 Actually, the first HP monitor I've reviewed, so that adds a bit of interest here to the thing that makes this monitor. Special is its refresh rate, we're looking at a 1440p display, so the standard 2560 by 1440, but it pushes up to 240 Hertz for the first time. Of course, we've had 240 Hertz available with 1080p monitors for some time now, but 1440p hasn't been able to step up to this super high refresh podium until now with these modern panels, it won't be a surprise to many of you that 1440p at 240 Hertz requires A TN panel these days we do see some 1080p 240 Hertz panels using IPS and VA technology, but as 1080p 240 Hertz starts getting upgraded to better technology, TN is starting to hit 240 Hertz at higher resolutions, and really this is somewhat of a comeback for TN. At 1440p, given the vast majority of 1440p gaming monitors in the past few years have been released, with either IPS or VA panels and up to 165 Hertz, one of the other key specs here

 Everything about the build exudes premium quality as you'd expect from an expensive monitor. The stand is entirely metal. The seams as materials transition from one thing to another, are extremely tight and well built, plus the rear section with its triangular pattern, looks fantastic, even if it's entirely plastic as far as materials go. This is definitely one of the best built monitors I've seen while in general the design is excellent

 The most striking thing when you take the HP omen X, 27 out of the box, is its unique design. Lots of monitor companies these days stick with the basic pronged metal stand with a pillar which is quite functional, looks good most of the time, but HP here is gone with distinctly their own. Aesthetic, which includes a thin rectangular, stand pillar connected to a heavy square metal base. Personally, I think this looks awesome

 Well, 27 inch screen size and, of course, it's flat, which is my preference for 16:9 monitors, one millisecond rate of response times not unusual for a TN, but we'll see how that fares later adaptive syncs support with free sync to HDR, although no Vaser display HDR, spec And a regular retail price of 650 US dollars, I have seen it as low as $ 500, but at 650 dollars it is a premium product, as you'd expect for something high-end. HP Omen X 27 Review, The Fastest 1440p Gaming Monitor (240Hz!)

Maybe 4-5ms on a TN panel like the HP Omen X 27. Maybe. And 240Hz requires the pixel response to be lower than 4.2ms to avoid producing after images

I just purchased one of these during a current sale. Waiting for it to arrive. I've seen movies on one and played games on a PS5 to try it out before I pulled the plug and got one myself.

It really is a game changer.

My reasoning after having 27" IPS 1440p, 165hz monitors of various brands, an ultrawide 60hz IPS in 2015 when they first became available, and having tried a lot of different panel types and monitors, having read a lot about how monitors work today and what differentiates for example a IPS vs a VA panel, how is samsung able to produce 240hz VA ultrawides and no one else does that? Why is there only one Aorus 43" 4k VA 144hz monitor? Why is it VA and not OLED? Why not IPS? What's the difference?

All while currently daily driving a 27" 1440p 240hz TN panel HP Omen X 27 as I wanted to focus on FPS games for a while but have now taken a break to enjoy more content;

The LG C1 fits a very good compromise until OLED is developed further and really the only development they need is higher refresh rates and reducing burn-in, like Samsung's new QD-OLED tech, that reduces burn-in significantly and the MicroLED technology which is the same as OLED except non-organic and doesn't suffer burn-in at all. The only problem is thermals of the panels, and the ridiculous price due to extremely small yields.

Samsung's "The Wall" is so expensive due to the current small yields. But that's the same as LG with their OLED tech a few years ago. It gets cheaper.

To continue with the C1; it has insane input lag, insane colors and contrast and it's 120Hz. What makes it okay from me coming from 240hz, is that it being 4k alleviates a lot of my issues with it being "only" 120hz. There's no game today that I can play that really maxes out above 120 fps while at max settings while running at 4k, and I'm on a 5950x with a 3080.

The size and ppi makes it basically the same as a 27" 1440p monitor and it's basically as if I just take my 27" now and add another few inches of monitor around it to increase the real estate.

**The big difference is that the pixel response of the OLED is actually instantaneous**, unlike any other panel type on the market. Add in the self-emissive nature of the OLED diodes and it's a whole different game entirely. You can search up how HDTVTest's Vincent does testing with a spectrometer on it on their channel. It's actually instant. No LCD crystal turning, on or off. Immediately. That's important and completely changes the experience from traditional content. Movie lovers won't really understand how significant it is because most movie content is 24-30 fps. Gaming wants 100+ all the time. That makes it necessary.

The only thing I consider a real compromise is the 120hz. And I wish it was 144hz at least, as 120hz is a little stuttery for me in FPS titles after becoming used to hitting 200+ fps in most fps and competitive titles at 240hz. 240hz gaming on a fast panel like a TN is fantastic. The amount of fluidity and clarity is unmatched. Although, that's 1440p and I might just reach 140fps in most games today at 4k to compare. And that's fine.

Even then, most games I play that aren't fps or competitive titles I never reach more than around 120fps in anyways. Horizon Zero Dawn now uses DLSS and hits a solid 100 fps at 4k, and it's similar in 1440p. Cyberpunk (a shit game, but as a comparison) hits 60-90 fps at 4k with DLSS.

DLSS is such an important technology as well, as it's basically TAA on steroids while increasing fps by a lot and the incredible, temporally stable image it produces that has absolutely no flickering and the only "thing" or "issue" one could consider is the TAA-like ghosting from the tech using previous frames to sample the upscaling along with motion vectors to reduce said ghosting. It's such a game changer. Games almost look like they don't run with pixels with DLSS.

