Let's go ahead and take off this little burlap signature burlap bag that has the hitch pin in it and then go ahead and bring that around and then reinsert that pin And now we're ready to install it into the back of the receiver hitch. So before I do so I Want to go ahead and first show you how this inserts and how its held in place securely

 Okay, there we go. So and you'll notice the strap is on a on a pivot so it helps to get it nice and in alignment with the angle of the frame. Okay, so now I'll bring this strap. I'm going to bring this tube the seat tube forward as close as possible to the cradle

 Let's go ahead and take off this little burlap signature burlap bag that has the hitch pin in it and then go ahead and bring that around and then reinsert that pin And now we're ready to install it into the back of the receiver hitch. So before I do so I Want to go ahead and first show you how this inserts and how its held in place securely. So inside your the stinger of this bicycle rack is a wedge that pushes this ball bearing against the corner of the inner walls of the hitch and by doing that, it'll take away any play between the stinger and the hitch in both the vertical and horizontal direction. So what I'm going to do is just first slide it in to this 2-inch receiver hitch

 And now before I go any further I Want to go ahead and grab from my signature burlap bag the hitch pin that comes supplied. Okay, so here we have a hitch pin for a 2-inch hitch and what I'm going to do is is push this essentially so you can understand what's happening is I have the hole on the passenger side and I'm going to be pressing against the side of the hitch until it reaches the hole so that way I don't have to reach under I don't have to look what's happening I can just feel what's happening and so that that did it right there. so it's it's in position, the hitch pin is in place and right now you can see that there's still the jiggle. Now here at the end we have this turn knob and so this turn knob is tightening that wedge so all I have to do is turn that clockwise and as I turn I just want to jiggle it a little bit that way I'm ensured that that ball bearing is settled into that corner of the hitch and just get a good and firm and now it's completely rigid

I have access to 60% off Arcteryx for one item and I have decided my rain jacket is a spot for me to save some weight. 

I’d like to use the coat for backpacking and scrambling, potentially alpine climbing but I’m just getting in to that scene. 


Current Jacket - Fjallraven - 14.4oz. Great coat and does everything well, but I feel that’s quite heavy. Doesn’t fit a helmet under.

Which Rain Jacket! Arcteryx vs Others

This rack really is as light as they say. Very simple to carry with one hand. I wanted something that I could easily remove and through in the back storage area of my Grand Cherokee and this works nicely. The bottom section folds up for storage, which is also helpful

I think most of the other racks of this type don't. It has adjuster knobs for both top and bottom hinges which eliminate any wiggle and make the unit feel really tight

 You're not going to find anything lighter that is as stable. It looks, and operates like a quality item. Worth the price.

 Then we can bring our bike rack forward and they'll be caught by that pin as you can see there I Know we have full access to our rear hatch to get what we need. Now how this actually attaches to the hitch? we're going to have a pin and clip that are included. Then we'll have this anti-rattle knob at the end which will turn to the right to tighten it up and that'll take out the shake and play in the shank.  As far as your pin and clip is concerned, it has a nice convenient storage case as well. Now the bike rack that most customers can pair this rag to is the Thule Parkway 2 bike Rack for 2-inch hitches. Now the biggest difference between these 2 bike racks is really gonna be the weight. While the COTS made from aluminum in a more lightweight material, the Thule Parkway is made from steel and is just slightly heavier

 They suggested I either file down the shank somehow (I'm not sure what one uses to file down baked on metallic powder coating; it's not like it's wood or Bondo, and you can just use sandpaper); or upgrade to the $428 Sherpa hitch, which they said would fit perfectly. I wonder how they know that the Sherpa will fit perfectly even though the Beta won't fit. I'm bummed because the Beta seemed like the perfect solution for what I needed.

I purchased a Beta and the shank or tongue of the rack won't fit into the receiver on my hitch. My hitch is the hitch supplied by the factory for a 2014 Acura RDX. The shank for the ball hitch that came with the Acura hitch fits perfectly, and it's just ever-so-slightly smaller than the Kuat shank. I called Kuat customer service, and they said that the powder coating on the shank is sometimes too thick and causes this problem

Won't fit my 1.25 inch hitch

 It's very light and easily maneuverable for my wife as well. At first I was hesitant because we couldn't lock it in the hitch while the car and hitch were unattended, But because it's pretty compact and light it's easy enough to stow while not in use. Very stable and secure while driving. Worth the money

Unfortunately I had to return this product as it does not carry my girl friend's bike without the adapter. Chose a platform carrier as a replacement. Although my purchase resulted in a return, I personally believe this is one of the best carriers in the market for the price. It's extremely light weight, strong, and anti-wobble knob works great
