 their each company is adding a few little features to kind of tweak out things and make it a little bit better than someone else. Nothing is like wow I gotta have that. But if you're already in the Garmin family like you've already have for example an edge cycling computer or a watch just for workouts and you want something to track the rest your day, this is a pretty darn good option. On the flip side of that, as always, recommend for activity trackers

 Now first Mantha thought I was actually kind of boring looking and you know it certainly is. It's not like super exciting looking like say the Fitbit Alta or Elf HR series was written more fashionable. It's pretty basic, but they're doing some pretty inching stuff behind the scenes of the author. the heart rate sensor and some of the new features are, so let's dive into them

 It does broadcast your heart rate over an plus, but only for in the special mode, so you can't use both a workout mode and broadcast mode at the same time, which can some other devices. Probably not a huge deal because again, it's not really that useful to broadcast that heart rate because it's so bad or in cycling. If you want to broadcast it for some other reason, then it's probably just fine. So as far as distance accuracy goes, it's actually pretty good as well

GARMIN VIVOSMART 3 Review! Hands-on details!

 It struggled with intervals on a recumbent bike. If you just want to see if your hr is going up, it seems ok but it's not super-accurate. There are several "default" displays which makes it easy to customize based on what you're most interested in (steps, hr etc). Battery life is good, it certainly lasts 5 days for me

 I looked at all of the ones out there and Garmin seems to get the best reviews in terms of hr monitor accuracy, along with the Apple watch. I didn't want to spend a large amount of money so the Apple watch was out. I was also uninterested in things like GPS and fancy apps and tracking. I've worn this watch for a bit over a week now, and here is my take on it (p

 There are several "default" displays which makes it easy to customize based on what you're most interested in (steps, hr etc). Battery life is good, it certainly lasts 5 days for me.  Cons: The watch itself is a dust and lint magnet and the strap is problematic. It doesn't look anywhere as nice as the Fitbit Alta HR

 This one fits but sticks out a little on the side, nothing too significant. The heart rate monitor is directionally accurate. It seems extremely accurate for resting hr. It worked pretty well for walking on a treadmill, TRX and Zumba

 It is featuring a completely new design both on the outside and internally and in terms of features. it offers everything that the previous generation Vivosmart HR and HR Plus offer with the exception of GPS The Vivosmart HR plus included GPS and we don't yet have that in the Vivosmart 3, which makes me think that the Vivosmart 3 will see a + version in the future that will include GPS But as of right now, it does not have that battery life on. the Vivosmart 3 is going to be a solid 5 days even with 30 or 40 minutes of exercise every day and that charge is delivered through a clip on style charger to the port on the back of the device and I was very shocked to see rapid charging on this about 30 to 40 minutes for a complete in full charge. The band is a unibody style band and it's very stretchy and flexible material compared to previous generation Vivo smarts, so this band is going to really grip and stick to your wrist a lot better than previous generations and it really just hugs the wrist in a very comfortable way

7 miles and I was able to know that because I was using my GPS on my other watch. Now that's actually not a deal-breaker because within the app, there is a way to set a custom stride length so you can kind of calibrate the device to your specific stride length and then get a more accurate distance estimate out of it. Now in terms of being an all-day fitness tracker, this did a fantastic job. It did an accurate job tracking my steps, distance, sleep calories, my flights of stairs that I've climbed or went up or down, and my active

 That's on par with what my typical jog looks like. Now, since this does not have GPS it uses a built-in accelerometer to measure how many steps you do and then it kind of estimates your distance based on your steps. So for me, it estimated that I ran 2.2 4 miles which is a 8:34 pace per mile and that was generous

 You'll also get the total distance that you've walked for the day. You'll also get the number of calories that you've burned for the whole day. This is both your resting calories combined with your active exercise calories. You'll get the number of active minutes for the entire week and you can even specify a goal and have it try To reach a certain goal, you'll get the number of flights of steps you've gone up

Garmin Vivosmart 3 - REVIEW & TEST!

This review is primarily for HR functionality.  I primarily do HIIT, plyo, and functional strength training workouts and I have a chest strap heart rate monitor to monitor those activities since wrist-based HR monitors don't do a great job for those types of activities. I wanted the Garmin to track steps, daily HR, and be able to not have to use the chest strap for every run, walk, or other more casual exercise activity. Comparing the Garmin HR numbers to the Wahoo tickr on a run or walk, Garmin is consistently about 10 beats lower than the Wahoo and my HR based on manual measurement

 Once I figured that out, I am much happier with the HR accuracy and overall use.  I've had some issues with syncing and have had to contact support, download software to my computer, connect and manually delete folders from my watch. That's pretty frustrating.  I also bought this since it's waterproof, and was really excited to track my swims

 I wanted the Garmin to track steps, daily HR, and be able to not have to use the chest strap for every run, walk, or other more casual exercise activity. As for the good: Its feature rich, name brand and and seems well constructed for the price. The accompanying app is good as well and even syncs with other apps you may use like my fitness pal to track calories and such. I also really like the sleep tracking insight it gives. Even with blue tooth on I have found I get well over the 5 day advertised battery life

This is a good value fitness tracker

 It's fine, but it isn't everything I loved in the 1st gen vivosmart. No matter the manufacturer, the reality is that a wrist heart rate tracker is just wildly inaccurate for workouts. It's so frustrating that the only fitness tracker/smart watch options on the market have all moved to a wrist-based heart rate monitor. I wore my older model w/ the chest strap and this new one during the same workout on a number of occasions and the Vivosmart 3 would tell me my heart rate was in the 130s when I was seriously exerting myself and more realistically in the 160s-170s

 In addition to my complaints about the HRM, the flights of stairs climbed is wildly inaccurate so I'd rather not have it at all. The vibration is also very faint so I often don't even notice it. With the 1st gen band, the "move!" and notification vibrations are different so it was clear whether the buzz was a phone notification or "move your butt" without even looking at the device. You also have to be very deliberate in your swipe vs

Band Breaks Easily

This product has a lot of nice features. I bought it primarily because I needed to track heart rate. Unfortunately it had two problems in this regard. First, to see your heart rate you have to turn it on by a forceful flip of the wrist or by tapping the screen twice

 Two things that seemed to make it even more inaccurate than that were wearing it too loosely, using it in the cold and hair on my arm. Given that the device detects pulse by changes in capillary flow in skin detected with a green light, these are not surprising. Cold decreases capillary flow and hair could get in the way. I shaved a place on my arm and worked out inside but still the heart rate could be way off

Nice features but heart rate measurements inconvenient and inaccurate.

 I did 45 minutes on a treadmill and while I was exercising, the watch was telling me that my heart rate was staying right around 130 but when it synced with my phone it said my highest heart rate during the exercise was 90 so only showed I burned 45 calories, way wrong. I'm going back to my original.

 On the old watch, the message would come up on the screen when you were notified of a message. Having 4 kids, I need to be able to see who it is and what the message is quickly so I can get back to patient care. Secondly, the screen on this one is smaller so you only see about 5 words of the message and you have to scroll to read more, also irritating since the old screen showed a lot more. Plus I dont feel the exercise tracker is very accurate