So the compromise for me is that to enjoy games more, sacrificing the 240hz TN panel for it becomes a no brainer. Although nice to play at 180+ all the time, I don't find myself using it as much as I would have wanted to. I'm not there in the fps competitive trenches anymore and find it less important. I'm still on team "go as high with refreshrate as possible", but I need the pixel response to be able to catch up and if not it's a waste. The gaming industry is straight up lying to their customers with the marketing. On an LCD panel it's never, *never* 1ms "gray to gray". That's the super-cranked up overdrive that looks fucking awful and at *best* it's 6-12ms in reality. Maybe 4-5ms on a TN panel like the HP Omen X 27. Maybe. And 240Hz requires the pixel response to be lower than 4.2ms to avoid producing after images.

The TN panel's contrast and colors, as well as the atrocious viewing angles.. while the colors are really good and very accurate considering the panel supports HDR with like 300 nits, it's an awful gaming experience for anything except fps games like Apex or Valorant where fast turning might be necessary. Apex more so than Valorant as well.

But; the pixel response of a TN panel is still 5-20ms in reality. OLED is *actually* instant. Like not even sugarcoating it. An OLED pixel can change something like 30 times fully before an LCD crystal can turn fully once. That's what, 0.1ms?

This incredibly fast pixel response creates an insanely stable image, and at 120hz and G-Sync it's likely the best gaming experience anyone will ever see until we get the same panels except with higher refresh rates. Color-wise, contrast-wise, "image stability"-wise alongside tech like DLSS it's such a next level difference. When I first saw it my jaw dropped at the impact. It's ***nice****.*

On top of that, the 48" size hits a few notes for me.

I like to watch movies at my desk, anime, movies and what not. The size and color+contrast is such a pleasant experience compared to normal PC monitors. Actual black black levels with decent brightness does a lot.

I believe it’s the same, I got a 48” c1 in June for 1500 so yours sounds like a steal, buy it brand new even if you have to spend 1100 at Best Buy….I play Xbox series x on it and I have to say, when it works, which is 99% of the time….I don’t think it gets any better….but….my tv has gone to snow probably 10-12 times when it’s on, gaming, switching to twitch or spectrum, it happens….it sucks…..I’ve also had my tv black out to an “invalid format” screensaver about 5 times…..ton of random fix info online but honestly it’s something between the Xbox and lg c1, which shouldddd be able to get patched with an update….

I’ve been doing a lot of research and watching reviews on different TVs for my Xbox Series X. I have found a 48” C1 for under $1000. I was wondering if there’s any real benefit to possibly going bigger on the tv. Like is the bigger model brighter? The C1 will be in my bedroom where I sit about 3-4 feet ( .9-1.2 meters) away from the TV.

Thinking about a 48” LG C1

 It is true that it is not as good of a jump as 60 to 120/144hz but it is noticable. My confidence level in my abilities has improved as I know that I have the best refresh rate currently available. I don't think you will be disappointed with this monitor keeping these things in mind.  Conclusion:  Keeping in mind these bullet points this monitor is well worth the upgrade

 It makes the inputs easier to access than monitors with down facing inputs. At the same time, this means that the vasa mounting slots are at a 45 degree angle. If you want to wall mount, the screen you'll need to make sure the mounting arm rotates at least 45 degrees, or else the screen will be at an angle. Now, let's take a look at the tests, we'll start with the contrast

 Finally, let's talk about the back quickly. It has a pretty plain design, but the unique thing about this is that section housing the inputs is at an angle. It makes the inputs easier to access than monitors with down facing inputs. At the same time, this means that the vasa mounting slots are at a 45 degree angle

 If the frame rate drops when you're gaming, then once again, the response time remains quick. At 60hz, we actually recommend setting the overdrive setting to level 2, because the higher levels have too much overshoot. This means you might have to change the overdrive setting if the frame rate of your game drops. If that bothers, you just leave it at level 2

 If you want to wall mount, the screen you'll need to make sure the mounting arm rotates at least 45 degrees, or else the screen will be at an angle. Now, let's take a look at the tests, we'll start with the contrast. A high contrast ratio is important if you use the monitor in the dark for deep dark scenes.  Whites were too bright and anything less would make a the screen come out grey and washed out. As for resolution. Its very much comparable to the 1080p 27" screens.

For starters. The design and fit and finish is a solid 5. No odd warping, panel mis alignment or other quality problems. The matte screen is uniformic edge to edge

Great for the price with some drawbacks. Freesync works well!

Hello all, looking for suggestions on what 1440p 144hz monitor to get. Preferably in the mid 300 to high 200 range. My current build includes Asus KO RTX 3070, Intel i7-9700k. Having trouble deciding between VA and IPS. I’ve seen lots of reviews where IPS glow forced people to make returns/exchanges. I don’t really play FPS besides valorant or Overwatch. I would mostly be focusing on single player RPGs (cyberpunk/AC). Currently playing on a 1080p 144hz AOC.

1440 144hz monitor for 3070

 I do photo editing work often, so I prefer my main monitor to be color accurate and have a quick pixel response time for weekend gaming.

 Colors look rather dull in general, even after being calibrated. White never looks quite white, black never looks as black as on the IPS panels running similar brightness levels. Viewing angles are also quite poor, while viewing it normally there is light yet obvious color shift towards the bottom of the screen. Another issue with the HP is that it offers lower than most contrast ratio, it's apparent both in games and while doing graphic work or viewing images online
