 So as you have your rain fly on, you're going to have even more living space to use. We cook in that we do all sorts of stuff in that we still store our gear in there so you're going to have plenty of space with this tent. Some of the last things I really like about this is it's freestanding. I love that because when you're in Utah on slick rock or in places that you can't pitch your tent, it's great

Love it but maybe not the best in the wind

 There's also a nice storm flap in front of this zipper and it's a two-way zipper, so you can actually have this all the way zipped down and then unzip it a little bit from the top to have some more ventilation. You don't see that on every tent and again, it's a small detail, but it does make a big difference. As far as the materials in the rain fly, you have really durable material. This isn't an ultra lightweight tent

 There's also some little velcro tabs on the inside of the rain fly I would attach those to all the poles to just keep everything together with the Limelight tent. Here, you're getting an included footprint. You're getting a tent that's relatively lightweight and packable, but you have all of the livability inside there and it's going to keep you really comfortable for camping and backpacking. The Marmot Limelight three person tent you

 so it's all clips. You get an included footprint which adds a lot of value to it. And because the footprint has clips on it, that clip to the rain fly. You can do a fast pitch or a dry pitch design, basically taking the footprint, setting up the poles with it, and putting the rain fly over top

 you can hang that in there. and there's a lampshade pocket as well, so that lampshade pocket will diffuse the light from your headlamp and create a really even an ambient light on the Inn side of the tent. So again, another little feature that goes a long way for comfort. Now, there's plenty of room on the inside for three campers or two people who just want a little bit more space

Marmot Limelight 3P 3-Season Backpacking Tent

My friend and I have been avid day hikers for years and now we're trying to get into backpacking and camping in order to extend our fun over the course of a few days. After some time looking through Reddit, searching on google, and speaking with my coworker who used to backpack, we've decided on the Marmot Limelight 3P Tent. Any general thoughts on this tent? I'm assuming we would prefer the 3P over 2P for the added room. Am I right to assume this or is the 2P sufficient for this kind of tent?

Easy to set up and has really nice features. The ONLY reason I’m not giving the tent 5 stars is because it’s not as roomy as advertised. I purchased a 3 person tent. In order to fit 3 people, all three would be touching each other and also squeezed against the sides

 All right. let's go over some of the specifications of the Marmot Limelight: 3p. Uh, three-person backpack packing tent. Uh, the packed weights

 Uh, it says it's got three poles, which it does, and number of vestibules too. All right, I'm not gonna bore you with a lot of really specifics. You can go to Marmot's website and check them out and look over the exact, uh, square surface area the tent takes up and and other, uh, details about the tent. I'm just gonna go over what I think about it and um, show you how I set it up

 Uh, I don't want to bore you too much with me setting up my tent, but this will just give you a quick idea. uh, how I do it. So [Music] So, so um, all right. so let's take a tour of this thing

 backpacking tent. I've owned my Marmot for about five years and uh, I've used it everywhere you can possibly think of. uh, from the beach, uh, to the snow, to the Uh mountains and I have, uh, really enjoyed it. I think it's the best tent I've ever owned

MARMOT LIMELIGHT 3P REVIEW

I find that the Marmots are a good blend of strength and weight but I do NOT backpack with them. It’s all been car camping with a carry-in of a mile or so.

In dry conditions the Nemo seems great. Let the skies open up and I think I’d be safer in the Limelight.

Gear Help

 At roughly 7 lbs with ground cloth and stakes, the Marmot Limelight 3P is at least twice as heavy as a high-end backpackers tent but is also less than 1/2 the weight of most cabin and 6 person tents. So far it's the best compromise I've found for being long enough to sleep in and light enough to carry a few miles. While I wish it weighed a pound or two less, it's truly a pleasure to sleep in, especially if you're over 6 feet tall. It rained all night the last time I used it

 Since most tents have sloping sidewalls, even if the tent is 7 1/2 feet long, it's usually not long enough for my feet to not rub against the wall. While I have no problem in cabin tents or 6 person tents, those are too heavy for backpacking and are limited to car camping only (unless you have a pack mule). This is the lightest tent that I know if that comfortably sleeps someone over 6 feet tall without having your head or feet rub against the tent walls. I'm 6'1'' and hate being in a tent where my feet are pressed against one wall and my head against the other. The Only 3 Person Tent for People Over 6 Feet Tall

So I've been wanting to get into camping and general "outdoorsing" for a while now, and since I'll be getting my first car soon, I think it's also time to finally purchase a tent.

I'm likely going to start with some casual car camping and hiking and hopefully progress into backpacking and long-distance treks as I gain experience. So my ideal tent is something 3- or 4-season, 2-person, not too cumbersome, and strong against the elements. I want to sleep soundly knowing that my tent won't give up the ghost during a sudden storm, but also something simple to set up and practical. Price is not a major obstacle.

I had been looking at the Eureka! Timberline SQ 2XT, as Eureka seems to make pretty solid products and I've always been fond of A-frame tents, but I've been able to find very little information about it online outside of general specs and features, and there's only one retailer in Canada that appears to sell it, forget the accessories for it.

The MSR Elixir 2 was another tent I had been considering, but if you have another suggestion, or you or someone you know has experience with the above-mentioned models, then (keeping in mind I'm pretty new to this) any advice would be greatly appreciated!
