No good for soft cheeses

 Instead of worrying about sharpening an expensive serrated knife, I prefer to just buy an inexpensive one, use it until it's toast, then throw it away. -Relatively well-made: Pure Komachi's are much nicer and build and material quality than other cheap knives I've used (Dexter, Mundial, etc). The handle is plastic, it's partial tang, all of which would probably be knocks against it in the professional cook world, but the overall quality exceeds what I would expect from this price point. The plastic doesn't feel overly cheap, and the included sheath has never given me any problems

Great bread knife for professional kitchen work

 including turkey/chicken (I am notoriously bad at carving those).  Kitchen knives are one of those things: you can basically spend as much as you want on them. However, sometimes spending more money doesn't guarantee you a better product. As always, do your research! I had been needing new kitchen knives for some time, and after researching the various brands out there, I determined that the Pure Komachi series were the best value for me

 I hope they never stop making these knives in the quality they currently have, because they have something right with this series.

Pure Komachi 2 Series are great, and their Bread Knife one of my favorite so far.

 (I have a nice Santoku knife that came with a blade protector, but it's needlessly bulky and slips off when I'm rummaging around in the drawer. Not good!) This may be the best price-to-utility value of anything I've ever bought for the kitchen.  Incidentally, the handle on my knife isn't washed out and yellow-ish like the photo on the project page - it's much closer to the color of the blade.

 I love how easy it is to clean, thanks to the coating on the blade. And it's very nice to have the blade protector, which is quite slim and fits snugly. (I have a nice Santoku knife that came with a blade protector, but it's needlessly bulky and slips off when I'm rummaging around in the drawer. Not good!) How did I cook without it?

 I was able to slice fresh from the oven crusty French bread without the unappetizing “squish”. The plastic sheath takes some getting used to, but it does it’s job as designed. I’m hopeful this knife will maintain its durability over time.

Neon orange, sharp, and doesn’t mangle bread or produce!

 The price is great, too. I don't do many reviews, so when I do it's because I'm pretty impressed with the product. I will recommend this to anyone needing a great bread knife. And, I appreciate it coming with a protective sleeve which keeps it not only protected in my knife drawer, but safe for fingers, too
