Man. I may be the headphones guy in my friends group... but I must've been living under a rock. All my friends told me to get these. The Hyperx Cloud II, one of the most recommended and loved pairs of headphones among gamers and teens. Funny I thought they looked kind of like a Takstar, but I was clearly mistaken... these say hyperx, not Takstar Pro 80. 

Clever features like fake 7.1 built into the USB DAC. Instrument separation like a spaghetti ball. A nice braided cable that amplifies all the microphonics. 

I'm glad I finally came to my senses and upgraded.



Heh... OK for real. These are fine. I've heard a lot worse, and the tonal balance isn't bad. 
I do always get recommended these from my friends, and while I had used them before, I figured it's probably good to have a pair on hand as a reference since they're very popular

I have a takstar pro 82! I've stuck with them for years because I frequently get headaches and they're super comfy and won't give me that problem. OP since I've seen you post a lot around here, what would you say is the most comfortable pair of headphones you've had? Sometimes I'm tempted to upgrade, but as mentioned the headache thing prevents me from leaving my beloved takstar haha

definitely agree i sold my LCD-5s before i even got to wear them for these Hyper X cloud 2s. Its such a great headphone.

Finally took my friends advice and got good headphones

"  Connection on low battery: I am not sure if this is just the pair I have received, and goes back to my earlier comment about charging them up when they hit 30%. When my headphones get down to 30%, or less, they will lose connection off and on. When it first happened, I though there was something wrong with the video I was watching. After it happened several times, I looked over at my other screen and saw that the HyperX app was dropping connection

 The product says you can be up to 20 meters away, but I am often less than a meter away from the dongle when this occurs. This also leads to not getting anywhere near the 30 hours of battery life on my particular pair, even if I keep the volume down and the LEDs off. Technically they are still powered on, but the last 30% is useless if they will not hold a connection.  As I said, that could just be my pair, so take the disconnection problem with a grain of salt

  Overall good: Comfortable to wear, good sound, good mic and no need to plug it in everyday.  The cons of this headset. This is my opinion, and I understand that some will roll their eyes are some of this, or disagree, but this is what I don't like about them:  Wear: No cons, they are some of the most comfortable headphones I have owned.  Sound: The sound is really good on these

 The battery will last longer if you turn them down, or less if you turn them up, although even when using them at moderate volume I have not gotten 30 hours out of them, so "Up To" is just that, you could get up to 30 hours. My biggest issue with the battery life is they put in big bold letters in the product information up above that the battery will last up to 30 hours, and they do mention the 50% volume part, albeit in smaller letters, but they don't show anything about the LEDs. That is further down in even smaller lettering, but they do mention it in the product description. You cannot turn the LEDs off by default though, they always come on when you turn the headphones on

Good headphones, not perfect, but for the price, close enough.

The sound is really great (sorry, don't really know how to describe these things yet) and totally different to my previous headsets. I owned the HyperX Cloud II and some no-name amazon headset and I'm glad that I switched. I was really suprised what open-back really mean. Currently I only have the headphones, so no dac/amp or anything (yeah, shame on me, sorry for that) but I'm looking forward on buying a proper interface, since I'm also going to buy a microphone

Go ahead and get yourself some replacement third party cables, the included cables lasted me about a month.

Got my firsr pair of some nice headphones - HE400i

I'll start with the main con and why I gave it three stars. No matter the drivers or the program to use with this headset. What I found to minimize/ get rid of popping/crackling is not using dtsx/spatial sound. Also turning off Exclusive mode and audio enhancements in control panel > sound

 The first 70 percent when it came in right away it did drain rather fast. After a charge to 100%. I can confirm its a good battery charge for the potential 300 hours that they claim. \  Conclusion: cant use any extra features while turning off everything else to get rid of popping

Popping fix?

I have a separate mic so I dont need a mic on the headphones. Previous headphones have always made me sweaty, fatigued and just plain uncomfortable.

This headset sounds great for audio/video and games, were a pretty good fit and were comfortable to wear for long periods of time and easily fit over my VR headset so I can have good quality wireless audio while playing VR. I liked the detachable microphone and the ear pieces fit okay over may ears and weren't too annoying with long periods of use. Unfortunately the plastic retainer piece that allows for adjustment had broke with only less than 6 months of use for a headset that I paid nearly $150 for that's pretty bad my last headset was a Thermaltake Verto and they lasted about 6 years as they were well made with metal and not cheap plastic.

I was looking to get some new headphones for my brother for his birthday. He will be turning 16 at the end of the month and has been using some old fake beats by Dre Dre. I don’t know much about this space so that’s why I decided to look for some help here! 

I am looking to spend maybe $200-400. 

I know he wants on the ear headphones because over the ear makes his glasses press against his head and he doesn’t like that feeling. 

His primary use for the headphones is just at home for games and discord, talking to his friends. No noise cancel is preferred as he wants to be able to hear mom come upstairs.  I think his headphones now are just audio Jack into his computer, so that would be preferred as well I suppose. But if there’s something better out there, I’d be open to looking at anything.

He listens to like j-rock, anime music as far as I know. Not really bass heavy stuff so maybe something that’s more balanced would fit well here. 

If I’m missing anything please let me know! Willing to offer more information if need be! Thank you!

<p>FINAL CHOICE: Just felt like updating this post with what I ended up going with. Ended up picking the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro for him. So far, he seems to be enjoying it! He says they look a little funny on his head but he likes how they sound! They don’t fit too tight on his head and push in on his glasses much. </p>
