 That was really cool to me, to give insight into that, and you can figure out how to improve your sleep. In any case, I highly recommend it. I've tried a couple of the other ones on the market, just the Strive is the one that's probably the closest competitor, and I think it's a lot better, and again if you click the link below that says Fitbit One by here, you can check out all the other things, and they even have a, if you click the link you can see, they have a WiFi scale, that you can get on the scale, it has a body fat percentage, and all that, and it wirelessly syncs up, so that you can record that data as well. In any case, I hope this helps you get fit like it's helped me get fit

 And then since getting this Fitbit, the Fitbit is just easier to use, it's smaller to fit in your pocket or clip, the accessories seem of higher quality. Also the data, like this is just, besides all the nonsense like games and all that that you can get on the Strive, this Fitbit, there's so many ways to access your data. There's an application that you can have on your iPhone, which I have, that connects with your Fitbit via Bluetooth, it connects to your computer via Bluetooth, it connects with the MyFitnessPal app. If you haven't checked that out, check out the MyFitnessPal app as well

Meanwhile I'm over here exasperated because I just bought the Vivoactive 4s two weeks ago after a month of research on the smallest, least obtrusive watch that looks more like a "real" watch, and less like sports equipment/smart watch, and they've come out with this just now. After using my Fitbit One for years after it was discontinued, it gave up the ghost this fall and I finally reconciled myself to a wristband version. No yoga, but I do hike and do short runs - but also wanted something less immediately identifiable as tech/sports if I'm wearing it daily, to work, etc.

I'm sure you'll get your innovative upgrade eventually - they know where their bread and butter is! - although I can empathize with your disappointment that it hasn't happened yet. Meanwhile, can't fault them for expanding into potentially new audiences, just a little miffed that I missed this release by just a couple weeks!

According to the5krunner (and seemingly backed by some evidence he isn't sharing), there is a new "Garmin Enduro" watch being released in February (but apparently not related to actual "Enduro" aka off-road motorcycle).  Sounds like it will be sort of a Fenix/Forerunner hybrid, focused on trail and ultra running?  (which sounds a lot like the fenix.. so who knows)

Either way, I'm always down for a new series of Garmin watches.

 My review is based on the iOS app but I do have an android and will try it soon.  Hardware itself  The biggest frustration I had with the Fitbit One was that I wanted to use it for daytime activity monitoring and for sleep monitoring. Using it for both activities included moving the device from my belt clip, taking it out of the rubber clip, putting it in the wrist strap, and reversing this process each day. It felt like a chore after a few days, and some mornings I even forgot to put it back on my belt after showering & changing

I had it two full weeks, got to know and learn it, and lost it swiftly. The fact that I lost it so easily made me decide to try Jawbone Up-- thinking that if I lose my arm, I've got larger issues.

Fitbit One and why I changed to the Holistic Wrist (Jawbone Up)

 Now, when you're on a bike ride and this is strapped to your waist, it's only moving this way, and so it only counts maybe half of the activity you're actually doing. Dissatisfied with that, I tried a few other things like squash, jogging, and skateboarding, and the results were all fairly similar. It seems as though the Fitbit only really copes well when it's dealing with slow walking. Anything else, and the readings seem to be not exactly what you'd expect

 It's not going to shock you whether you lose a pound here or there, no more than any other scale would. Throughout the week, to put the Fitbit through its paces, I've been going on various activities. The first one was a bike ride to see if the Fitbit could log a bike ride over two miles. Unfortunately, the actual pedometer only measured one mile in total, and that's because the Fitbit works by counting steps with this kind of movement

 So to sum up, if you need a sobering wake-up call to get fit again, then the Fitbit is definitely the device for you.

 Right, so I've now spent a whole day with the Fitbit and I've learnt two things already. First, I'm going to lose this wristband because every time you move your hand, it's actually logging steps, which makes the overall activity that you're logging a lot, sort of making you look a lot fitter than you are. So I'm now replacing it with this mount that goes on your belt buckle, and this way I hope to get a more accurate picture of what I'm doing. The second thing is, is I'm actually not very active at all

Ultimate Test | Fitbit One Review

 None of the wrist-based watches or trackers I've used have reliably done the latter. E.g, my brand new Garmin 955 Solar watch only captures about 80% of my floors climbed.

So, I know a lot of us are long-time Fitbit users who have had many devices (my first was a Fitbit Ultra!)

Does anyone occasionally miss the old Fitbit trackers and wish they'd make a comeback (with some updated features as technology has improved? For example, my Luxe actually does fairly well at tracking steps while I push a stroller, but the early wrist-based trackers did NOT work).  


