 Headset and worthy upgrade to the original vibe, and also a nice step up from all the previous HTC vive devices. It is almost certainly the best option to buy. Currently, I'd recommend this over the standard vive cosmos, despite the hefty price tag that comes with it hope you found this video useful.  However, it does offer that freedom. As I said, comfort and convenience to be able to flip them up out of the way in the same way as the visor, if you need to hear the real world also because they sit on your ear rather than over it, it means the ideas don't get Too hot you don't get unnecessarily hopped during your gaming session now to set up the vive cosmos elite, you require the base stations, the headset and the controllers, obviously that all needs to be plugged in the headset itself connects to this link box. That then, connects to your PC you'll, see, there's a USB connection and a another connection that is a DisplayPort and then, on the other side, you've got the proprietary input that connects from the headset. You also know there's a power jack that you required to plug in power here

 You can also mount them on a tripod as I'm doing here, which is very simple or you could just balance them precariously on bookshelves or speakers or whatever you happen to have that works for you, and I've managed to do it with all sorts of different ways. Here, I've done it in my office with a tripod, but in the living room I balanced on top of a speaker and a bookshelf, and that wasn't a problem at all. You can do it it's much the same way as the original vive setup. These need to be plugged into the mains, but they don't need to be plugged into your PC, which is certainly a bonus and fairly easy

 If your computer can handle the frames these would be better for FPS. FOV(139° diagonal) is fine, better than Quest 2 but worse than Vive Pro 2 or the Valve Index. The screen resolution is fine, I don't really notice the resolution unless I try to watch videos in the headset. Videos on my 1080p monitor look better than they do in VR

I've done it! A seemingly viable HDMI 2.0 to DP 1.2 converter that works, for those of us on laptops trying to run a Vive Cosmos or Rift S for portability, but with only an HDMI port to GPU.

I'll update with more details as I test. I was using an MSI GE63VR-7RF with an i7-7700HQ, GTX 1070, and running some ancient NVIDIA driver for compatibility with the BIOS or VBIOS (I think?), but with some tracking issues using inside-out tracking. Could just be Cosmos stuff, but things got worse as I put the CPU under any real load.

My honest opinion on this purchase

So I just received my Vive Pro 2 via Amazon (after hearing all the fault reports I'm glad I went via Amazon so I don't have to deal with HTC's customer service if something goes wrong).

I set everything up, updated the to the latest drivers, updated the headset etc. Firstly, I have an RTX3080. I didn't touch any Vive Console settings and SteamVR defaulted at 90hz and 150% SS 3760x3760.

I didn't even try the stock padding and immediately swapped it out to a full VRCover set with their 10mm face gasket. 

I used the Infinite HMD FOV Tester to compare the FOV to my Index.

**Index:**

* 109 hFOV 
* 110 vFOV

This is with the lenses ALL the way in and touching my eye lashes. The top of the lenses also touches my eyebrows. I know the faceplate magnet mod would help with this. I find it quite distracting when the lenses are touching my face/eyelashes so I typically play with the few clicks out and so a tiny bit lower FOV.

**Vive Pro 2:**

* 118 hFOV
* 98 vFOV

Again, this is with the VRCover 10mm face gasket and the lenses in as close as they will go. ***HOWEVER!*** The lenses are NOT touching my eyelashes or anywhere on my face, in fact it's quite roomy in there. So it's absolutely comfortable to play like this. 

It's also interesting to note that when you have the Index lenses really close to your eyes, you can see the edges of the panels inside the headset, which look like black semi-circles on the edges of your vision. The Vive Pro 2 does not have this at all. 

So what you're getting with the Vive Pro 2 (with VRCover 10mm pad) vs the Index is essentially trading 10-12 degrees of vFOV for 10-12 degrees of hFOV. Plus (at least for me) the lenses don't touching your face/eyelashes and you don't see the black semi-circle/edges of the panels when the lenses are right against your eyes. 

Actually in game, I personally find the wider FOV far more natural and immersive, however I can't help but feel HTC missed a trick here by not having the displays canted to wrap the FOV around your vision more. Yes the FOV is wider, but when looking side to side with your eyes it doesn't "wrap" around you which is a shame. 

Sweetspot is abit smaller than the Index, but nothing wildly unexpected. 

Godrays are minimal, but my god the GLARE. The glare is pretty insane in this headset, I'd definitely say its worse than the Index which I never thought was possible. 

