Pros: appears and feels very well built using good materials; nothing seems loose or poorly manufactured and it has a nice weight to it without being heavy. Easy to hold for such a small knife. I actually like the security of the screw that holds the blade in place (can also be a pain - see below). Blade has nice, clear positive action locking into the unfolded position without any wiggle

 The method of unlocking the open blade to close is not intuitive or obvious and my reason for the 2 stars off. Have to be very careful closing as the hidden indentation one pushes to close is in the blade closing path. Would have preferred one on the back of unit as with others I’ve had. Decent Value, Well Built, Maybe Not the Safest Fold

 The only other thing I have to complain about is the build quality. It doesn't look like the thing will fall apart that, I can tell, but the hinge does ride on plastic washers that will eventually wear out and the main pivot is secured by a non-user-serviceable screw :( and the surface finish on some internal edges looks very poor (but its also a ~10$ knife). Other than that, I have nothing to complain about; I used it as my EDC. And the blade it ships with is extra thick for some reason which is nice I guess

I bought this to be the knife i could use on anything without having to worry about damaging the blade because it's replaceable. The ergonomics are good aside from opening the knife one-handed. I wish it had a stud or some type of groove to open it by. The screw used for changing the blade does somewhat serve the purpose of a stud but it's uncomfortable

it does what it says it does though it is an 11$ knife

 The last, but more important complaint is that you need a flat head screwdriver to replace the blade. It does make you instantly regret the knife when it comes time for a new razor.

Not sure what this is actually good for.

UPDATE 11.07.2021. The blade part gets floppy vertically and has lots of play up and down

2018. More play in the "blade section" (blade holder part) after the pivot Point. Cutting more branches applied more upward torque to the Pivot and more play is observable. The play even is to hear by now as it makes a rattle when shaking the knife forcefully

Its definatelly a worn bearing surface were the blade part meets the line lock. That means soft metal was used which wears off after 3 years of use open and closing. I see now what happened. Yep the edge were the line locks in of the blade holder is completely angular worn out

UPDATE 11.06.2018. I cut today some heavy and light plants (branches) and realised the blade part (after the Pivot Point) started to get a bit of an play up and down

65% Satisfied. I recommend it but it has design defects at the locking mechanism.

 I'll consider adding some kind of grip-tape to the handle. Overall: great value and build quality for what is basically a $7 box-cutter.

Love It So Far

 All in all a great little knife for the price. If they clean up the fit and finish, and improve the clip, I’d pay twice as much and give the product 5 stars. As it is, worth the buy and suits my needs, but it could easily be better if Gerber wanted it to be.

Nice idea, but poor quality and flawed design

 It will prevent accidental release. It is worth buying and when this one wears out I will probably continue buying them. As far as durability I've only had it a couple weeks and we will see but so far so good.

 - Blade guard allows you more handle room for your fingers for extra cutting leverage. - Blades are changed by means of a standard screw, not a quick-release mechanism. The screw is very small (shallow) so be careful. Also important to tighten it firmly or it may loosen

Lightweight and sturdy cutter alternative to a folding knife

 What keeps it from being a five star in my opinion is as follows: The biggest issue is that the blade is held in place by a tiny screw that is easy to lose. You'll need a small flat blade screwdriver to remove and replace the blade. It's not a tool-less, quick change. My second, minor issue is with the interior locking mechanism
