 On arriving home I found the M7 had been released, so I ordered the M7 on discount for $400 and returned the 7. In use, I can tell you that the M7 is a significant step up from the other optics we have, including other Monarchs, Monarch 5, and various other smaller binoculars.

Our friends had an older Nikon Monarch (not 100% sure which one, it just said Nikon Monarch), which I tried and liked. In the store, they had the Monarch 5 and 7, and I much preferred the field of view of the 7, so purchased that. On arriving home I found the M7 had been released, so I ordered the M7 on discount for $400 and returned the 7. In use, I can tell you that the M7 is a significant step up from the other optics we have, including other Monarchs, Monarch 5, and various other smaller binoculars

I returned this item AT MY OWN EXPENSE because of the following: performance was no better than my pair of 40 year old Herter's; right eye adjustment was difficult and stiff to turn; the top lens cap was difficult to remove the first time and subsequently fell off whenever the binoculars were moved. Returning this item was costly due to its weight and Amazon covers only $3.99 of a $30 shipping expense. Better to go to a store where you can assess the item you wish to buy without being penalized for returning it

I would like to buy binoculars to try some birdwatching at an amateur level, as I've been dabbling in it for some time now and loving it. I checked several websites providing tips and advice; however, as a total beginner both in birdwatching and optics I still find myself at a loss when I have to make a decision, and I saw that the price gap between different products can be ridiculously huge. Can someone help me? I'm not ready to invest too much money on it yet (let's say \~150-200$ tops), but at the same time I'm looking for some decent quality product. Is it possibile within my budget, or I am dreaming? Thank you for your time!

Need help find binoculars for birdwatching

 If the lenses are not separated to the correct distance the user does not get a "full" view through the eyepieces - this is a custom adjustment that is different for everyone. In my case I have to fully separate the lenses to get the fullest view through the eyepieces - and I am fully adjusted to the stops on the binoculars. I'm not that large of a fellow, so, wonder how well the binoculars do for folks that have eyes that are spaced further apart than mine.

Good pair of binoculars for a safari in the $500-600 range?

Very good optics. Sharpness and clarity excellent for all viewing - both up close and distant. Good case and strap with lens caps for eyepieces as well as the opposite side.

Just got a set of Leupold BX-4 10x42's for $375, is that a good deal compared to the quality of these binoculars? 

Loved the Nikon quality! The locking diopter works great once you get used to it, license plates and house numbers are crisp and easy to read from a block and a half away, my other binoculars don’t come near the clear sharp image I get with the monarch M7 , these will be my go to binoculars when out and about, I also have a Swarovski SLC that I’ve had for years, due to their weight I generally take them camping or places that I don’t have to carry them to far. These Monarch M7s will be taking the hikes with me for sure.

The image is so crisp and clear.

Best binocular under $500?

 The improvement is phenomenal over the old binoculars and these are used practically every day.

I like the quality of the images and the ease of use at a fair price. My wife lives on the Hudson River and her old binoculars had very narrow field of vision and the image wasn't always sharp. These binoculars enable her to clearly see Kayakers over a mile away in detail as well as Eagles over a mile away in detail. Other birds and wildlife are also able to be seen in great detail over long distances
