The [Proto Type is a solid choice, still only mid flex so you will still find it playful enough. Seeing that both the Funslinger and Proto Type two have been replaced, you might be able to find a pretty good deal on them now.

The shape also lacked pop and had somewhat of a deadzone to decamber the board when trying to ollie / pop hard. All in all, if you're looking for an aggressive / poppy board - it's not for you.

I have an older model of the swift, and personally, I thought it was a great powder board but not what I would pick as an all mountain board to bomb. If possible I would get one board for floating on powder and another for aggressive freeride. For your specific question, I think you are right, the FA is more freeride oriented than the swift. Although I do love Never summer and having owned the proto type 2, swift, and heritage, I ride the heritage the most since it's great in almost all conditions.

The Proto Type 2 is a solid choice as a hybrid, though it will have less pop than the Mountain Twin because of the rocker between your feet. It definitely won't be on sale (or cheap) but the newer [Proto has crazy edge hold compared to the Type 2, I think it is a giant step up in how it rides. I haven't ridden the Ride Algorythm but its features do look like they would be good. It was insane how good that board felt. Last season I got the Proto Type 2 and continue to love Neversummer. Bindings also made a huge difference. Going from whatever the Ride had to Burton Cartels to Union Force... the Unions have the most adjustability out of any other bindings I’ve owned and feel so good.

(really stiff tail and a softer nose) I ride mine setback about 3/4 of an inch at +/- 15 degrees. I literally ride this board in the deepest powder, tight trees, shred groomers, hit rails and booters. There's nothing that this board doesn't shred well. Since I've owned this board I've bought/ridden multiple lib techs, neversummer proto type two, a flat camber yes board, Burton flying v, and two gnu.
