 The Tholino Vision 6, which is the sibling from the Tholino Alliance in Germany, mostly uses the same materials except on the back side, where the Tholino model is using rubberized higher quality plastic and feels much nicer to the touch. The back cover of the Libra 2 is also the reason why the build quality doesn't feel as good as it could. Because the plastic cover tends to make a cracking noise here and there, it's not too frequent, but I definitely notice it in everyday use. Other than that, the Libra 2 feels sturdy and lies well in the hand

 On mobile read, quite a few people have been complaining about UI freezes and crashes. The problems seem to come from Kobo using different hardware components, which is not unusual for any consumer electronics device. However, in case of the Libre 2, it seems to sometimes cause problems. Kobo seems to have revised the hardware design at least once since the launch and newer devices should be less prone to those mentioned problems

* Battery life: Libra 2's battery life is nowhere near that of the Paperwhite; in one night of reading, I might lose \~10% of Libra 2's battery, but barely a couple percentage points on the Paperwhite. It's not a huge deal, but I don't want to go back to the Oasis days of constant charging. Charges fast, though, which is a plus, I guess.

 I like the shape and heft of it — it's more substantial than the smaller Kindles, which is better for me. There's more than enough lighting, font, and other options to keep me reading. There's even a Dyslexic-style font, which helps many people who simply find it difficult to move from the printed page to ebooks.  Checking out library books isn't that much easier on the Kobo, because the default search takes you to purchase options, so it takes several clicks to check out the book

Kindle (7th? Gen paperwhite)

* I save all books I want to read to a wishlist sort by price low to high guaranteed if you have enough books at least one will be 99p every day - perfect for those books you want to read but can't believe it's still £11.99 on Kindle!
* Kindle daily deals
* Prime users get access to free books
* prime users get first access to new books by authors once a month
* Kindle unlimited is awesome 
* The sync between audible and Kindle! Books you own on Kindle are cheaper on audible and vice versa helps you finish those tough books


I think overall kobo requires more dedication to manage and find books for reasonable prices but the library stuff is worth it.

Amazon you run the risk of losing access to your account and your books but chances are low. 

It all depends on the kind of reader you are, if you hoard books then go amazon if you buy one read it then buy another go kobo.

The book store is bigger with a lot of inexpensive, public domain books that have well formatted. If you live in the USA, borrowing Overdrive eBooks is easy. Notes and highlights can be easily exported.

Cons, Kindles come from Amazon (which is why I'll probably not be buying a new Kindle from here on out). The typography is not as nice. The left and right margins are a shade too wide (at the narrowest setting). But, mostly for me, the biggest con is that I feel Amazon has too much of the market already.  I own a Kindle Voyage and, honestly, I think it's the best eReader screen ever made.

**Kobos** are also well built. They have more font size adjustments than does the Kindle. Many more choices for font boldness, for adjusting margins, etc. Better typography. (ePub is better than .mobi.)  Overdrive borrowing (from the device) is extremely easy.

Cons. Maybe *too* many adjustments and too many updates. It tends to make a Kobo an eReader that needs (or at least wants) more "tinkering."  The screens on some models (especially the side-lit ones) tend to more often have lighting inconsistencies — which tends to bother some people more than others. (My Clara HD has a great screen.)

There are other choices also. The **PocketBook Touch HD 3** is my favorite reader. It has page turn buttons, which I like, is water resistant (a big deal for some folks), has a touch screen that can be disabled. Is extremely light. The screen is on par with the Kobo Clara HD. But what I really like about it is that has ADE built in. Just use its browser to download an .ascm file, the HD 3 will download the book. (Right now, hoewever, the Overdrive security certificate has issues and it can't (currently) be used to directly borrow library books. Supposed to be fixed "soon.") It also has a built-in DropBox integration. One feature I really like is that books, from any source, can be uploaded to the PocketBook Cloud and you can sync the book on the reader and on a smartphone running PocketBook's Android app. (Or another reader.)

Good luck choosing.

I'm looking to downsize/save space (i.e. sell/donate my physical books) and I'm considering purchasing an e-reader. I'm leaning towards a Kobo e-reader. This is mostly because I feel like Amazon already dominates e-commerce and doesn't really treat their employees well, etc.

My question is to those who like e-readers: what do you like about your Kindle or Kobo? Pros and cons? General thoughts?

Btw, I do have an iPad, but I find the reading experience on it isn't great for long periods of time. Kind of strains my eyes.

As a side note, does anyone want a bundle of random books? I'm half-serious lol

Kindle vs Kobo

 Along with Kobo Libra 2, I bought a Kobo origami case. The case was great, worked as intended, but it added a significant weight to the device, made it not very pleasant with the floppy back. I returned it. I prefer a sleeve case, a pouch, so when I read it can be held in my hands, and when I don't read it can be protected

 It doesn't have that quad core CPU like the Kobo Sage. So it comes with fewer or less features, but when it comes to the reading experience, it is quite good. So check out theebookreader.com for the full review

 They got a good tactile response. The back has a little bit of texture, so it's not slick at all. It doesn't feel like it's gonna slip out of your hand at all like some e-readers do. And like I said, you got the USB-C port here on the side

 So I think this is a really nice device for the price. My one complaint is it's just a little bit on the heavy and bulky side. It's kind of thick on that right edge, but it's not a big deal really. I do, like I said, really like the screen

 So yeah, I think the front light looks great, and the screen in general looks great. Here it is, quick comparison with the larger Kobo Sage that was released at the same time. It's more expensive, but I still think the Libra, in fact, has a slightly better screen here, given it full brightness with the front light on here. It just seems to have a little bit more pop to the text

Kobo Libra 2 Full Review, Plus Screen Comparisons

I’m nearly sold on the Libra 2, but have some worries as to how comfortable it is to use in bed. Is there any noticeable strain from the weight of holding the Libra above your head? Another thing is that I’ll often lay on my side to read, with my device being propped up horizontally by the bed. Would this be uncomfortable on the Libra given it’s odd shape and larger size?.

 For this unit that I have here, the battery life will drain 11 to 12% for each hour of audio book playback, so we are looking at a total of 9 hours of audio book playback time. If you are not listening to audio books, Bluetooth will turn off by itself after a few minutes, which is great because otherwise it's going to drain the battery life of this in less than half a day. When it comes to reading e-books, battery life can last for weeks. At the time of making this video, Kobo audio books are not available through the Kobo store on the e-reader, and they are also not available through the Kobo app on the phone or tablet, so you have to find those Kobo audio books on their website

 So this is the Kobo Libra 2 with a 7-inch e-ink Kata 1002 touchscreen display, which is supposed to have faster refresh rate and flipping through pages seems fast enough for me. The resolution is 1264 by 1680, 300 ppi, text is sharp, and the contrast of the e-ink is good. The exterior is made of plastic, the build quality is good, there is no flex at all. We have two side buttons here near to the edge, which is easy to reach and they have good feedback when you press them

Just last night, I wished the buttons were closer to the edge of the frame, and I always wanted audiobook and Dark Mode support (the latter works with NickelMenu). USB-C doesn't make much of a difference to me because I have cameras that still only support Micro-USB. But AUDIOBOOKS and 32GB storage!! It's a dream come true!

But still, I love my Kobo Libra H2O. It was a **massive** improvement over the Kindle I had previously. If it ever stops working, I guess I'm going with it's sequel.
