 This is a walnut stain finish on one that satin finish and here we've got Riviera Blue. You've got slightly oversized F-holes just to enhance the tone as well. And of course there's no block running through the center because these are fully hollow guitars now to match with that. On the next side of things, we've got a NATO neck, which is like a kind of more affordable mahogany alternative for those that don't know

 really nicely made guitars. You've got a u-shaped neck profile so they're very comfortable. Bear in mind this is a big guitar. It's a big hollow body guitar so for smaller body players you might want to look at some of the smaller body Gretchen's they do a couple of semi-hollow There are a lot bit more approachable for smaller players, but they're very comfortable to play and that certainly don't be put off by the size of these

 And of course there's no block running through the center because these are fully hollow guitars now to match with that. On the next side of things, we've got a NATO neck, which is like a kind of more affordable mahogany alternative for those that don't know. And then we've got a Laurel fretboard. Obviously, with these days, with Sai teeth being in place, rosewood is not really a feasible wood choice for most manufacturers, so Laura is replacing that there and then all the way around the guitar

Long-time player here who has gone through several phases of GAS. This last year had 5 electric guitars on hand, but I found myself playing exclusively 3 and having the others just sit and collect dust. I have really been feeling the less-is-more idea lately, and have found 3 electric guitars that I think I truly need in my life and cover all the sounds for my own personal style.

I call it my holy trinity. These cover any sound I ever look for in my own playing, and the Yamaha by itself covers a lot of ground on its own. I have a 2015 Fender Lonestar Stratocaster Deluxe (MIM) that I have been rarely playing. I love the way it looks, but the humbucker in the bridge position is a little too thin for my liking compared to my Les Paul, and then without the bridge single coil I don't get access to all the Stratocaster sounds that I would want a Stratocaster for. I find myself leaving it in the neck position, but even then I like the way the MFD pickup in the G&amp;L neck sounds better than the Texas Specials in the Strat neck. I got it to have a versatile guitar, but I just don't find myself playing it at all anymore.

I have a few acoustics on hand and an older, really worn-in Squier Bronco Bass that has been my main recording bass. I am looking for an upgrade to my bass rig to continue working and recording on my music and finding some different sounds. I found someone wanting to do an even trade on my Strat for a 2020 Fender Player Mustang PJ, and it seems like a good deal. Should I say goodbye to my old Strat friend and get my first nice bass? I was thinking of getting a different classic SSS Strat with my tax refund this year anyways.

It's not a full-on Gretsch.

Another vote for the Streamliner.  While I loved the looks of the Dot, just loved the feel and sound of the Gretsch more. I lucked out in finding a mint 2622 for less than $300. I'm still amazed at its sound and quality for that price

[QUESTION] Epiphone Dot, Ibanez AS73, or Gretch G2622 Streamliner?

COLOR IS NOT AS SOLD...

 The luthier I took it to and paid $135 to fix said that the electronics inside were absolute garbage. Over half the wires were hanging by a thread from the solder and, of course, one had come completely loose. I expected cheap pots and switches for the price I paid. But I don't think it's too much to ask the manufacturer to take a little pride in the finished product

Yes, I could have taken this into a warranty center to get it fixed, but the nearest warranty center within an hour from me is Guitar Center and I would rather burn all my guitars than let anyone from Guitar Center touch my stuff.

Beautiful guitar and timely delivery. The guitar was set up about as good as any I have ever played. Perfect intonation and excellent action. However, less than a month after receiving this guitar, the sound from it just quit; right in the middle of a set

Poorly assembled electronics

Not so much. I have a set of TV Jones Classics in my Gretsch Streamliner, and it's probably the most expressive guitar I have played clean. However, they are low-output enough to not be able to get anything really crunchy in terms of distortion unless I crank the gain so high noise is a factor.

I've had this inexpensive Ibanez Artcore AM73B semi hollow guitar for 10 years. I pick it up and play it unplugged from time to time and it feels nice for casual playing. Plugged in, it was always kind of meh. Very midrangey and kind of dull, very little spark even with new strings. I would use my old Fernandes or my Mexi Strat for recording as they sounded much better when amplified. 

Last week I bought a set of DiMarzio Eric Johnson humbuckers and somehow managed to swap them in to the Ibanez. It was a PITA to remove the jack, pots and switch, solder the new pickups in and put everything back together using the small F-hole as access, but it all eventually came together and it works as it's supposed to. 

Holy shit, what a difference a low output, bright pickup makes on this semi hollow guitar. Plugged in, the guitar is so expressive and so dynamic, now it sounds like a much more expensive instrument. The tones are chimey and bright and the two distortion pedals I have in my pedal board go from clean to nicely breaking up and singing with just the picking hand expression. Before the pickup swap, it was a fraction of the dynamic range with much less clarity. 

The guitar went from a well built entry level guitar to something any player regardless of skill level could use and like. 

I don't typically use a lot of distortion, but my pedals have enough gain to compensate for the lower output of the new pickups if I wanted that heavy distortion, especially since I have 3 gain stages in series on the pedal board. I ended up turning the gain on the pedals by a few dB to get the same output as the old pickups, but that's exactly what the gain knob is for. 

The least expensive guitar in my small collection now is the best sounding of the bunch and the most satisfying to play. The low output pickups made all the difference.

[DISCUSSION] Unpopular opinion. Low output humbuckers are much more versatile and expressive.

I'm a new guitar player and still do not feel that I am worthy to own this guitar. My Mom however is a long time player and as soon as she played this model, she had me order one for her. The sound is amazing and strings and setup are good to go out of the box

I was in the same boat. I picked up a Gretsch Streamliner and am super happy with it. Super versatile guitar.  The quality jump from those Squiers to a $550 Gretsch is pretty huge
