I believe this guy retails for 439 dollars, so it is a bit pricey. Definitely, but it's it's the quality you're getting if you're getting a down parka...

Good luck trying to return cottage gear, especially clothing, like this 3, the craftsmanship on factory-made gear is just more consistent and more dur...

I can pull this thing out of my pack with my quilt and XLite already in it, slip the ZLite in, puff up the XLite, and I'm ready for bed. I appreciate that. If I were expecting heavy snow, I'd have brought a big sheet of polycro to burrito under for ingress and egress, and that would have been fine. I would never use this thing if there were any chance for rain, but for this kind of scenario, it works really nicely.

Recently got this Montbell Superior down jacket - a really great jacket, great build quality etc. However it is missing a hem cinch, which I find pretty annoying. I'm looking for a way to add a shock cord all the way around, with a toggle at each side of my waist for adjustment. (The sort of thing you'd find on any hardshell etc).

So far had it on three trips and it's done well. I have a hooded Montbell Superior down jacket that's 8 oz and does a good job on chilly evenings and mornings.

Montbell superior is slightly heavier 5.5 oz with 1.6oz 800 fill down versus the mini lites 1.87 oz of 850 fill down and a total weight of 5.11 oz for size medium. You can grab the Japanese version from Montbell Japan for slightly cheaper, like $95 shipped versus $155 shipped for the mini lite.

Stuffed with 800 fill down, there is no question that this coat offers high-quality componentry at a great value.
