I want something with a glossy 15 or 16" screen, a number pad, and that can do some gaming.  But buying a "gaming" laptop isn't going to fly, so it sort of has to fly under the radar...most likely an APU.  Budget is $1,000 or so..

Employer paid laptop for gaming that won't tip off the IT guys.

 I ended up going with a Legion 5 15” and it’s night and day. Also the Omen from HP is just a couple hundred or so more and has that better build. Just my $.02

Budget gaming laptop for my daughter

 The screen looks good, it's bright and I didn't have any bleed issues. Watching 4K video looks flawless. The RTX 3060 performs well and stays relatively cool. I was able to play test several AAA titles on ultra at 60+ FPS

 I even got a couple of slightly older AAA titles to run in the 180+ FPS range while running smooth as butter. As mentioned in the Q&A, this GPU runs at the higher TGP wattage for the mobile 3060, so it's as good as you're going to get for the 3060 in mobile form. The keyboard feels ever so slightly "cheap", but not enough to be of concern and I haven't had and issues with it. The SSD+Optane works great, quick boot times and good transfer speeds
