/\s/ This is why I have two sets of brightness/\s/results. If you set Vantage to dGPU mode and/\s/ reboot. This doesn’t happen, so it's a bit annoying/\s/but there’s a workaround. A Lot of the options in here/\s/ can also be modified through the Vantage software/\s/anyway, such as GPU overclocking or flip to boot,/\s/ which automatically powers on/\s/the laptop when you open the lid

 I Have seen this/\s/ with other brands in the past right as they/\s/launch a new model. They seem to just price/\s/ it super high hoping that the people that/\s/really want it are going to pay the extra./\s/ So Yeah, hopefully this changes pretty shortly,/\s/because yeah, realistically, $1800 for a 3050 Ti/\s/ that’s kind of a joke regardless of the laptop/\s/chassis that it’s in. You could easily get way/\s/ better performance from an RTX 3060, maybe even/\s/a 3070 in some cases for that type of money,/\s/ so it just doesn’t make sense assuming performance/\s/is something you’re after

 For Example: if we select dGPU mode in Vantage,/\s/we still need to reboot to apply the change,/\s/ which is regular MUX switch behavior. To/\s/actually use Advanced Optimus, you need to/\s/ have Vantage on hybrid mode, then go into the/\s/Nvidia control panel to set it how you’d like,/\s/ So it’s a bit clunky right now, but I’ve/\s/been told this could change in an update. The 16” screen is 16:10 with a resolution/\s/slightly bigger than standard 1440p,/\s/ just like last year. I’ve got the 165Hz panel,/\s/but apparently there’s a 240Hz option too

 Price aside though,/\s/, which as mentioned, will change over time,/\s/let’s discuss both the good and the bad/\s/ aspects of the 5i Pro to help you decide if/\s/it’s a laptop you should consider buying. The 12th Gen CPU Performance is excellent due to/\s/high power limits, while the lower CPU power limit/\s/ when the GPU is also active seems to prevent/\s/it getting too hot and needing louder fans. The 300 watt power brick is still huge,/\s/but you can get a smaller 230 watt version,/\s/ not to mention Type-C charging now/\s/goes higher to 135 watts. Still though,/\s/ when I compare it to the size of Razer’s 280 watt/\s/charger I think there could be an improvement,/\s/ though that probably would raise the cost

Lenovo Legion 5i Pro (2022) Review - Still One Of The Best?

I just wanted a gaming laptop for under 800$, i don't game too much, since I'm a student, however, laptop of a good brand with the best gaming specs would be appreciated. Thanks!


Best gaming laptop under 800$

  Many companies use Intel or AMD’s yearly leap in processor generations as an opportunity to completely reinvent their laptops or desktops. Lenovo hasn’t gone that far with its 15-inch Legion 5i, but I’m not complaining too much. It’s still an attractive, yet plainly designed gaming laptop that I think could attract a broader audience than just gamers. 

 Alas, your main reward for spending more cash here simply results in a faster computer, and one that’s still relatively affordable compared to similarly configured 15.6-inch computers from competitors like Razer and MSI. 

 If you want a laptop that can play most of your games at 60 frames per second without docking the visuals much, it’s the only configuration offered that’s worth any serious consideration.

 It might be hard to tell them apart if you’re standing a few feet away, though the Legion 5i has the distinct advantage with double the RAM and storage, a slightly faster refresh rate in the display (144Hz from 120Hz), and the stronger RTX 2060. These specs make a noticeable improvement in the performance, and having now reviewed both machines, the $350 price hike that these specs incur seems acceptable, as much as I wish it offered the RTX 2060 in a cheaper configuration. I also wish Lenovo had included something else in addition here, like a Thunderbolt 3 port, to make the jump up more rewarding.

 It’s Not amazing compared to others, even the 144Hz panel in last year’s Legion 5 was more than 2ms faster,. so hopefully the overdrive mode gets improved in a future software update, as the Lenovo site claims a 3ms response time with overdrive. This is the amount of time it takes from a mouse button press to when a gunshot fires in. CS:GO

 The Vantage Software also gives us the option to enable or disable panel overdrive, which should affect screen response time. I Didn’t actually find a difference between overdrive on or off though, so not sure if this was a bug, but we’re looking at just under a 7ms average grey-to-grey response time. It’s Not amazing compared to others, even the 144Hz panel in last year’s Legion 5 was more than 2ms faster,. so hopefully the overdrive mode gets improved in a future software update, as the Lenovo site claims a 3ms response time with overdrive

 It also has TPM 2.0. Once GPU overclocking is enabled in the BIOS, the Vantage software reflects this and shows you it’s on, but yeah, I couldn’t see a way of adjusting it here. I booted an Ubuntu 21 live CD to test Linux support

The Total system latency was on the slower side, with more inconsistent results as per the higher standard deviation. Backlight bleed was very minor, I Never noticed it during normal use, but it will vary between laptop and panel

Lenovo Legion 5 (2021) Review - Still Best Ryzen Gaming Laptop?

Hey all, I know this topic has been discussed many times, am still hoping for some help.

So I'm considering either the Yoga 7 pro (5800h, 2.8k version) or the Ideapad 5 pro (5800h, rtx3050, 16). The specs are fine on either, but neither are available in a store for me to test out. I tried the Yoga and found the keyboard and trackpad to be excellent, but if the Ideapad has the same keyboard and trackpad I would rather have the larger screen and the gpu (also the sd card reader is a bonus for me)

(the legion 5 pro 16 could be an outside candidate, but I have a desktop computer so don't really need a gaming laptop)

Anyone tested out both and would share their impression on keyboard/trackpad differences?

 As The 5i is based on Intel’s 11th Gen/\s/it means we get both Thunderbolt 4 and/\s/ faster PCIe Gen 4 storage, though/\s/the SSD that came installed in my/\s/ unit doesn’t actually appear to be taking/\s/advantage of that,. and in general I have/\s/ found Intel based laptops to beat AMD’s Ryzen/\s/in both gaming and content creator workloads.. The X16 memory still holds back/\s/the Intel based 5i model though,/\s/ but that said, it was still pumping out some of the/\s/best results out of any 3060 machine I’ve tested

Lenovo Legion 5i Review - 17" Gone Wrong

This was my first gaming laptop and after a lot of research i just found out that the legion 5i version runs at a wimpy 80 watts- This rtx 2060 cards are designed to get a TDP of 115W. Lenovo blocked this rtx 2060 compromising HUGE performance gains.

I bought this to replace a gaming desktop I have as I need to be more mobile but still need the power. I am not a gamer, but I produce and mix music and videos. This machine has not let me down and seems to run even better than my desktop did. The screen is great, the keyboard is comfortable and responsive (although I'd love a little more room on the number pad)

 It's pretty cool, all right. So that is the internal of this system. Uh, there's speakers on the left and right. They sound like gaming laptop speakers

 Because here's the thing. I don't think this is worth getting because of the existence of this machine. This is a inferior product in basically every manner. It's not as well built, it has worse performance, It has worse thermals

 All right. So this is a pretty solid system overall. Now if you remember in the beginning of this video, I mentioned that the starting price of this thing was supposed to be like 850 or 900? it is, but there's a bit of. um, there's a bit of a twist to that

 so if you need it, you don't have access to that. But there's four Usb-a's so there's two on the back and one on each side, so it's got this healthy dose of Usb-a on the system. All right. So this is a pretty solid system overall