Personally, I really miss:  


1. The Fitbit Flex line. The bands were unreliable (they kept popping off!), and I never actually had the second edition, but sometimes, I like the idea of just having a fitness tracker that doesn't have a screen. It does limit certain features like manual exercise tracking (which I prefer) and HR, but the simplicity is nice.  

2. The Fitbit Alta line. Sleek, slim design like the Flex, but with a few more features like manual exercise tracking and a HR monitor. (I prefer the Alta over the Luxe which I feel is the closest comparison even though the Inspire line replaced it)  

3. Fitbit Charge 3, Special Edition. I just really liked that purple and rose gold combo.   

4. The Zip and One line. They're not for me anymore, but non-wrist based trackers have their place. Besides, I loved the flower on the One and the smiley face on the Zip were such fun features and I wish they'd bring them back to other devices.

Which discontinued Fitbit Devices do you miss?

They are just in my face, and if I want to log my hydration (which I like doing), I have to scroll through a full long page of modules for food calculation. It feels manipulative and smarmy

I *can* log them into the software retroactively, but what that means is using another app on my smartphone (map my ride, or the cycling part of run keeper) to track my distance, speed, and time, and then manually transfer it to the Fitbit app. There should be a way to combine them, so one is using one small gadget (not a clunky smartphone) for tracking most common fitness, and translate that into overall fitness goals (for instance, the software translates all steps into flights of stairs climbed -- which is odd.

It lets you know, hey, when the battery's nice to get it charged, it doesn't take very long to charge even if you only charge it for like an hour, it's pretty well up on the charge

 But this is my very first Fitbit One that I had. I bought one for my wife about just after Thanksgiving time. To get her, obviously she likes to track her fitness things and she was doing a lot of tracking with her meal app, MyFitnessPal, and she actually tracks her meals and everything like that and all of her, how much calories she intakes and things like that. And so I thought, you know what, I know she monitors every walk she does with the GPS with like RunKeeper, things like that

 So even if you, what I tend to be doing is then, you know, if it's at night, I'll throw it in the charger before I go to bed and just take it off in the morning because I don't use it for sleep tracking right now, but if you did want to, you still use it for sleep tracking. Pick a time when you're going to sit down and watch a TV show or a movie, slap it in the charger then, and then after it's done, just pop it back out and stick it back wherever you use it, wherever you place it. So, but great little tracker. I highly impressed, but more than that, I'm highly impressed by the company because their customer satisfaction must be really high because I have, I had no problems contacting them

 HOWEVER, it should be noted that something like Runkeeper is very intensive on your phone's battery life, and it generally will not work indoors or in any situation where it can't get a stable GPS signal.  Does it record every step faithfully? I'm almost certain it doesn't. Out of hundreds or thousands of steps in your day, is it recording WELL? Yes, it appears so. I work in an office setting, where I spend most of the day seated, so this is easy for me to check; I can remember when I got up for a drink, bathroom, or for lunch, and on the activity graph of the app, this appears to be reflected correcly (in other words, there's a spike of activity each time I get up, and a large spike during my lunch break, but few if any steps recorded outside of this).  A nice addition to being a pedometer is that the One records floors climbed

 From what I've done so far, the One appears to record that pretty accurately. Now, I haven't done any consistent testing, but between a quick accuracy test (where I walked 20 steps, then checked it) and reviewing the recorded activity later in the day, it appears to work correctly. Does it record every step faithfully? I'm almost certain it doesn't. Out of hundreds or thousands of steps in your day, is it recording WELL? Yes, it appears so

Surprisingly Accurate

 And I think it's 100% worth it. A lot of other things right now, such as the Jawbone and the Nike Fuel Band, all these things are usually running a lot more than $100. Usually $200, I think. This is a fantastic option if you're not worried about wearing it around your wrist, which you could wear the night wrist thing all the time if you really wanted to set a trend

 I like freak out every time I go to the bathroom because I'm like, okay, where's my Fitbit? I don't want it to fall into the toilet. I don't know that this thing's going to survive in the toilet, guys. You probably should not assume so. Just like your phone, make sure your phone's not in your back pocket

 So if you're taking more steps, it's making note of you actually doing an exercise activity right now and then you can stop it by holding it down again. And the other thing is that when you go to sleep, you want to hold it down for two seconds so that it can start timering for while you're sleeping. That's telling it that obviously you're not really moving, so you must be going to sleep and it's going to track your movement throughout your sleep to tell you how many times you woke up and how good of the sleep you actually got. My favorite, favorite part about this thing is that it comes with a wristband
