This pricey pot is still the one to beat. It was the most durable and user-friendly with comfortable handles and lower, straight sides that made it easy to move, load, and unload.  They quickly replied that it was the customer's responsibility to pay for the postage and that this was clearly stated on the warranty.  However, I checked the warranty FAQ on Le Creuset's website, and it says "After you receive the authorization number, mail the cookware (postage prepaid) to the address below". It does not say who is footing for the prepaid postage. The customer? Or Le Creuset?  The way I read it was that Le Creuset would send me a prepaid postage stamp for returning the dutch oven! Since I shelled out so much for a Le Creuset, I'd expect them to at least be decent enough to pay for the return postage, especially since Le Creuset dutch ovens are so heavy that the return postage could easily amount to a third the price of the dutch oven itself

 After every use, I've always handwashed the Le Creuset and let it air dry outside.  Never mind that the Le Creuset dutch oven didn't even hold up in quality compared to the cheaper Lodge line, but the warranty service is even more terrible! When I had a problem with my Lodge dutch oven, all I did was email the Lodge customer service with photos of the problem area and they sent me a replacement IMMEDIATELY, no questions asked! I emailed them over the Labor Day weekend so I had expected a reply only several days later. But what do you know? Lodge replied me FIRST THING the next day morning at 930am. In about 2 weeks, I received my replacement Lodge dutch oven

Rusted after 2 months and terrible return service!

 If I had gotten mine at a sharply discounted 'seconds' price, I would have put foil over the pan before putting on the lid to make a nice tight fit and never given it a second thought. After all, if you're going to cook in this type of oven, you don't want all your steam to escape while cooking because the lid doesn't sit right. But for a first quality oven sold for a first quality price, I was very disappointed and I returned mine. Now I don't know what I'm going to do about it

 I'm not sure what this means. Has Le Creuset quality gone downhill? Do certain size ovens have more of a problem than others? Should this particular oven have been sold on the 'seconds' market in an outlet store and somehow it got past their quality control? If I order another one, what are the chances its lid will also wobble? Mine also had a few pinholes in the enamel.  I want a cast iron dutch oven like this one where I can be certain the lid will fit properly.

 I rotated the lid an inch at a time and kept retesting to see if maybe it needed to sit a certain way to fit correctly. It wobbled in every possible orientation. I examined the lid and there were three 'lumps' in the lip which apparently were causing it to not sit flat on the pan. I went to a local cookware store and was able to examine their Le Creuset ovens on display

We just purchased our first Le Creuset dutch oven and having paid close to $300 for it, we were very disappointed to find that the top of the unit is visibly skewed so that it doesn't lay flat either on a flat counter or on the pot, and therefore rocks considerably. When it sits on the pot, some points along the top are 3/16" above the top of the base, while other points along the top fit tighly against the top of the base. We will be returning this unit in the hopes that the next one we receive will not be skewed.

 Our 4.5 quart enameled dutch oven began rusting around the edge and in the part of the lid that touches the edge. The company's response was to suggest seasoning the exposed cast iron after removing the rust. So the enamel apparently is not warranted and does not hold up as advertised

 It may not be a consideration for most people, but if you are thinking of giving this as a gift for your 90 year old frail grandmother, you may want to think again. That said though, Le Creuset cookware is the best, and every household should have at least one decent sized French oven like this.

 Yum! So easy, and the 'taters got perfectly browned and flavorful without getting burned or mushy.  The only caveat I would offer is that the Le Creuset cookware is very heavy. It may not be a consideration for most people, but if you are thinking of giving this as a gift for your 90 year old frail grandmother, you may want to think again. That said though, Le Creuset cookware is the best, and every household should have at least one decent sized French oven like this

Great, Versatile Cookware for a Lifetime

There's nothing more to be said about the all-around fabulousness of Le Creuset French (or Dutch) ovens. They're my favorite for making long-cooking sauces, stews, pot roasts, etc. Nothing better IMO.  I've been using Le Creuset since 1979, but I never had one larger than the 4

7.25 qt. size is just right for a big pot of Bolognese.
