can cast a mile with the right reel and braided line.  Worked these fish in effortlessly.

Will probably run you about $120 if you don’t hunt for the deals. Hunt around online for the reel. Hunt around at brick and mortar for the rod (I don’t trust shipping rods personally); Walmart is gonna be your best bet imo.

For a reel, I’m gonna shill for Abu Garcia. I have their Silvermaxx baitcaster and their silvermaxx spinner and both are worth the money. Silky smooth and durable for a good setup, that’s not too hard on the budget (in the grand scheme of angling gear). If you put in the necessary work to bust one of those reels, I’d say you’d have gotten your money’s worth

I now want to get my first proper rod/reel, and relegate the telescopic one to my wife which seems to have also gotten hoked on. I am mostly going to be fishing fresh water for bass, trout, etc. I was planning on getting an Ugly Stik GX2 and was wondering if I should go for the rod/reel combo, or get the Ugly Stik and another decent budget reel, and if so are there any recommendations on a good budget reel?

As for the rod itself I was looking at Medium Power and Medium Action. Do you guys think that's a decent type of rod for a beginner who is mostly going to be fishing lakes and ponds for bass, trout, and the like, or would Fast Action be better? 

Finally, are there any disadvantages in getting a 2 piece rod as opposed to a 1 piece? I imagine the advantage is that the 2 piece is more compact, but are they easier to break, for example?

Help choosing rod and reel.

For hooks I have absolutely no idea about sizes or what other considerations I need to think about.  I think the hooks for a carolina rig would be different than the ones for a grub or worm but not sure on size at all.  Seems like there are weedless hooks for when I am in an area fishing in weeds. I think that generally the kits you might get on amazon would give me a lot of things I don't need though might be a good situation here even though I really have no clue what size to use

I've read the guides but they are very helpful but (rightfully) very flexible to area so I thought that maybe a specific example could be good.  Just need some basic options to show up and have some fun on a nice day.  I have some flexibility on budget, the goal here is to eventually be able to go camping and bring some gear and try to catch some dinner when we are on water.  So if spending a little more to get something a little more durable then that is OK
