 And the reason I say that is because the R3 is a rear ported speaker. So if you put it too close to the wall, you're going to effectively, you know, choke off that port, you know, if it's more than or less than, you know, a few inches away. You could seal up that port, but then it makes it more like a sealed enclosure with one six and a half inch woofer and you probably won't have the dynamic range or headroom that the R2C has, but that's purely conjecture. That's a guess based on, you know, some experience of what I'm seeing in the data

 So keep that in mind as I'm kind of going back and forth between this particular set of data. But with that said, what you can see is a very, man this KEF R3 looks really fantastic. The only thing that stood out to me and what I heard and what shows up in the data is there is a little bit of a high frequency bump going on here and it's about maybe 1 to 2 dB and it's just enough to maybe cause itself to stand out in a room. If you're listening, your typical seated position from a few meters away or more, what you might hear is a little bit more detail or sparkle or air or conversely you may call that bright or fatiguing

 Thing is though, it's more linear in progression. Now remember this is a sealed enclosure, whereas this is a ported enclosure. When the port comes into play, the distortion dips and then it increases significantly above that and you don't have that same trend with this speaker because you don't have a port. So you don't have a dip and then a significant increase

 First up we have the KEF R3 and it looks really good at 96 dB at one meter. You're well below 1% THD until you get below 100 Hz, really, really clean speaker here. Around 50 Hz, 70 Hz or so is when you start to pick up into the 3% THD region and then you just increase drastically below that frequency. Now let's switch over to the R2C and we can see that you're not quite far as down in the distortion values, but you're still really low

I am currently building a house and it won't be done until spring/early summer timeframe -- so lot of time to be patient as I wait to purchase some of the items below. Looking for any suggestions/feedback!

$10k budget for 5.2.4 system -- how does this look?

 The Uni-Q driver is a fantastic design, separating highs and mids with absolute clarity. The woofers are small, but punchy and fast, KEF probably assuming that those owning a center channel will also own a sub to handle lower frequencies.  Sound is awesome at high or low volume. 7 and the depth is at 12.1. So it was just perfect when I put this center speaker inside my BDI TV stand. So what do you guys think of the Kev R2C's unboxing video?  A lot of my speakers has been delayed. So just be patient and I'm definitely going to do an unboxing later in the future. But to get back into the Kev speakers, one of the reasons why it drove me to go ahead and purchase these speakers is just the sound and the aesthetics and looks. Those speakers are some sexy speakers

 So going back to the R2C's Kev's, one thing I will give everyone a heads up on, they are great sounding center speakers. They are definitely an upgrade from my previous speakers that I have owned in the past and for me I think they are pretty much top of the class in that price range. But I will say this, as in the center speaker is being as clear and warm as it is, it also doesn't have, the negative side of it is that it doesn't have a lot of bass to it. Now that's just kind of like my preliminary just to give everyone a heads up, but comparing that to the BMW's, that's one thing that I think it fails, well I want to say it fails, I would say that's one of the drawbacks on the center speaker

KEF R2C Center Speaker | Unboxing

 What's up everybody, this is Aaron from Aaron's Audio Corner and today we are going to be taking a look at the Kev R2C Kev Center Channel. It is a center channel that has a five inch mid-range with the one inch dome tweeter coaxially located in the mid-range and then it has a pair of five and a quarter inch woofers on either side. I'll throw up a picture right here so you can check it out. The unit that I got actually came from a viewer who sent this to me as well as the R8A which is the Atmos speaker

 So let's go down here and through the mid-range area, pretty much the same thing, but when you get above 1 kHz, that's when I start seeing things that I recall being different and then certainly when you get above, you know, the 8 kHz region to 10 kHz, I mean, you've got some really odd stuff going on. What this is really telling you is don't use the grill unless you have to. Now what happens when you stand the speaker upright, what does the spin data look like? Well, for this speaker, it's pretty much the exact same. Matter of fact, if I overlaid this set of data on top of the horizontal data, it's pretty much the exact same

 This house was built about seven years ago. It's not an old construction home. It's a new construction and all I had playing was just that center channel. What that tells me is that the impedance of the speaker dips down pretty low and sure enough when we go and look at the data, we see that as well

5 dB got rid of the sibilance. Maybe not got rid of it but certainly calmed it down enough to where it was livable because in my subjective opinion, it was intolerable in its bare form. Another thing that is also worth noting is kind of going back to the subjective aspect about the bass. When I was listening to Nas' new album, which if you haven't heard it and you like rap music, I say give that a shot

