 Then, the data on my iPhone 7 synced with my iPhone 11 Pro via iCloud and the other home's residents via HomeKit.  When trying to set up the device on my iPhone 11 Pro, the app said that a Wi-Fi connect dialog would appear, but it never did. It did on my iPhone 7. I assume that was the issue

EDIT: It's been a month or so since I wrote my review, and tonight, I had my first experience with the smoke detector going off.  First, at some point since I set up my second smoke detector, the one that was giving my my issues, Onelink updated their app to have iOS 14 support. I can't speak to whether or not that fixed the issue I was having, but I hope so.  Second, tonight while cooking dinner, we created a large amount of smoke fast

 It keeps doing this. A message on the screen says its because there is too much smoke. I can't get it to shut up, even though our windows are all open, our microwave vent is going and I'm trying to fan the smoke out. Eventually, after trying to silence it more than five or six times only to have it go off again, I take it off the wall, put it in the bathroom, turn on in the fan in there and close the door, leaving it there until we've finished making dinner

 At times I could get the smoke detector in my Home app, but couldn't do anything with it because it wasn't connected to my network.  What did finally work was using my iPhone 7 with iOS 13.3 on it. I downloaded the Onelink app to it and logged in

 In fact, I contacted FirstAlert about this and the were very nice - they opened a ticket o the issue - said it was known ... but then promptly closed the ticket without a resolution

 The OneLink Safe & Sound is not currently compatible with Samsung SmartThings. Since this is compatible with other wired detectors, I am going to try to incorporate a FirstAlert Smart detector which is compatible with SmartThings to see if that solves this shortfall. Stay tuned.  UPDATE: If you are installed other OneLink by FirstAlert devices and are expecting these to tell you where the fire / carbon monoxide is detected, they say they do but they’d o not

Installation was not easy

Installed in the middle of the house and works well enough to get music playing. Problem is that with the music playing you can't get it to stop because it apparently can't hear you. Drop the price and keep it about connecting with alexa for letting me know if there is a fire when I am away. Not worth having it for the alexa features built in

 We found this out when one of our other units triggered for 3 cycles which triggered our security system and the fire department ended up at our house, but we never received a push notification that our alarms were going off. I talked with OneLink tech support and the second generation units will only send a push notification if they are directly triggered, they will not send a push notification if the trigger/alarm comes from another linked hardwired alarm. That is if there is smoke or fire in the room near this unit, it will alarm and send you a push alert. But the smoke/fire is across the house and a standard but interlinked alarm is the primary trigger, don't expect this unit to alert you that your smoke alarms are going off

 Bottom line: It really is a stand alone alarm that will only alert you if it directly triggers, but not if others linked to it trigger. So unless you exchange all your units for a OneLink, don't expect push notifications unless this unit is being triggered. The unit works, installation was not horrible. But nowhere have I seen it stated that the push notifications are only sent if this alarm triggers, thus 3 stars off for pretty much false advertising in my opinion

We were having issues with nuisance alarms (First Alert tech support has been great helping troubleshoot these) but we wanted to have an ability to know when these were occuring, silence them if needed without getting on a ladder, and also liked the idea of getting push notifications if something was really going on. Installation of this unit physically was easy (other than having to be on a tall ladder), the pairing took a while but ultimately worked. The unit is delayed about 5 seconds if other units alert (all other hard wired alarms in the house trigger simultaneously with this one lagging about 5 seconds before it alarms, it also has a delay triggering all the other units). However, it does not send push notifications

CONS: 1. You will only receive a notification on your phone if this is the initiating alarm (the first alarm to detect smoke). If the Onelink is triggered by one of the other non-smart “compatible” alarms, you will not receive a notification on your phone even if/when the Onelink starts sounding. 2

 Connectivity/Setup issues. It was somewhat frustrating getting this to connect to WiFi/HomeKit for initial set up. I tried 3 or 4 times until it worked. Not really as big of a deal as other reviews have made it out to be, but it certainly was more annoying than most other smart home products now days

 I activated the upstairs non-smart alarm with smoke. All of the non-smart alarms in the house almost immediately began alarming as they should. The Onelink did not start to alarm until over a minute later - which can be life or death in a real fire emergency. 3

 It only reconnects to WiFi once a day or if it detects smoke. (Base on the network monitor) It relies on Bluetooth for Homekit. If you want a constant Homekit connection, the smoke detector need to be within 7 feet of a Home hub (Apple TV, HomePod, iPad). The Bluetooth range is extremely limited, I don’t know why

 Even different brands! So you can install one and other interconnected alarms will still go off when the Onelink detects smoke.  I am waiting for the one that has these three improvements/features.

I returned mine after it kept failing to work with Homekit. Went through the setup 20+ times, but the Onelink wired smoke detector showed no response on Homekit after a day or two. Contacted their support, support pushed OTA update, but issue remained.  The issue is it won’t remain connected to the WiFi, it disconnects from WiFi 5 minutes after the setup
