Hey everyone, I am Ariel, snowboard expert at curated.com and I've helped over hundreds of people find the best gear for them and today I got to ride the Nitro Women's Optisim in a 142 at the beautiful Powder Mountain Resort in Utah.  I feel like this board with that cam out profile is going to give you that pop and really send you to the stars. I was able to take it on some rollers through a border cross track and there was a moment where I looked back and didn't even remember what I did because it was just so much fun and so easy to just ollie and get some really nice air and I would love to take it through a jump line. This board I would not say should be your intro to park board. This board is definitely meant for a more aggressive park rider, someone who knows what they're doing on jumps, someone who knows what they're doing in the air, and someone who wants to have a little bit of extra pop in their jumps

 Because it is an asymmetrical twin our bodies are not symmetrical so a lot of the times we can get further on our toe edge but not so much on our heel edge and with this asymmetrical twin I was actually able to rail harder on my heel side carves which was super super cool. I did take this board through some tighter trees and made some tighter turns with it. I feel like this board is meant for a little bit more of that aggressive rider and someone who truly knows how to work a snowboard under their feet. This board would be great for someone who's looking for a more freestyle oriented board to push their limits

Nitro claims that the Women's Optisim is the official friendly freestyle snowboard with an asym twin and a cam out profile. I struggled a little bit to make it feel playful

2023 Nitro Optisym Snowboard Review | Curated

 Because of the dual digressive side cut and the power pods, power core 2 and whiplash core profile, this is a very lightweight yet very snappy responsive medium flexing board that's built for friendly freestyle snowboarding which means having fun all over the mountain and turning the entire park including the flat ground into a freestyle arena. Has a premium extruded FH base mid-wide so you can really lay down those carves but most importantly if you just want a board that is built to have fun on then this is it, the new friendly freestyle OptiSim.

 Nitro's got their little rail killer tech edge, so it's really thick. So basically, you can beat the crap out of this board, and it's going to hold up for you. So the graphic on this one is a cool little rainbow. Why? Why not? Spread the love

 We found that it locked on really good on rails and boxes. Good stability, good pop on jumps. Got a couple back threes down, little front boards. Feeling really comfortable

 So the steeper heel side cut and it says right here on the board, heel side only. What that's going to do is it's going to allow you to just get on that heel side edge just that little bit quicker. So it makes it a little bit less effort to turn on your heel side. To tell you the truth, I really notice it when I ride switch

NITRO OPTISYM 2022

 So what brands do is they put a deeper heel side side cut in there so it's going to be a little bit more responsive with less effort and what that's going to do is just give the board a more balanced feel because it's a little bit deeper it's going to perform similar to the toe side edge with more power. So less power on a deeper heel side edge gives you the same kind of response as a more powered toe side response. In terms of side cut as well it also uses Nitro's dual digressive side cut. Now what the dual digressive side cut is is they use two different side cut ratios along the length of the side cut but they kind of tend to go the opposite direction as a lot of boards do

 So there you go, the Nitro Optism, if you're after a freestyle focused park board that still rips out and about on the mountain, there you go.

 So what you've got is a thinner section milled out through the middle of the board which is going to create a more playful overall flex through the centre of the board. Then just beyond the bindings it's kind of a little bit thicker and what that's going to do is just kind of strengthen up these parts of the board here so they've got a little bit more life in them so it just adds a bit of pop and power to the length of the board. In terms of structural layers utilises a freestyle friendly Biax glass so that's ruining the weave at 90 degrees and at 0 degrees. What that Biax glass is going to do is allow the board to flex and twist a lot easier, just absorb undulating terrain, just absorb little running bumps and stuff like that

 So the blunt tips remove swing weight from the ends of the board that's just going to give you more feel and control. Getting rid of that weight just gets rid of any inertia at the end and just allows you to control how the board spins and the board not kind of carry on on its own accord. Those blunt tips also have an early rise in them as well. So although it's a twin because of that early rise you've got like a long smooth transition up into the turn

Nitro Optisym 2022 Snowboard Review | The Snowboard Asylum

 You're going to muscle this board just a little bit, not a whole lot, just a little bit. It's almost like you're finessing it when you set down in a tail press or a nose press. You want to push into that board where you can, right ideally where that flex point is out to the tip. And when you do, you get a solid press with it

 Now when you go sideways, it's got that right blend of flex to just really cradle the feature. It doesn't clap out, but it doesn't feel like you're just teeter tottering and doing a balance act. It's wrapping itself right around it and you can just make it to the end of the feature. The other thing that's nice is that camber section does give you pop to get off the end of anything that you're on

 The overall edge to edge transmission is more slow and methodical. It's not like you're going to rip a hard carve. And when you really push this board, you start to realize its limitations that the tail tends to kick out. It just doesn't want to grip

The 2022 Nitro Optisym Snowboard Review

Holy POP! This board is caaammbbeerred! Dont let the detour you, with the softer flexing feel, this board is so springy, and rides every where well! I am 5'9 180Lbs and it fit me well. Super happy with the liveliness and edge hold this board provides when riding all mountain. Never felt unstable, even at high speeds. Asym heel edge cuts real quick too