Kef R2c Center Channel Speaker Review

After years of lusting after a theater....I am finally buying a house that has one!  I've been working on budgeting for how to make the most of the room and now I would love some feedback.  Here the room we are working with:

The basic dimensions should be around 15x19.  The main ceiling is 8ft where the screen will go and around 10 feet total.  I'll start with my screen selection.  I'm looking to max out what I can fit in the room with the proper speaker placement and ceiling height, which appears to be 135".  I don't want to break the bank, but I also don't want a $20 screen. Speakers are expensive...but will last 20 years right?  So let's spend all the monies on those:

**Klipsch CDT-5800-C II**

Ceiling speakers that should work great for the .4 part of my setup.  At $439 a piece, I'm hoping they are in fact great.

**Klipsch SPL-150**

For the sub...I'm OCD, so I went with the SPL-150.  Amazon has this on prime for $899...but normally goes for $1149.  I'm pretty open to better suggestions as I've ready the sub is the one thing I don't have to be OCD about matching.

**Klipsch RP-504C**

Because Center channels are so important, I thought I would get the 504.  It's $749...but the front of the setup is where the money should go, right?

**Klipsch RP-8000F**

For the front left and right, the 8000F seems to be a good choice to match the 504C...I think.  At $689 each...tell me if I'm wrong!

**Klipsch RP-6000F**

Here's where I get super confused...  The left and back channels are...less important?  But maybe not?  I was thinking the 6000F would make a good side channel.  These are also pretty pricey...so if this is way overkill, I get it.  I'm not a huge fan of speaker stands.  So I have also considered just getting four of these and making the sides and back match.  Good idea?  Bad idea?

**Klipsch RP-600M (Pair)**

For the rear channel, I'm  waffling between these, which would need stands or just another pair of 6000F's.  But again, this may all be overkill and there's a better floor speaker to match my setup.  Thoughts?

Finally buying a house with a theater...help spend my money!

 I want them to still come from the screen area. So if I can't get it to sound correct I will 100% move it to where that projector is and I will be happy with that otherwise. So I'm going to do a quick demo, maybe 30 seconds, just let you guys hear some voices on it and we'll wrap it up. Come on, this way

 I've been using a phantom center for a while and I've made a video on my feelings about that so I'll spare you in this video but I do really miss having a dedicated thinner channel. Now if you've been following my upgrades as of late, I also have just recently purchased a UST projector, ultra short throw projector and ultra short throw projectors typically go where your center channel does and so a lot of you guys have been asking me what are you going to do about your positioning? Well I had all this in mind even before I bought the projector and before I bought the stand that my projector is sitting on. The stand has a cutout in the middle and I measured it to make sure that before I bought this that it fit and it did fit. I've tested it out off camera and it fits right in snug very perfectly

 But more back to the R2C. This is the center channel that matches with the R speaker line, the R5s, R7s and R11s I think it is in the Kev lineup. I have the R11s of course, R2C and then there are R3s, the small bookshelves that I will get to do my surround sound duties. Now one thing I did not pay attention to when I was doing my research that I'm actually happy about is that this center channel is sealed

I spared no expenses on the receiver because that I think is the most important piece of tech in the Home theatre and makes or breaks the experience, and I also bought a new very decent center speaker since I considered that to be the one that pays of the most. I’m quite happy with the sub, and considering the small room size of my theatre it will be more then I ever need. 

If I where to upgrade one of the other parts, what would people recommend as the “biggest bang for buck”?
Would that be to upgrade the L/R to match better with the C, and if so, what would that be?
Should I go for matching surrounds? And if so, would newer speakers make that much of a difference?
Should I have Klipsch Atmos speakers to fit in with the rest of the set-up? Both sound-wise and for esthetics?
Am I wrong about my receiver/sub/center and should any of these be the ones to go...?
Or did I miss the obvious “low hanging fruit”...?

When I started building my home theatre I purchased almost everything with the intention of upgrading later on when money became available. (I to went the Klipsch-way, and I admit it was 90% based on the fact that I think those copper-colored speakers are just gorgeous to look at😅...)

My setup is currently composed of:
Receiver: Denon AVR-X6300H,
C: Klipsch RP404, 
L/R: Klipsch RF10, 
Sub: Klipsch R115SW, 
Surrounds: Klipsch RS3, 
Rears: Klipsch RS52, 
Atmos top/rear: Onkyo SKH-410 (ceiling mounted), 
Bass shakers: Immersit vibes.
