2021 Never Summer Harpoon Review | Curated

Hey All,

I’ve been snowboarding now for almost 7 years, but I just bought my first board. I decided to spend a little extra since I’ve been snowboarding for a while now, I wanted an all mountain freestyle. I purchased the 2023 Never Summer Proto Synthesis. I’ve seen tons of positive reviews online about the brand, but I’ve also seen tons of negative reviews online about the brand as well. People seem to praise their boards, but say they’re overpriced for the materials and quality of the board. 

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the brand and boards? I’ve always rented or used friend’s equipment, so I don’t have too much to base my comparisons off of. I’ve primarily rode on cheaper boards (i.e. Burton, Nitro, Rome, K2).

2023 Men's Harpoon Snowboard | Never Summer Industries

Looking to get a new board this season and I've been considering the orca off and on for a while. I don't really have any interest in park so mainly it would be for powder, groomers, side hits, and whipping around in the trees. I kind of want to work on riding switch a bit more this season but not anywhere near top priority for me right now. Just wanted to see what people thought of the board.

Opinions on the Lib Tech Orca

I’m going out to Colorado in January and I’m looking to get a new board for a local shop before my trip. There are no places near me or near the local hills that do demos.

I’m looking at the Salomon Dancehaul which there are only a couple reviews of VS the Ride Superpig to which there are many reviews of currently.

I’m leaning more towards the Dancehaul but barely anyone has reviewed it and I likely won’t be able to try before buying.

Also, I’m keen on buying it before my trip because I want to support a local shop

Aggressive Mogul riders, what’s your board preference?

So my only board has been a Arbor Westmark camber 156. I’m 5’10” 215lbs. Board has been a great all mountain board. I’ve found I spend most my days in the trees looking for powder, and this board isn’t great for that. Looking to add either a Salomon Dancehaul or a Spring Break Slush Slasher as a powder/trees board that is also decent for doing some big carves on groomers. It won’t be for riding in the park, as I have the westmark. but maybe some side hits. Any advice?

<p>I mainly ride in California, some smaller resorts, Bear and mammoth. But I also spend a week each season in Colorado (steamboat) or around Salt Lake Utah.</p>

Finally looking to upgrade from my 15+ year old beginner board. Here's some context on me, where I ride, what I ride (style-wise).

Me: 6', 170 lbs, going into 3rd year of riding but comfortable hitting blacks on the hills I ride. Started riding boxes, rails, doing small jumps, doing tree runs, buttering, and doing flatland 180s last year.

Where I ride: currently midwest so mostly groomers. Snow in WI is usually hard-packed/icy, and never powder-like. Occasionally there's a nice layer of soft snow though. (So definitely not looking for a powder board, but a board that I can at least use on powder occasionally is a plus).

What I ride (style-wise): I've found I prefer playful runs with natural features, but also want to be able to do small jumps, rails, and boxes. I also really enjoy tree runs/off of the groomers, but have found my current board too long and stiff for comfortably maneuvering in tight/bumpy areas. Tree runs in the midwest tend to get packed down a bit. I ride switch 33% of the time hence the true twin, and I'd like a board I can butter with and also comfortably do 180s/360s at some point.

Boards I've looked at: Bataleon Evil Twin, GNU Riders Choice, Ride Twinpig, GNU Headspace, LibTech Box Knife, Capita DOA/Super DOA, Capita Asymulator. I know there were more I looked at last year but I can't remember them. Leaning towards the Bataleon.

Any insights/suggestions are highly appreciated!
