Now this is a little different and slightly more affordable than the 61 standard that we already checked out. It's a little bit visually different and it also comes with a soft shell case a really good quality soft shell case to sure dad as opposed to the hard shell case of the 61 version. Visually, it's a little bit different as I mentioned as well

 So let's check out the specs and see what we've got. So the body is your classic SG Mahogany finished in nitrocellulose. nice and lightweight thanks to the slim tapered body design. If we turn over, you can see the contours around here

Basically, I’ve got a relative who loves I’m playing guitar (I’m self-taught, about two years in now) and he wants to spend a large sum of money to get me a nice guitar. The most expensive guitar I own is currently $600, and he recommended to me a $2,000 minimum. As bad as I feel taking it, he said he only wants to really splurge on me once and wants to see me enjoy it and play live. I want to try to get something different then what I already have. I have a Epiphone SG, a Firefly LP, a Yamaha electric-acoustic, and a D’angelico DC-semi hollow. I’d to try to get something different, like single coils, Floyd Rose, etc. I also could sell the SG, get a nicer SG and maybe one other guitar for like $800 if I play my cards right. What kind of guitars do y’all recommend for someone who likes Gibson style guitars like me to try something different? I’m a big fan of 70/80s rock, blues rock, glam metal, etc. (Think AC/DC, Van Halen, Motley Crue, ZZ Top, Motörhead, GnR, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, etc.).

[DISCUSSION] What kind of guitars should I look into in the $2000ish range?

 But this guitar. Their pickups aren't super high output so they're not the best for metal, but they are amazing at rock and roll. That's kind of my first example of one of the cons that I actually like about this guitar. I like One Trick Pony guitars that way

 Uh, this guitar is great. I talked a little bit about it in my last video, which I'll link up in whatever corner it'll be in. I actually saved up pretty much everything I had in order to buy this guitar. My parents actually helped out a little bit when my birthday came around, so that's how I was able to get this guitar a little over a year ago

 They don't really dominate anything and yet they stand out in their own way, which is great. A lot of guitarists were actually just record with an Sg over something like a Les Paul. Even though say a Les Paul is like, say, their favorite guitar, they'll record the Sg just because in a mix they sound a little bit better. They're a lot easier to tame down and I'm sure a lot of you guys knew this is going to be brought up at some point in this video and that is Gibson's notorious tuning stability

 Uh, and especially the more you play it the less bad it gets because the finish kind of breaks in which is great. So if you buy one of these things brand new, you're probably going to run into that issue and then it's very annoying and I will tell you that the last pro I have is these things for a Gibson are fairly affordable. Yeah, in my opinion, especially for a Gibson guitar, these things have a really good value. This thing is only 1500 bucks now

Gibson SG - Pros & Cons

 Here's the headstock up close. In terms of the tuners, we get Grover Rotomatic tuners. We get 22 medium jumbo frets on a 12 inch fretboard radius and the material on the top of the fretboard is rosewood. Not only do we get the trapezoid inlays, but we also get some binding along the edge of the fretboard

 In terms of the neck profile, it's called rounded and it feels really great in the hand. It's not overly fat. I think this kind of shape will appeal to most players now in terms of its physical weight. It's nice and light

 So what we're going to do right now is replicate some of those parts. So one of the rhythm tracks I had the bridge pick up all the way up and the neck pick up just a little bit down from all the way up on both pickups and it sounds nice and chimey. Here we go: [Music] Love that tone over the neck with the volume all the way up. Now if I back the neck, pick up down, have a listen to this so it's really dynamic

I'm debating on buying my first Gibson this weekend and going with an SG model. Thing is, I already own one of the Epiphone "Inspired by Gibson" SG models and wanted to know how much higher quality the Gibson would be. I'd be trading in the Epi for a discount. 

I've always wanted to own a Gibson and never had a guitar Made In the USA after playing for 14 years. 

Will I notice a huge jump in quality?

[Question] Is Gibsons quality worth the price?

 This beauty is the Gibson SG standard, so undeniably my favourite guitar in the world because it looks so bloody sexy. That look is just such an iconic look. I know Les Pauls look great and Strats look great, but a bloody red SG man, you cannot get better. Mahogany body, mahogany neck without the maple top like a Les Paul gives it a little bit more of a warmer sound, but because it's thin it gives it a bit more of a snap

 Gibson 490T and our pickups, three way switch, one volume for each pickup, bridge and neck, bridge and neck tone controls, super simple, tunamatic tailpiece, tunamatic bridge, stop tailpiece, Grover's, SG, this. 12 inch radius, radius board as well, so it's super easy to play. You can get ones with some more vintage vibe, but it's 12 inch on this stand. All right

 So those are a few little sounds of the S3, both clean and a stored and a little bit of a loop just because I can't stop playing these things, they're amazing. They've got such a unique snap to them and I love the pickups that are in them. So so good. One thing is though, everyone complains about them neck diving

2019 Gibson SG Standard, Heritage Cherry Review - Last chance to get one!

Try a Gibson SG or Epiphone SG.  The neck literally is just barely attached to the body, so the frets are super accessible.  Plus, I think, it has a short scale length neck which may be easier for smaller hands.

As the title says, which guitars have good upper fret access, especially for people with smaller hands?

 whereas with the Gibson with my hands here for playing all my tone controls and volume controls and selector switch, it's all the way down here so no issues with that at all. I Actually think the manual has a really great quote in it somewhere I was briefly reading it and I think this is a brilliant quote. It basically says your Gibson is a durable instrument. it's likely to outlive you if you take care of it

 Look after you guitar and you'll probably still be around when you're not, then have all the specs and the certificate of the guitar signed by the people in the factory and stuff like that. and another little search which I thought was really nice was an actual photograph of my guitar in the factory I didn't know that Gibson did that I don't know whether any of the guitar companies do that. never seen it before, but there's my guitar in the factory and yeah, I quite like the fact it's not even just a printout, it's an actual photograph on proper photograph paper. I thought it's a really nice touch from Gibson I'm gonna assume that that's the Gibson thing, but I really like that so I'm gonna keep hold of that I think I was great

 Sometimes if some strumming like that, I might accidentally hit the selector switch and switch pickups during a song, which is never good, That's always something that's bothered me. but I've kind of just got used to it. whereas with the Gibson with my hands here for playing all my tone controls and volume controls and selector switch, it's all the way down here so no issues with that at all. Gibson SG Standard 2019 Review/Demo

So yeah I'm considering getting a Tribute, the style of music that I'm interested in sounding like is neo-soul, so no distortion, nice reverb and tone, loop chords and then soulo over the top of it.

Kinda like Melanie Faye and Josh Lepulu and maybe Tim Henson stuff if I really get into more math rocks clean guitar.

P90's seems to be brilliant for distorted solos but I don't see a lot of clean players using them.

Chris Buck got awesome dist-lead tone on his Revstar with P90s. 


But the main focus of this post is about the build quality of the Tribute guitars, is the build quality the same as Standards?

Or have they cut considerable corners there in how the guitars are constructed.
