 As you can tell it's not very bassy because it's that parler size guitar doesn't have a huge bass, it has a little bit more pronounced highs and mids, but but overall it's a it's a well well voiced guitar for this price range.  the the the front and back and sides are Agathis which is a tone wood that's a little bit less expensive. It's a little bit softer wood which gives it a nice a nice sound for this this level of guitar. The bridge and the fingerboard are rosewood so they're familiar materials for guitars. The tuners are open back which is kind of cool

[QUESTION] best starter guitar for blues / blues rock

Overall I’m okay with my purchase. It’s a parlor size guitar but it is not really parlor but Jim Dandy which is something unique on its own. That means that the style and tone are targeted for blues/country/folk and to be accompanied with steel guitar and-or resonator. Not your typical parlor guitar tones which is what I wanted until I played blues with it and fell in love with what I would describe as somewhat tin box tones mixed with slight touch of guitarlele tones in good taste

 I have to admit, it took some getting used to play with the short scale and no dot mark on the third fret. Definitely no high octave shredding on this. Also, the neck is chunky and action is higher than what I’m used to, probably for the use of a slide but it’s not bad. The guitar has great timbre for a small size, which makes finger picking sounds great and effortless but strumming is not as good in tone

 It is hard to describe but the wood used sure produces unique delta blues tones. Strongly suggest replacing the strings that comes with it, good strings makes a huge difference. If you like more of pop rock music spend a little more and go for the typical parlor Gretsch G9511 or Fender, Ibanez, etc

 I've only played maybe a handful, but I can't say that for other guitar brands and other guitar models. I've seen various shifts in quality. Let's say so I found this to be very consistent but yeah, I just like that price I mean that's a really accessible price and I think you get a lot of guitar for that amount of money. Number two is just the sound I Like parlor guitars I like smaller guitars like this I'll just play for a second I feel like it's this is very resonant [Music] Maybe if I played good, that'd be good [Music] I like the way it sounds I like this

 Number three action on this was great. It's very easy to play, very comfortable and you know I I'm just in an apartment here. it doesn't take up a ton of space I Know that sounds silly, but you know an apartment was A with a kid in it and tons of toys every every little bit of space you can save definitely matters. So yeah, it's great

 but I often will stand and actually just play this without a strap. and I like this, you can just start tuck it under your elbow and you can just hold it easily. It's not that heavy. it's gonna be great if you if you're a new student to picking up guitar or you're you think about your kid ridiculous bass guitar for Christmas we want to get him acoustic guitar I would recommend this action on mine was was I guess maybe this goes back to feels great

 I Don't know. Anywho, yeah, just it feels great. It's I like the I guess the next I was ever say is number four which is size and weight so you know it's not a it's not a huge big giant jumbo guitar you had a guitar on. It feels very comfortable to play

I bought my first guitar to practice on and my instructor always humiliated me because the guitar was very small. It was actually a children's guitar, good quality though. It has beautiful black and red colours. He always laughed at me and told me to "stick to ukuleles like a loser". He would sometimes yell at me because the little guitar didn't sound as nice as the regular ones. I can play the little guitar well, but the instructor was right about the music. It doesn't make nice sound compared to regular guitars. [DISCUSSION] My hands are very small and I struggle to play guitar.

 I also put in a set of StewMac Golden Age tuners, a little over $40 last summer, which are a significant improvement over the ones that came with it..

The quality is much better than you would expect for the price. If you really want a comparison, you could pay the same amount for a guitar with the same price in dollars in the 1960s and get nothing remotely close to the quality of this guitar. I also took a look at some of the Recording King models, but the reports of seams coming apart led me to choose this. Now I can record my CD of hokey songs about cats

 The tone is surprisingly fat, but not boomy, and I'd guess the upper mid-range frequencies account for this. The projection quality seems better than a larger guitar.  Update March 7, 2017  I installed a Tusq saddle last night, PQ-9216-C0, listed as being for larivee guitars. It turned out to be close to a perfect fit with a little bit of filing and sanding, mostly on the bottom, and a tiny bit on the thickness

 Some of them you can get for cheaper than this. What I like about this is it embraces that kind of idea, but it is still a well put together instrument. I have not had any sort of functionality or quality problems with it other than it needing a setup which is not a typical of any other guitar. And the thing that I really enjoy about it is that it is so inviting to pick up and play

 It is owning what it is. There's two words that I would use to describe this guitar: Charming and spunky and and it nails them both at the same time, which is kind of an interesting thing. All in all, what I would say is that for an inexpensive guitar, this has held up for a couple of years. It quality wise has held up very, very well

 It's something that you can kind of dive into. It has this very nice little plucky parlor tone. almost sounds a little bit ukulele ish. If you play, you know if you kind of strum with your fingers and you play on the higher frets and again I'm not saying it sounds like ukulele, but you know it's got that

 It is totally embracing the fact that it's supposed to be like an older, inexpensive guitar that for the most part beginners would have played on. It would be something that you know families might have ordered for their kids from a catalog to get them to start playing guitar. They weren't the best, necessarily manufactured instruments. If you've ever actually played one of them, they're still floating around

Thinking about acquiring a guitar in the near future. As a new dad, I'm not sure how often I'll get to play it but I grew up around music, was in bands (as a vocalist) and want my kids to be surrounded by instruments too. With that said, I've no real idea where to begin. I'm thinking acoustic just for ease of use and the likelihood of plugging in an amp etc. with a young kiddo is quite unlikely. Anyway, what's an affordable acoustic guitar that would last a while? Looking for all and any recommendations. Thanks!

Nice little Jim Dandy parlour size by Gretsch at a budget that won't break the bank. I like these parlour size guitars, they're light, they're easy to cart around, but you get that nice bright chimey sound out of them too

 This has got an Agatha's body, it's got a NATO neck, check that nice matte finish on the body there, a nice sunburst finish on the top. It's got a Rosewood fretboard, Rosewood bridge, nice big fret markers there too. So have a listen and see how this sounds, I'm going to play this song right here, you can hear the bright sound that comes out of this guitar.
