 Also Sneaking Sally Through the Alley by Robert Palmer with harmonica actually sounded no problem so I think this is a good set. I'll do comparisons with a couple other KZs or other requested IMs. This is a set to consider in the under $100 range, it looks great, I like the cable now, I don't think they're putting a BA in the nozzle anymore, the dynamic driver seems to be closest, it's got a decent design, it kicks like a mule. Don't have a lot to complain about at this point right here so I'll go ahead and let you guys go

And the Kz zas sound great as well, but looses points in the mids/treble when compared to the aria. Honestly they complement each other very well and i glad that i chose these two as entry into hi-fi audio consumption. They both make me appreciate the music i listen to and i look forward to continuiny journey into the HiFi rabbit hole.

Moondrop Aria vs Oz ZAS (hot take)

The rating I gave is for "out of the box". These earphones sound amazing as long hold then in your ears. The ear-tips DO NOT extend into the ear canal far enough to seal so there is no bass. I had to purchase aftermarket ear-tips until I found one that works, so I am very happy with my resolution

I have some KZ ZAS in-ears that I use as a musician. They sound great and seal very well. There’s an option for a cable with a microphone, but I can’t attest to the sound quality. They’re around $70 on Amazon

At long last, my much loved Jaybird X3s have decided that the end of days is nigh, at least for their music-playing function, and become increasingly glitchy in the left ear. While they're still good for hearing protection in the shop, its time to look at a replacement. And so, I humbly come for advice - What would YOU buy?

I tend to go between hand tools and power tools fairly often, so an earbud would need to be adept at both constant droning noise (dust collector, table saw, lawn mower, neighbor's lawn mower, neighbor) and sharp sudden noises (hammer blows, nail guns, dogs suddenly running into glass doors). 

I've not been keeping up on audio technology whatsoever, but it seems like active noise cancellation is good at the former, bad at the latter - can replacing the stock tips with comply foam tips mitigate for that?

Budget - $150 or less if possible, $200 if absolutely perfect in form and function (in my eyes, anyway) 

I'm looking at the Isotunes Free and Elgin Rebel, but found Tozo NC9...which look like about 10 other things listed on amazon, but without any prior knowledge, I dont know whats what. Microphone quality's fairly important, I tend to take work calls on the Jaybirds probably 25% of the time, so that'll probably continue.

Looking for advice on earbuds for the shop

Decent

 I think it's just a more general rise in general in those upper mids, and I think that in those lower treble upper mids, I think that actually works pretty well. And especially if you listen to it at higher volumes, there's a lot less shoutiness than you're expecting out of a KZ. So yeah, I think it's quite nice. But again, on that dull side, if you don't do something about it, if you don't have wider tips or EQ, it may lack some of that KZ energy that you're used to, but I do think it does sound a little better at higher volumes, especially compared to the sets that had really boosted treble

 It's kind of hard to point that after you've EQ'd it or you listen to it with so much bass, it's really hard to point to an improvement in the mids over the ZAX from what you're actually hearing no matter what you did to it. So yeah, so like I said, Dua Lipa's voice kind of hits you in the right spot. The opening strings are sharp. Her voice matches that tonality forward and cuts through the big bass

 And it plays better with the mids, and there's a slower... If you look kind of carefully, it rises not quite as much as the ZAX and the ZSX, and it rises a little bit early

 So yeah, I think it's quite nice. But again, on that dull side, if you don't do something about it, if you don't have wider tips or EQ, it may lack some of that KZ energy that you're used to, but I do think it does sound a little better at higher volumes, especially compared to the sets that had really boosted treble. But Fleetwood Mac Dreams, again, this is another one where the bass is kind of droning in the background, but the vocals and the guitars and the cymbals all sound pretty reasonable. But yeah, you just got to get over all this bass that's going on in the background that doesn't really do it any favors

KZ ZAS is the 1DD 7BA hybrid everyone was asking for last year with the inclusion of the XUN dynamic driver.  While KZ delivered on the XUN, I will say it is more like over-delivered with a monster amount of bass.  For bassheads, this is a great set, but for regular folks, you may want to EQ the bass down into your preferred level so the other parts of the signature can shine. I own the ZS10 Pro and the ZAX. I use the Silver upgrade cable on my ZS10 Pro and the ZAX's stock cable is the same as the Silver cable so you don't need to change cables. I should mention that KZ sell their own foam tips and they feel more comfortable than the stock silicone tips

My first taste as some good IEMS (just ordered)

I've been using these for only a few weeks and they are INCREDIBLE sounding but the left ear has already started cutting out.

These sound incredible, but do not hold up to normal use

 It's not an option. You cannot use the original ear tips that come with it. One hundred percent, they don't seal and the sound is terrible, okay? So get some spin fits or some foam tips like I've got here, and that's number one. And number two is you need to burn them in

 Pretty much all BAs are like that. Get the tips, push them far in your ear, give your ears time to adjust and let them burn in and you will have a fantastic experience. Thanks for watching, guys.

 You're also going to need to give your ears time to adjust, okay? Everybody says the same thing, and I mean everybody, me included. When you first get these things, they don't sound good. The mids sound terribly recessed, the treble sounds recessed, it doesn't sound great. You absolutely must get some new ear tips
