When you first get the unit wash the cups, lids and blade in warm soapy water, they're, also dishwasher, safe, the lids and blade should be put in the top rack of the dishwasher to clean the base, just wipe it down with a damp cloth and dry.  Push automatic cycle blenders - you're, probably not gon na, like this ninja, if you don't mind pushing down for a minute, it's a decent option for the price. Remember that this is an affordable, personal blender. So if you already have a full-sized blender and just need a smaller one to make yourself smoothies and frozen drinks, then this ninja would work and you're not going to get the silky smooth consistency that you would get with a Vitamix. I really love this blender when it works. I purchased my first Ninja Fit Blender in June of 2017, which I am now having to replace the base now in December of 2017. Not sure if it was just the particular one I got, but the motor no longer powers on and seems to have burnt out or something. I have a blade and six cups now, I wish there was a less expensive option to only replace the base

 I'm not a super huge fan of the fact the blade is essentially going on the bottom of the cup since if you're not super mindful to make sure it's tight, it WILL make a mess. And you can't add to it unless you completely remove it to unscrew the base. Also having to hold down the cup the entire time you're in the blending process does cause some slight fatigue in your hands.  However, as the blending capsule doubles as your cup, it does work out that you have less dishes to clean afterward!  It does a fantastic job at blending up frozen fruits and does it amazingly quick!

Great for making personal smoothies

 It blends ice well. It is loud but this doesn't bother me. Would recommend but if had to buy again I would consider a different model, depending on price.

This is a great blender with two downsides. One -- it is not good at blending the foods at the top. It takes a lot of shaking the foods down to the bottom (towards blade) to get these items blended well. Adding more liquid helps

 Second downfall is that although easy to clean overall, it is hard to clean out the little crevice within the rim around the blade. Food build up there and difficult to get the clear seal out in order to completely clean. Other than these faults, it's a good little blender for one person.
