Leatherman Curl

I broke the tip off on my Leatherman Curl. I have had it for a bit over a month brought it on the day it came out and the tip of the pliers broke off last night while I was taking the cover off a machine to check the chain in it. Before I had the curl I had a Skeletool cx for a couple years and never had a problem.

For on shift and on the truck, I keep a Curl in my pocket. I modded the main blade to have Veff serrations for things like cutting ropes in a rescue sitch, cutting seatbelts in a vehicle collision, and removing patient's clothing during medical emergencies. I was thinking of upgrading to the Charge blade in S30V, but I always always always have a big non-serrated pocket knife like the Manix 2 XL in my other pocket, so 420HC will do just fine for the occasional need for a serrated blade.

So I ordered the Curl exactly at midnight when it was first released and just got it in the mail. First impressions — even though it’s only 1.5oz lighter than the Wave, it feels much, much lighter than that. It doesn’t have the saw or serrated blade like the Wave does, which removes an entire layer of weight. The blade and file are outside accessible and locking, but the inside tools are not — they are slipjoint.
