 The es 110 replaces Kai's previous model issue for the es 100 and, and a really important feature on the ES 110 is that it's now got individual audio outputs, which means it works very well. If you're playing live on stage, you need to plug it into external amplification like a PA system or a dedicated keyboard amplifier, then the es 110 is perfect for that, and it has its own built-in speakers, which is nice, so make a good practice piano for at Home and it's got a good range of sounds - there are actually a different acoustic. Piano sounds in that there are classical piano, sounds, there's rock piano, there's studio, piano sounds and even a ragtime piano. It is, to be fair, overkill for a beginning pianist.  But it’s genuinely the finest digital piano I’ve ever owned, and I would put it up against instruments that cost much more.

I’m looking to learn how to play as a hobby. I don’t exactly have a budget limit, but I want something that’s decent quality but not too expensive —something that won’t break after a few months. 

Are there any particular brands or models I can get off Amazon that are good?

Can anyone recommend a piano keyboard for a beginner?

  My background, coming from a vintage upright pianos and a Yamaha grand piano.  I know that no digital piano will feel like a acoustic.  I've had the privilege to play , Yamaha 115 Yamaha 45, all casios, korg b1, dgx 660, Roland fp30 and many more from my local music shop. Went there for days testing each one

new to playing the piano

 The action on the Kawai is pretty decent I would say. Compared to my upright steinway, the Kawai is very close , but can still be distinguished.

Keyboard feels nice but the speakers are complete ass

 It'S very rich: it's got a nice tremolo to it, [, Music ]. It'S also got Wurlitzer on here and some decent organs as well, which is not that that's more like a dx7 there. We go [, Music, ], [ Applause, ] and then a whole other host of categories, or I shouldn't say, categories voices that are listed in others like pads harpsichord is in there. I think vibraphone as your harpsichord and there's the butt

 [ Music ] super full and a really nice kind of stereo field as well as I'm listening to this there's all sorts of detail that my ears are imagining sort of in this imaginary space right in front of me: [, Music, ], but then there's other acoustic Sounds as well to choose from [ Music ] slightly brighter one. There [ Music ] almost started playing that sarah mclachlan tune from Toy Story anyway, sort of a digital grand piano, sound, very nice mellow, warm sound, so great variety on there, [ Music ]. Very very, very poppy, bright kind of sound, which is great for eighties nineties tracks, if you ever playing [ Music, ] and, of course, back to the front, it also has some really convincing road sounds and Wurlitzer sounds. I actually love the road sound on this

 So this is what that goes to called the e X sample, set, which I guess is just a previous generation still really really capable tends to be slightly brighter than what you get on like the CN 29 or the es 8. That has that s kex sample 192 polyphony on this, which is tons. You will never ever ever run out of polyphony with 192. Quite frankly, if all you're doing is playing piano at kind of a medium level, even 128 is more than enough

Hi, I took a semester of beginning acoustic piano lessons back in college, years and years ago now.  Since then, I haven't returned to learning it for one reason or another.  Fast forward to today and I'm looking to learn from the beginning and this time put in the determination and practice time into really learning and developing a solid foundation upon which to build a lifetime of playing enjoyment.

I don't have the space for a real piano at present, and also don't want to spend that much money, at least during this re-start to learning piano.

My preference is to get a digital piano with the most realistic and nuanced action/feel, to mimic a real piano as much as possible, down to the pedals.  That way, I can learn and if/when I move to a real piano it will be a smoother transition.

With that said, I've identified the following as good candidates:

1. Korg D1: (high quality japanese key bed, but no USB midi and arguably poor sounds, lowest polyphony count, no internal speakers).
2. Yamaha P-125: (supposed to have better sounds but not as realistic, yet easier action, w/ usb midi).
3. Roland FP-30X (triple sensors, competitive good sounds vs P-125, supposedly better/more realistic action but may be also be too slow for some techniques).
4. Yamaha DGX-670 (similar to P-125 keyboard in feel, but heavier yet with much more features, some ports lacking).
5. Kawai ES110 (older model but with sounds that still stand up against the test of time, seems like a favored selection as a good all-arounder).

I'm leaning towards the Korg D1, since the midi ports may be enough (or would USB be beneficial), and the key bed may arguably be the best of the lot.  I could probably overcome the poor internal sounds and low polyphony count using external alternatives?  Connecting external speakers isn't a big deal for me and may yield better sound even.  My concern about the Korg D1 are multiple reports of them arriving with dead or broken keys (including at least a few reports of the same keys being damaged, suggesting perhaps a flaw in its packaging for transport).

The Roland FP-30X also appeals to me due to the action and triple sensors, but have read reports about clunking sounds from some keys eventually.

This leaves me with the Yamaha P-125 and DGX-670.  Both use an older school action mechanism, but it appears to be tried and true/proven and fairly trouble free.  Seems like the safest bet?  DGX-670 since it's brand new, packed with features that may either be a distraction or enable me to keep things fun and serve as a driver to continue to learn and grow/expand my ability.

Then, finally, there is the Kawai ES110 which I've heard alot of good things about but not sure if it would have good enough a realistic feel and action for someone who wants to learn on something as close to the real thing as possible.

Hoping some folks with experience with the above digital pianos can provide some valuable input to assist me in making the best choice here.  In fact, if there is an alternate model within the same price range or so, which you believe to be superior, I'd love to hear about it.

 Spend a few more bucks and stay away from this device especially if you are just a beginner. Btw, I had bought this device 3 years ago yet I had not used it. Such a disappointment!

 It's got a metronome built in which is you that and you can set the bell to wherever you want it. but it's also got some drum beats in it so you could change it just like that. So instead of just having to dig [Music] so it for the price I think is, it's great. Really is a good nice digital piano that you could learn to play on

You could make it into a home piano by buying the extra you know, the wooden panel thing on and then take it on and off however you feel like I just got it on the next frame at the moment

 So it's nice and compact. Comes with this music vest, it comes with its power supply. it comes with a manual and it comes with this handy operational guide as well because how it works is to keep it nice and compact and and smart locking is the functions are accessed by holding a button down and pressing a key. But something I do want to point out, I think it's absolutely brilliant at this price point