Resolution/overall clarity is no contest though. The Vive Pro 2 is **crisp.** It's like not knowing you needed glasses and then putting on a pair for the first time. It's just immediately naturely. I did briefly own a G2 prior to refunding it, and I feel the clarity is similar to the G2, but because I don't own a G2 anymore I can't A/B test it. Just going by what I remember. 

Audio is terrible compared to the Vive. I was hoping it wouldn't be that bad, but if you own an Index, the headphones are going to be a mega disappointment. Also a very faint static comes through the headphones constantly. I've seen others report this so maybe it'll get fixed via software somehow. Some EQ software might be able to redeem the headphones slightly so I'll test that soon. 

Colours, contrast and black levels are genuinely a surprise, much better than the Index. Not OLED levels obviously, but they're at the point where I don't even think about it. When I'm in the Index, occasionally something will look a bit more washed out/greyish than it should be which pulls me out of the game, but that doesn't seem to be an issue with the Vive Pro 2. On the Index I put the brightness of the panel to 80% to help with the black levels, but it took a lot of pop out of the display, the brightness of the VP2 seems comparable to the Index at 100-110%, but with much better black levels and nicer colours. 

Comfort wise, I genuinely prefer the Vive Pro headstrap, it seems to hold the headset at a fixed position on my head much better than the Index without digging into my face anywhere.  I do wish it was lighter though, as I remember really enjoying how light the Reverb G2 was. 

I think I've touched on all the main points, and in my opinion the Vive Pro 2 is absolutely ***not*** an all-around upgrade to the Index. It's a shame the glare is worse and the audio is so awful, but despite that, the FOV, comfort (headstrap and not having the lenses touching your eyes/face to max out the FOV), colours/black levels and resolution is so much better for me, I really can't even consider going back to the Index.

Vive Pro 2 First Impressions - Upgrade from Valve Index

The cable connected to the headset did not seat correctly. First we got error code that the yhe headset was not communicating with the video card. Found out it was the cable connection. Next the video was upside down

 Reconnected headset and it was ok for awhile. Then stopped working. After reconnecting over and over never got it working. Returned unit after 5 days of effort

I&#39;m living in a pretty poor country and my parents aren&#39;t millionaires or anything, so my max budget is preferably under $100.

I&#39;ve tried finding used headsets but the most i could find is Quest 2s and Oculus Rift S&#39; (and i&#39;m very much not a fan of Oculus headsets because of their horrible parent company). I&#39;ve also heard tons of people having issues with the Rift S, headsets and controllers completely failing at random.

I&#39;ve also managed to find a few used HTC Vive Cosmos headsets around $150, which i feel is my best bet since i managed to find them really cheap at a really good condition. I&#39;ve heard about the controllers not being supported on launch by most games and i&#39;m not sure if that&#39;s still a problem tho. VR-Compare also marks the headset as &quot;discontinued&quot; so I&#39;m very scared to buy it since i don&#39;t if the headset is still getting any software updates.

I&#39;m basically looking for a VR headset around $100 (used or not) with a pretty good display quality, and I&#39;ve tried searching *everywhere*. I mostly wanna play games like Rec Room, Minecraft (using the VR mod), GMOD (using the VR mod), FNaF: HW, and wanna use Virtual Desktop to use my PC in VR, so display quality is pretty important to me.

When it comes to specs, my PC is powerful enough for most games (GTX 1660 Super, Ryzen 5 3600 at 4 GHz, 16 GBs RAM at 3200 MHz) so i&#39;m not that worried about performance. I completely wanna focus on PCVR so getting something like a Quest 2 would be kinda pointless.

I also don&#39;t have much room at all, so I&#39;m mostly going to be doing seated VR.

Should i get a used Vive Cosmos? Or are there any better alternatives?

 Better than the Rift S, Index, Quest 2 (all of which I own). It's about on par with the Reverb G2 with the color and black levels of the display (I also own the G2).

In conclusion, I think the Cosmos Elite is a good headset and that's a really good price for the complete kit. Just make you you have a PC capable of running it. I say this as you didn't mention your hardware and oxygen people tend to overestimate the capabilities of their system.

I'm thinking of getting into VR and have the opportunity to get the HTC Vive Cosmos Elite for £400. 

Is the headset (and all other parts) worth that price tag? 

I've had friends tell me that it's "one of the worst and scummiest headset that wasn't worth its price tag." - but that doesn't sound objective enough to be valid. 

What do you guys think?
