Overall: I mean I like this camera so the hero 5 is gonna run you around 400 bucks.

Considering it originally (eventually) had a price of $200, that's not a great markdown, considering the quality, functionality, and recent app limitations... so I would say, NO, this is not a good idea. For a little more (125-150) you can likely get a Hero5 or even Hero6 for the same price, both of which have much better functionality and value for GoPro cameras around the $100 mark. Similarly, you can often find Hero4 Silver in the $75 or less range, which is going to be a better quality camera with more modern reliability for less cost.

Personally, I think you could probably find a Hero5, Hero2018, or Hero6 still in the $100-$160 range when considering used, and you'd get much more value there than from a Hero4 for just a little more. Moreover, I can find Hero4's for $75 used on my local craigslist, so as much as $100 seems good, it's far from the best value you can get for that camera. An additional example- When GoPro has refurbished cameras in stock, [a Hero7 Black goes for $175. In light of that, you should try to get the best camera at the top limit of your budget to really get the best value.

So hero5 black for me is enough. In fact if you use the camera for video recording during a typical day let's say one hour ov videos in total, you will soon realize how much space it takes in terms of memory. Most of the time the good stuff is a bunch of minute or seconds.
