I ride a Jones Mind Expander Twin, and that thing can butter like no other. Can spin and press that board all day long. Wide enough to lay some carves, short sidecut makes it feel quite agile edge to edge despite the width. (The 3D spoon nose/tail help with rolling into edge transitions).

My usual areas to ride are steep moguls/trees, because that is generally where people have difficulty going and the snow stays a little longer for those that venture in. The mind expander is unlike any board I have ridden previously, and frankly took a day to understand its potential before I really started to have fun on it. It is the most responsive board I have ever ridden, where slight adjustments in weighting mid turn produce incredible results. Whether it is poorly covered moguls, or thigh deep powder, this board has quickly become my favourite to date.

Riding in powder with my freestyle board is extremely challenging so I thought of going with a board suited for pow that can still perform on groomers as well. The two ones I liked most so far have been the Jones Mind expander twin and the Bataleon Magic carpet. My style:. The twin shape and slightly over middle of the road stiffness allows for a a versitle ride all around the mountain the core profile and extra inserts allow it to float well in powder and the mid bite helps it hold an edge in less than ideal snow. I definitely had a similar feeling on the Mind Expander and that is a whole lot longer. If you want to stick to Jones the Ultra Mind Expander should have everything that the Storm Chaser doesn't have - stiff flex, good float, pop and stability from camber in the back.
