Anyone have any experience using this with the MSR pocket rocket? Does it work well?

 This resulted in a bit more loss of fuel. What the pocket rocket saves in weight in minimal as you will need another fire source to light the stove, but you carry that anyway. So.

Hey all.  I just wanted to let you know beforehand, this shakedown will include two links.  Just wanted to show how my base weight will change once the weather warms up.  I don't necessarily need a shakedown on both lol

**Location/temp range/specific trip description:**

Appalachian Trail Thru, starting March 5th.  Expecting all of the temperatures and all of the weather.

**Goal Baseweight (BPW):** 

As low as possible.  I feel relatively dialed in here, so I am not sure how much lower I can get without dropping some big dollars.  

**Budget:** 

I can spend \~500ish more, but would prefer to spend less than $250usd.  I own everything that is currently listed.

**Non-negotiable Items:** 

I'd really prefer to keep the Ursack and the mug.  I absolutely loathe hanging a bear bag every night.  For just a night or two? Fine.  Anything longer than 100 miles though, it isn't worth it.

As for the mug, I really like coffee during breakfast, but I can probably be convinced to drop it.

\- Is the puffy + the fleece overkill?  I am obsessed with my Patagonia R1 air.  I told my boyfriend I would marry it the other day lol.  But I love to use it as a midlayer when I hike (I've been wandering around the snowy, freezing mountains of Vermont with it on recently), which is why I listed both.  I figured the puffy would be a nice, cry static layer whereas the R1 may be wet if I use it during the day.

\- It is worth noting that I have never hiked down south and am used to hiking in very cold winter temps primarily in New Hampshire and Vermont.  I have pretty much packed according to the weather here, as I am having trouble getting a good sense of it down south. Obviously, I know it gets cold, lol, especially with a March start.  And I am afraid of the rain...but I want to make sure I'm not going majorly overkill with the clothes.

\- Oh.  I would love a cheap, light puffy recommendation if y'all have one.  The down in my current nanopuff is not killing it anymore lol

Newbie looking for a 2-person cooking system. I need help with selecting the stove and the cookware/pots etc as I am starting from scratch. Price is not a problem, but I need help understanding what the best/lightest option is for my trail conditions. I'm in the UK, backpacking 3-season so my major concern is that it's often windy, rainy and cold near freezing 0C/30F in the hills here.

As a total noob I have been doing a lot of reading and some options I found so far:

- MSR WindBurner Duo
- JetBoil MiniMo
- Soto Windmaster

The MSR WindBurner Duo comes with a 1.8L pot and cozy and weights 480g. You can nest an extra MSR 1L pot and cozy, which weights another 270g. It's a remote stove so I wonder if this is the best option for windy conditions if I put down a big wind shield around it? My biggest question is whether this is overkill, 1.8L + 1L seems quite a lot for two people but at the same time having two pots is kind of essential.

JetBoil MiniMo comes with a 1L pot and cozy and weights 415g. Seems to have pretty good performance on windy conditions even without a wind shield? Also seems to get a bit of hate in this sub :). My biggest question is what other pot to pair it with for two people, not sure if there's any option that fits neatly inside/outside of it like the MSR WindBurner.

Soto Windmaster is the lightest option by far at 86g, but needs to be paired with pot/cups and cozys and probably needs a gas canister support as well and I'm concerned this isn't a remote stove so not sure how to pair it with a wind shield. This much stuff to chose from to be honest is quite overwhelming for a newbie like me :)

2 person cook system help

  Second: There is only full blast, or below a simmer. The Pocket Rocket 2 that I received sprays flame or has none. No amount of adjusting changes this.  I am hoping that what I received is a faulty product, or the minimum standard passable by any quality control

 They do not support themselves upright and placing a pot is tricky without them falling until the pot is in place. Any incline and the pots weight will cause the stands to fall. The stands weight distribution with the angle they are at are poorly designed. If the stands were able to be tightened further without stripping the threads, this wouldn't be an issue until heavy use
