 This will not happen here, plus it makes it very easy to clean. Nothing really sticks to this ceramic. So let me show you the back. It'S really easy to rinse

 I can go back easily, but you'll get the hang of it really quick, so not the best potato but, as you can see, very sharp, very, very sharp knife and the beauty about having a ceramic knife is that it will never never rust. I think the number one reason why these blades go bad is because the edge would get these teeny tiny rust on it, and it would just dull it really quickly. This will not happen here, plus it makes it very easy to clean. Nothing really sticks to this ceramic

 The nice thing about this mandolin is that it has four different settings for the thickness of the slices that you're making 1.3 millimeters 0.5 millimeters, which is really paper-thin, 3 millimeters and 2 millimeters to make potato chips, I tend to use the 1.3 millimeters and I'm going To demonstrate how it cuts into potatoes here in a second, so as you notice it has these notches here, so you can put it right there and it's not going to move and let me just really quickly scrub this and I'll come back alright

Everybody today I'm going to review the Kyocera adjustable ceramics slicer. I bought this to make potato chips at home with the idea that I don't need to buy the entire kit that they sell to make potatoes, because I have already have like something like this - that I could put the chips on and it actually works quite well. I'M going to do a demo in another video. Let me let me tell you first, I really like this product

  As for the last half-inch or so - I'm good at judging where/when the last slice is that a little bit of potato is still above the slicer edge - please don't try this at home! Part of my thinking is that the last little bit of potato is so rounded, that it's unlikely to cook in a different time even if the tiny center is 1/16 (or less) thicker than the rest of it. I may also use a fork to help push it through. I well realize that I could just toss it, but I'm stubborn and my mother grew up during the Depression, so I try not to waste anything. I see people saying to hand slice the last bit, but I'm buying a mandoline precisely so I don't have to do that! Sort of like the meat lovers attitude toward vegetarianism ;-)

 Also - the thickness adjustment is clunky and perhaps likely to break easily.  I looked at the best-selling Mueller Austria, which has a lot of accessories I don't need, but what turned me off the most were several comments that potato slices got stuck and the blades dulled quickly. They are said to have excellent customer service, so lifted their C.S

 I just want to mention, when you're, using a vegetable that is fairly long and you're setting it vertically, it's okay, not choose a hand guard as long as you're. Ultra careful your hand is super far away from the blade when you get closer to the blade, I'm going to show you how to use the hand guard and so that you won't hurt yourself so for now, I'm pretty safe because my hand is very far away From the blade, so here we go, and this is the final product, and so it's really easy. If you have a lot of chopping to do for a salad or whatnot, you can use the mandoline slicer and I'm going to also show you how you can use a bell pepper you go, and then you have these um oops. You have these beautiful thin slices that you can use for your salad, and here we have a carrot and again, when it's vertical, like this, it's okay, not to use the hang the hand guard as long as your hand, is far away from the blade

Hi this is Cecilia from raw glow, and today I'm going to demonstrate the ceramic mandolin slicer, and here it is right here it has a ceramic blade which is very sharp, so you definitely want to handle with care', and the ceramic blade is great because it won't Rust and it will oxidize your food as quickly as well. Another great feature about this adjustable ceramic slicer is that it's lightweight um and it's dishwasher safe. You also use your hand to hold it and you can put it over a bowl or a cutting board. So it's very versatile and to adjust it

3 millimeter setting and a 2 millimeter setting so to change the settings you just twist the knob. It'S super easy, I'm going to start out with the 3 millimeter setting. I use that when I'm making salads to chop my vegetables, I'm going to demonstrate that right now. So here I have a cucumber and I sliced it in half so that I can get V em half moon

 You can put some sort of filling in the middle, whether it be a nut, pate or vegetables or avocado, and then you can roll the cucumber and you get a beautiful like almost like a spring roll presentation. You can do this with zucchini as well, and so I think I've showed you many of the basic uses of the mandolin everybody. I know that has one absolutely loves it. I know it's one of my favorite tools

 It's a very simple design, an adjustable square tube with varying heights that the ramp rests on for thickness. But changing its position does not have a locking feature to keep it from further rotating while in use and thus changing your slicing thickness in the middle of a veggie. The ramp is also loose and flops around quite a bit, moving above where you would expect, held on by only a reduced cross-section of plastic, that will undoubtedly break off after repeated use, handling, cleaning, and storage. Another drawback is the length of the ramp before the blade

The overall length of the slicer is great, but they could have put the blade much further down, allowing for larger veggies and such to fit, or fit better length-wise instead of always having to use it mostly perpendicular to the veggie. The white plastic hand/finger guard is also of poor fit and finish, and doesn't slide very well along the ramp

Good, could be better

 I just rinse, shake, and set it on the rack to dry. I cut my fingertip once when I first got the slicer. Just because the white ceramic blade looks like plastic doesn't mean it is! It's super sharp ceramic. Respect that blade

 I have one minor complaint and one slightly negative observation. My complaint is that I wish this Kyocera mandolin had a setting thicker than 3 mm. That might be standard, I'm not sure. 3mm is awfully thin for salad-topping cucumbers, for example

 Secondly, I'm not complaining since it's perfectly reasonable for the price, but note that this tool isn't "restaurant grade." It's light and inexpensive and compact, but it's also feels a little flimsy. I don't think it could handle a huge pile on onions and carrots every day. For me, though, it's an awfully good product, especially for the price

I've been using this little guy extensively for about three months and I really like it. It's sharp as the day I got it, for one, and it's very easy to clean. You can just rinse it off when you're done, and all the veggie schnibbles fall right off. There's nowhere for them to hide, and the all-plastic and ceramic design never rusts or gets nasty so I don;t even bother drying it off

You Won't Be Sorry

Great for occasional use but if you plan to use a mandoline a lot try something else. I am glad I bought this for those few times I want to slice potatoes thin or quickly slice carrots/celery.  The blade is very sharp and overall I am satisfied, but there are a few minor issues that everyone seems to have with this. Depending on what food you use it for, the item could get caught/snagged on the other side of the blade when you slide it back up

  Postscript: A few weeks after I wrote this review a critical piece of the mandoline that is used to adjust its cutting thickness broke. Let’s face it, this item, for all its benefits, is little more than a cheap piece of plastic. As a result I’ve changed my rating from five to four stars.
