Istanbul Agop Xist Series Cymbals

I am sure this has been posted before but I did a quick scan and didn't see anything too recent.  I am a bass player and just getting up to speed on the drum stuff.  

My son took up drums a couple months ago, got a used set of Ludwig Accent which came with hi-hats and a ride/crash.  They are the stock ones that came with the kit and are pretty meh.  So for Christmas it looks like he will be asking for a ride and a crash.

Have researched the various entry level offerings from the major manufacturers.  I also found the Istanbul Agop Xist.  Question is, are these a better value than the PST7s or Zildjian S line?  Seems comparable in cost, maybe a little more expensive.  I know the used market has some good deals but if this ends up being a Christmas present, that might be a little odd.

Thoughts would be welcome!

What hi hats should I get?

Had the most fun today since i got Back into drumming 3 weeks ago. Progress can be so satisfying (also being able to afford anything other than a Basix Drumset with Stagg cymbals haha)

istanbul xist have been my go to cymbals recently. High quality brass, excellent tone for less money.

What would you add to this kit? I wanna get some more cymbals or some accessories, but I am clueless on what’s out there.

Question bout cymbals

My brother gave me his SPL kit before he left for college. Everything sounds great except for the hi hats. I have a Zildjian 16” crash, and a Meinl 20” ride. My hi hats are the SPL ones that came with the set along with a crash. What hi hats would sound good that are reasonably priced? My limit is 250

Is my cymbals trash? I don’t like much the sound of them, i feel that it may because im a very beginner but what i really wanted was a good hihat sound, is that paiste set good? What could be really good cymbals for the cost? (They are a little black like that bc of moisture i guess idk)
