[REVIEW] MSI Pulse GL66 – Core i7-11800H is here to stay

 It's safe to say you'll need your charger with you for this laptop. The GL66 also weighs around 4.63 pounds, which is quite heavy even for a gaming laptop. The bulky nature of the laptop combined with its poor battery life means that most users will not carry this laptop around with them

 Some people may prefer other laptops in this category such as the MSI Stealth 15M, which is cheaper, but the performance of the GL66 is more important for gaming purposes. The Razer Blade 15 can also be found in this category, but it has a much weaker GPU for a similar price. As far as the battery life goes, the GL6 is not an impressive performer. The rated battery life is only 3 hours on a full charge, which is abysmal in the modern world

(The thing with this one is that It has a  85 watt RTX 3070, not 130W watt as advertised on the spec sheet on Amazon, so idk how that’s gonna affect the rhythm of the laptop, also I don’t know if it’s better to have a 3060 with a higher wattage if that’s the case.

I really need help choosing guys, I’m between MSI GL66, Acer Predator Helios 300 and ASUS ROG Strix G17

 Granted I have it charged to 80% to maintain a healthy battery life but even at maximum battery. I'm going to keep tinkering with the system to see if I can further optimize but I can't have a computer that dies so quickly. I don't want to be wired all the time which may be a fatal flaw for me.

 Battery life is pretty poor and the initial hard drive and ram speeds could be better. It's a bit loud when gaming but to be expected with such a powerhouse component set.

 But, I have a medium spec computer with a GTX 1080ti that I can use to play games and I'll be returning this and getting an Ultrabook with a great screen, fast processor, long battery life to use away from my PC (this computer has 2 of 3). Just makes more sense when I can stream from my computer to play games and I'm not having to rush to plug the thing in every hour. I may look for another gaming laptop but I just want something I can work on without feeling rushed or getting wrapped up in the cord.

When I looked for that 2nd charger, all I searched for (on ebay) was "MSI GL65 charger", and that used HP charger was the cheapest one that came up. I figured it was good since that's not a no-name brand, plus the guy had it listed as being an MSI GL65 charger in the listing title. While the charger did plug in, and did charge my battery, it could not support playing without bogging down. The original charger is a 14 amp, whereas that HP one was a 7

Struggles w/ GTA5 on low settings **Update 2/22/2021 Problem fixed!**

 Now, the laptop is mainly built out of plastic with the exception of the lid which if I had to guess is made out of aluminum. There are visible lines on the lid trying to reflect the new Pulse naming but other than that, it has a fairly muted design. The base has this new honeycomb pattern that also makes room for more air to enter the chassis. Despite the plastic build, the chassis didn't flex at all when stressed

 Before talking about the surface temperatures, I want to give you some insights on the CPU and the GPU temps. Both the CPU as well as the GPU as you can see were able to handle the loads very well. The CPU was sitting at around 90 degrees Celsius which is way under its TJ Maxx limit of 100 degrees Celsius and even the GPU was running surprisingly cool in this chassis. Speaking of leaving no room for complaints, we have the design and the build quality of the MSI Pulse GL66

 The lid can also be opened with a single hand and the hinge here feels nice and stable. The bezels are also quite slim around the display but both the chin and the forehead are relatively more pronounced and pack a couple of mics and a HD webcam. Overall, I really like the simple design of this gaming laptop. Even at just 2

 Is that surprising? Well, not really because it's a tiny battery at the end of the day that has to power hardware like an i7 processor and an RTX 3060 GPU. In terms of real world usage, the Pulse GL66 managed to last for about 5-6 hours when I lowered the brightness a little bit while doing my day to day work. I also noticed that the laptop discharges quite a bit even though it's connected to a charger while playing games. So I suggest you to charge this laptop only with the cable and the adapter included in the box and not with something else
