I am looking for a durable, long lasting razor for shaving my face. I have to shave frequently (ever day or so) for work and I feel bad using disposable razors due to the wastefulness of the product. 

Does anyone know of any good razors that you can still buy in stores today? I want one that provides a good shave and holds up over time. I do understand that Ill have to change out the blades from time to time because blades get dull or rust. Any feedback or recommendations are appreciated!

Men’s Razor (for shaving face)

 The Edwin jagger razor came with a 5 pack of Feather blades. Now I’m a Feather blade guy for life as I feel like I get a much closer shave especially paired with my new razor. I will finish off my Willkinson supply and purchase Feather blades going forward. The Merkur is a great starter blade but for me the handle was just too short and I wanted something a bit more refined

 Afte time I felt like the handle was a bit short for me. So I recently bought an Edwin Jagger hi end razor blade with a longer handle and order it over the merkur 34c which is now collecting dust in my shaving box. The Edwin jagger razor came with a 5 pack of Feather blades. Now I’m a Feather blade guy for life as I feel like I get a much closer shave especially paired with my new razor

 This is a great razor for beginners and I rarely cut myself. I bought a year and a half supply of Wilkinson sword blades and have paired it with this razor for some really good results. Afte time I felt like the handle was a bit short for me. Great starter razor but a bit too short for me and not a super close shave.

 They've got three or four or five blades and they're cutting that many times with one pass. This has one blade on each side or whatever, so it's only cutting with one blade per pass. In order to get what the other ones are doing, you've got to do it three or four times to get the same kind of a shave. I guess that's the reason people do that, but I get a pretty darn good shave by just doing it twice

 Don't be disappointed if you cut yourself a few times. Just take it slow. It took me a little while to get used to it. But before you know it, you'll be whizzing through it and shaving in no time at all

 I highly recommend it. I give the Merkur 34C HD razor a big thumbs up. I think they did a good job on designing it and making it where it's very easy to service and to keep clean and it lasts a long time. The chrome is holding up very well on it and everything

Best beginner Merkur Razor?

First time using a safety razor after switching up from the three blade. Definitely treats my skin better and I'm enjoying creating less plastic waste.

As a beginner, I found this to be very heavy in comparison. That's fine, but I think my next purchase will be something with a longer handle. Combining the weight with a short handle makes this thing a little crazy to hang on to, especially if it's wet. I'm betting that this will just take some getting used to

Excellent change of pace

 The 34C holds the blade very close to the safety bar at a very mild angle. It's an excellent razor for beginners because of this, but guys with really tough or dense beards like myself may find that they have to do 3 or 4 passes to really get a close shave. We rate the aggressiveness of the 34C a 2 out of 10. Merkur's suggested retail price is around $50 for the 34C, although the street price does seem to vary wildly due to all of the gray market sellers on the internet

 The 34C has a chrome plated brass handle that's been riveted to a die cast zinc alloy base plate. The top cap is chrome plated die cast zinc alloy. The design is unique in that the top cap of the razor screws into the handle deep inside. So the threads are typically not susceptible to soap scum build up, which extends the life of the razor

Which DE Razor is considered the mildest?

E: Let the weight of the razor do all the work- don't pull the razor- just line it up, give a quick angle to have the blade make contact and let the weight of the razor do the work

 Reminds me of a time from long ago. I almost didn't shave the first time as I was so worried that I was going to Nick myself and walk around looking like a 14 year old kid with band aids- but that didn't happen-- I followed all the good advice from other reviews and went at it.

A: Buy quality- I almost bought the $19.99 as seen on TV razor from the history Channels "Pawn Stars" reality show ( I love that show-) but after reading the reviews it was obvious that for slightly more money- just a little bit more I could do better. So go with quality- and get a HEAVY razor that is of heirloom quality.

D: Buy a high quality shaving soap- and use hot hot water and your brush to really get a great lather. ( I just went with the #1 seller on Amazon and was very happy-- it's smoothness and scent was an instant hit and I knew all was good)

 Welcome to Fitness and Beer. I'm Larry Powell and welcome back to the lab. Yo, what's up fellas? I'm super excited today because today we're talking about another double edge safety razor. And today we're going to be shaving with the Mercure 34C

 Now I've spent the better part of the last 30 days shaving exclusively with this razor. And what do I think? Well, I have to start in one very specific place. And that is for someone that when they shave with a double-edged safety razor, I have a tendency to cut myself. And I've used this razor for a month and I have not cut myself one time

 Well, let's get to the unboxing. ["Dog on Fire"] Once you open up the package, you will notice that this product has a nice build and a nice chrome finish. Both the weight and the feel of the handle, like I said, I kind of end up holding it with two fingers while I'm shaving, but it's working out well. And I don't like to jump to conclusions too quickly, but seeing as though I completed a whole head shave without cutting myself at all, I'm really liking the mildness of this razor and compared to my Gillette King C, I mean, just off of first impression, this is a better first impression

 So I do have one bone to pick, and that was, there was a couple of times when I noticed that the Merkur, it wasn't just quite getting me clean. And even after going over it with multiple passes, and I went over it again with the Gillette Labs razor with the exfoliating bar, and I looked at the razor afterwards and there was still quite a bit of hair residue left behind from the Merkur that ultimately the Gillette Labs was able to pick up. Okay, we got the parts of my face that I shaved ready to go, all lathered up, and now we're gonna try part two. We just completed my first experience and I thought it was pretty smooth head shave
