 A low battery warning does not need to be full volumn and it does not need to sound like a smoke or CO warning! When the alarm is blasting one naturally assumes leaving the area is the best course. So battery warning drives one from the building? Inappropriate design. BTW Batteries do not always last a year even when installed fresh so expect randomly timed adrenaline rushes, Random alarms seem the nature of all the smoke alarms I've ever lived with and this unit does occasionally blast one out. Bought and installed five of these and never could set the location so that is a wasted feature

Does not inspire confidence

These are fine, they do the job. However, when you put the battery in it goes through a setup where you can pick the room that it’ll be installed (so the alarm will say “there’s smoke in the living room”). Anyways, the setup volume is full blast alarm loudness. Why does the setup menu have to be so loud?! Even with ear plugs in, it’s still too loud

  Pros: Alarm for both smoke & carbon monoxide. Super easy to install & test. It's very, very loud--as needed for an alarm. Can be programmed to say a specific location in the voice alarms, great if you use more than one of these in a bigger house

Meant to order the version that is hardwired with battery backup, blame it on me looking at too many similar items. At any rate this model is alright! I'll simply replace the batteries twice a year.  Pros: Alarm for both smoke & carbon monoxide. Super easy to install & test

Whoops bought wrong model

Bought this to replace a previous First Alert Battery Operated combined CO2 and Smoke Detector unit in our hallway that finally came to the end of it's "life". This one fits on the same base-bracket that was already installed on the ceiling, so that's great. Setting this up is easy, but be warned, IT IS MUCH LOUDER than the previous unit.

 You can also set up a "location" for the voice command alerts, so it'll bark at you about what location you pick, if any, if there's an alert. Most important, I'm hoping that this newer unit REALLY knows the difference between CO2 and steam from the kids bathroom just a few feet down the hall..

I should have read more closely when I ordered it, because the information on the product on Amazon says nothing of the kind. I should have known that the price was too good for a unit that supposedly connects to the wifi. They seem good quality for what they are

I was mislead by a false review

 I had hired a person to dill them into the ceiling who brought his own ladder in January.

Double AA's died after 6 months

I bought 3 of these when they were deal of the day and got them for under $100! I really like how the detector talks and tells you what it is alarming for and being able to program each detector to a specific room is great! I ordered 3 and 1 arrived very obviously already opened. Even the screws that come to mount the detector were floating around loose in the package. It seems to work fine so I kept it to save the hassle of returning/exchanging.

So far, so good!

I purchased the SC07 alarm couple of months ago. Within that time the "chirp" to indicate low battery started beeping, but the batteries in the unit were brand new. I replaced batteries and then the same thing happened about a month later--beeping needs batteries, even though the batteries in the unit were new. Also, the alarm goes off sometimes for no reason we can find

too sensitive

Not a bad install,  At 6-1, I fell getting down (jus getting old n clumsy).  Test button, worked fine ! Operations light blinks, jus fine !  My decades old (4), hair trigger smoke detector, had seen better days.  What use to trip old faithful, does not trip this one.  So, how can I test it ? (A safe real world example)  That is my question ?
