The Salomon MTN and Atomic Backland are identical in design, function and construction.&#41; The Marker Alpinist is newer than the Atomic/Salomon, lighter, and offers a slightly improved downhill skiing function. Both hit the sweet spot for weight to performance ratio and offer all the basic features we look for in a touring binding. You wouldn't be wrong to flip a coin in your choice for an all-around AT binding for human-powered backcountry skiing, as the Atomic and Marker award winners are both that good and that close in scoring. 
We now have a couple of full seasons on them and only reinforce our findings with ongoing testing. We'll keep hammering on them but are confident they will hold up. These AT bindings are marketed as "ultralight" ski bindings, implying a specialized niche. We beg to differ. The Alpinist is capable of virtually all your human-powered skiing needs. For resort use, the Alpinist is indeed "ultralight", with all the caveats that label implies. If you wish to ride the same equipment in bounds and out, first check yourself. Is that really a compromise you are willing to make? Human-powered skiing is our focus, and the Marker Alpinist does all you need to do in that environment. Others are lighter but far less featured. Others offer at least a couple more downhill skiing attributes and benefits but are way, way heavier.  As you see the break, if the clothes come in, it comes in very nice, so and now how the break is working when we use it for working. You just push forward this metal, and then you could step on and the break is closed for walking. So after walking you just go back with this pin and the brake is open again.  It weighs in at 335 grams or 245 grams without the break and that's per binding. The brakes weigh about 90 grams, so a nice addition, but a super lightweight pure tech, binding from marker, which is an awesome binding for those people that want to go dedicated ski touring on a nice light, ski touring, ski as well. It'S got a release. Value of 6 to 12 break wits come in 90, 105 and 112 millimeters and then the risers on this binding

 So it keeps things really really light. So, overall, a super light weight tech binding from marker new last year, highly recommended ideal for a lightweight ski, like this, like the blizzard zero g 105 that we also reviewed on the site price is $ 499.99. Canadian are $ 395 u

 Depending on release you want, then the toe piece up front here has a lock out as well made for climbing. So this is in climbing mode here and it's made out of a forged aluminum and carbon fiber reinforced polygamy plastic. So it keeps things really really light. Ski touring tips: How to perform best with the Marker Alpinist bindings.

Sam: We’ve been A/B/C/D-ing all of the bindings in this test against each other for several weeks now, and there are a few important overall takeaways from our testing.

Boots Used: Scarpa Maestrale RS; Nordica Strider 120; Tecnica Zero G Tour Pro; Salomon S/Lab MTN

But here’s the CliffsNotes version: we mounted four pairs of 300-400 gram touring bindings on the exact same ski to test them all head-to-head. The bindings we’re including are the Alpinist 12, the Dynafit TLT Speed, The Hagan Core / ATK Raider 12 2.0, and the Atomic Backland Tour / Salomon MTN.

The Alpinist 12 is one of the most fully featured bindings in the test, yet it still comes in at a very similar weight to the other options. So how does it actually perform in the mountains? Blister reviewer Luke Koppa and I have both been using the Alpinist 12, so we’ll both be weighing in here.

Toe unit is interesting in that the base chassis is carbon reinforced plastic, bold move. But let us meditate for the toe pins receiving the same attention, as Marker has indeed had problems in the past with weak pins.
