The West Bound has a distinct, adaptable design with a pinch of taper, as well as the Recluse Web Carbon Layup. You are more efficient at floating, carving, and maneuvering on the westbound. 
Key Features:
- Fusion Rocker Camber – Fusion RC blends the float and surfy feel of Original RC in the front with the edge-gripping hold, snap out of corners, and enormous pop of Ripsaw RC in the back.
- Vario Power Grip Sidecut – Multiple radii are used in the Vario Power Grip Sidecut to add extra points of contact, improving edge hold. When flexed, a flat part in the rocker area gives a wide contact point; but, when unbent, it enables the board to track straight and avoid catching. The second and third contact sites are provided by two shallow radii that flank this straight portion. Deep radii near the sidecut's ends provide speedy turn initiation and the final contact places.

Never Summer West Bound 2020 On The Table

 So we're typically looking at an all mountain to free ride snowboard and what NeverSummer have done this year is they've changed it to their Fusion Rocker which is a more aggressive shape in the back with a bit more camber there and a gentler, more mellow rocker in the front which is going to enhance your lift in soft snow. So it just increases this board's capabilities to really get you floating in the soft stuff that's still remaining powerful and snappy on piste. Adam, one of our testers, rely on his feedback a lot. He's loved the West for years, it's kind of really suited towards his riding, his traditional all mountain rider loves to take it on and off the piste, zip in here, there and everywhere

 So I'm going to talk to you today about the new NeverSummer West Bound. It's west bound for this year as opposed to just west, so there are quite a few changes in this board and it just enhances the overall feel where this board was really aimed for. Never summer West Bound - 2020 Snowboard Review

 So the Never Summer Westbound for 2020 is a new snowboard from Never Summer or technically it's a variation on an old snowboard from Never Summer. The Never Summer West was a really popular all-mountain snowboard and they've changed it and tweaked it ever so slightly for 2020 and created the Westbound. So this is an intermediate to expert level snowboard, features a mid-stiff profile and the main sort of variations they've put on it from last year are its shape, its camber profiling and the carbon lay-ups. There's quite a few changes in the board this year, what I'm going to do is I'm going to run through those and explain what they are

 So the Never Summer Westbound is like I said, it's an all-mountain slightly freeride board. So they've changed it like I say from the previous years, Westbound's variation on an old model. It's now got a slightly more directional shape, it's still sort of all-mountain focused but they have moved the bindings back ever so slightly and they've also put a little bit of taper in it so that you get more effective side cut when you're carving down the mountain and they've just sort of pointed the nose on it, give you a little bit more nose on the front and just means you're going to sit a little bit further up on the back foot which makes it great for coming down in the powder and will just give you fantastic rise and lift up out of that nice light fluffy snow. So for 2020, the Westbound incorporates Never Summer's Fusion Rocker camber

 What that is, instead of one sweeping curve, it's five different angled side cuts. You can't really see it looking at it, but it is there. What that does is it produces a great level of edge hold rather than just having one slice in line that bites into the snow and those carbon turns, having those progressive angles just allows the board to bite into the snow at every stage through the carve and it'll just give you a fantastic amount of edge hold, especially when combined with that fusion camber rocker. This board's just great on the carve in and out of those turns

So P-Tex being the material you normally make the bases out of the snowboard out of, NeverSummer also made their side walls because it's more durable than ABS, it handles better colder temperatures, and it's just makes an incredibly strong board that adds to what I was talking about earlier, it takes away some of that vibration that you get through the board sometimes and just makes this board incredibly smooth to ride

Never Summer West Bound Snowboard Review 2020

 Let's check these things out. All right for all you diehard snowboarders out there, I think you pretty much agree that NeverSummer pretty much killed it when they named their company. I mean, NeverSummer, it sounds like it's snowing all the time, which is a dream for those for you guys and girls out there that just love to ride and would love to ride year round. All right, so for park boards, we're going to check out the Peacemaker

So they actually ride really, really well as all mountain boards as well

A Few Favorites From Never Summer For 2021

 Edge holds good, they're always just good, bordering on great with NeverSummer, it grips well. And turn initiation, it's pretty fast edge-to-edge, it's medium-fast, with the 160 versus the 157, 157 was a little faster, but it's great for people who are just going in and out of trees, weaving in around bumps, and that kind of stuff, if you need that quick edge-to-edge turn initiation, it's good. And then when you get out into that carve, yeah, you have to lean back a little bit more than you would, let's say the Old West, but getting that full camber off the tail and just leaning into it and how it springs out of the turn, I felt like it's comparable to some, almost up there with the way it springs out of the turn, like some mostly camber snowboards. Kind of up there, sometimes it feels more camber-rich than a lot of those hybrid cambers that have a good bit of early rocker

 As far as the shape goes, tapered, directional, it's like 6mm taper, and it's got that kind of Shaper Series camber profile that has kind of rip saw off the back, going to a little rocker in the middle, a mellow rocker in the middle, and then a mellow elliptical camber, which makes it pretty forgiving, just about anybody can... A beginner with a shit ton of cash could get on this, and it skids turns super easy, but it likes a little more weight on the back foot, on groomers, and then doesn't burn as much in powder

 This might not go back. Basing wise, this is the 160, and last year I had the 157. I think the 157 was maybe just a touch small, and the 160 feels a little more like my kind of board. It's more of a traditional free ride board, so you want to be a little bit bigger than your normal 57-ish all-mountain board

Never Summer West Bound 2021 Snowboard Review

 Never Summer has kind of some slight disruptions to the side cut, but really it's just about like just good grip. It doesn't grab in soft snow at all, but it's pretty good in hard snow. It's maybe not as good as some other boards with more disrupted side cuts, but it does a great job. Now turn initiation, I thought this was really fast

 So, the dimensions might not be optimal for my shoe size, but I could definitely feel, I've ridden the Ripsaw, and I could definitely feel the sort of Ripsaw in the back end, and I think that contributed to the edge hold. Yeah, it was a fun board. Great flex and lots of pop off the tail. Kind of reminded me of like the first time I got on the program

 You think it's going to be dead based on how well it absorbs chatter and then you pop off this and it just springs. It's really surprising. And I could butter this pretty easy. That rocker in the middle, check the on the table review, it just has this kind of real loose feel, but it allows you to butter easier than you would for what you think you would have for this flex

 To give you a quick summary, it has the West in the name and it basically took over where the West was, but it's really nothing like the West. It's tapered, it's directional, overall it's a very fun one board quiver for somebody who wants a little more directional riding in their life, a little more directional float and powder. And let's get into the pop and flex. It's kind of a medium, medium stiff
