There is basically no privacy in this tent at all if the rainfly is not on it. I personally like keeping the fly off if it's nice out and I can look out at the stars as I sleep. I don't think I would feel really comfortable doing that in this tent considering the back door is 100% mesh. The front door, I think, is fully mesh too.

We have a family of 5 and we love our Marmot Halo 6p. It’s great for ventilation, intense weather, and height.

Also site selection is important. If you can pitch this between trees rather than in the open that will be better. This will have the trees act as wind screens and should provide some more protection. If you need a family camping tent in the wind then I would suggest something more storm worthy like the REI Base Camp 6p, Marmot Halo 6p, Big Agnes Mad House, Sierra Designs Nomad, MSR Habbitude etc.

Instant up tents suck and have bad reviews for a reason. They are heavy, have huge pack sizes and lack mesh walls for breathability. Most are also single walls and have condensation problems. You want a double walled family camping tent like the Marmot Halo 6p, Limestone 4p/6p, Big Agnes Bunk House etx.
