I purchased this ridiculously expensive nail clipper based off of rave reviews on "best of" lists found around the internet (Wirecutter, Business Insider), and I couldn't have been more disappointed. The clippers are quite large, unwieldy for someone with small hands & small fingers, but even that would not have been a deal breaker. The main issue I have is that the reviews I read raved about its "razor sharp" blades that "cut so cleanly.

 I added 3M Nexcare rubber tape at key grip points, which has made them quite easy to use. This augmentation significantly detracts from the visual appeal, but I had to go with function over form here. I miss the swing out under-nail cleaner tool that is on my old clippers, but the embedded small grit file on these is great. Better than most

 As stated in the title, I soon crawled back to my 10+ year old drugstore Revlons because they do a much better job of cutting nails with no hassle.

I was all pumped about getting new "pro" nail clippers. These were sorta heralded by Amazon and reviews as the shiz-nit for the price range. On the contrary. They feel lovely in hand when closed, a real beauty of a set of nail clippers

 Then on opening them and checking the action it's a lot of WOAH! because to cut a nail involves a dramatic arc of the lever, which itself is non-ergonomic in the functional sense - and with something so awkward to hold in hand you spend half your time wrangling the strange action and, if you're not careful, wind up with some whonky lines. These clippers are so sharp that you have no choice but to file your nails - pretty extensively to avoid scratchy claws - and so the whole experience is a pain in the butt. As stated in the title, I soon crawled back to my 10+ year old drugstore Revlons because they do a much better job of cutting nails with no hassle.

I ordered this product and was shocked at how HUGE it was - this is very clearly a TOENAIL clipper and is less appropriate for fingernails. It still works of course, but it's harder to hold and the blade is quite large for fingernails (especially for kids)

I've owned a Green Bell nail clipper - purchased at an airport in Japan - since 2008, and it's absolutely fantastic. It still maintains sharpness to this day. I've wanted another one for a while, but it never occurred to me that I'd find this Japanese brand on Amazon.com

High quality, but more for toenails...

As one gets older (I am 82), their toe nails become somewhat deformed. I have one that is quite thick and several that are warped or wavy. The jaws of the clipper do not open wide enough for these toes, and it is even difficult to attempt to chip away on these toes from the edges. I believe the cipper is quite well made, and for that I will give it two stars, other than that, I give it no stars because it is very difficult to do any constructive toe clipping on my somewhat deformed toes
