If your budget is a little higher and you're looking for a more portable option, you can't go wrong with the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV. Unlike most options on this list, it's part of the Micro Four Thirds (M43) system, so it has a smaller sensor, which means a tradeoff in image quality and low-light performance. However, you'll generally end up paying less for lenses and get a more compact camera system overall. The other advantage of Micro Four Thirds is that even smaller entry-level options like the E-M10 have built-in sensor stabilization, which makes it easier to get stable handheld shots in tricky lighting conditions.

This camera is aimed at beginners, too, so it's very user-friendly. It has a 'Live Guide' feature when using auto mode that lets you adjust aspects of the image in simple terms like background blur, motion blur, and color temperature. The Live Guide is less in-depth than the Nikon D3500's Guide Mode, but it gives beginners a feel for what aspects go into a photo before moving up to shooting in manual mode. Overall, it's one of the best cameras for photography beginners, especially if you're interested in a more compact camera system.

Shooting wildlife on a budget can be tricky, considering how quickly the cost of long zoom lenses can add up. That's why a Micro Four Thirds option like the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV is a fantastic entry-level choice for wildlife photography. As a result of the crop factor, you get longer focal reach out of physically smaller lenses, and there are plenty of affordable lens options available for the Micro Four Thirds system.

Last but not least is the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV, which is one of the best budget mirrorless cameras we've tested. It uses a Micro Four Thirds sensor, so it isn't as well-suited to low-light settings as APS-C options like the Fujifilm X-Pro3 or the Fujifilm X-T30 II. But that smaller sensor makes it incredibly portable, plus it uses smaller Micro Four Thirds lenses, making it a good choice if you want portability but still want the versatility of switching out different lenses.

On top of that, it's got a great in-body image stabilization system, meaning you can get clear handheld shots at slower shutter speeds. The ergonomics on this thing are solid, especially for such a small camera. It doesn't have the most reliable autofocus system, and build quality isn't quite as good as pricier models. But if you're looking for a portable camera kit, the Micro Four Thirds system is a great choice that won't break the bank.

 The weather was very unstable, but yeah, it's very good to test the camera sensor, so overall I think it's pretty good. It resolves detail, it gives punchy color in a very Olympus fashion too It does seem, however, has a little bit more noise at higher Iso settings than the more expensive M5 Mark Iii and the Iman Mark 3. a normal shooting environment is as good as any cameras on the market. I'm also very pleased to say that Olympus new sensor has one of the best dynamic range across the board

 It's also a vastly superior photographic machine than many other entry-level cameras with a capable sensor and rich feature set to match. If you are not fussed about some of the features of missions that I mentioned earlier nor an avid filmmaker or sports journalist, then you'll be rewarded with some of the most beautiful color photo renditions. And don't forget that the Em-10 Mark 4 is also the lightest and most compact Omd cameras currently available, so it's definitely perfect for those who like to travel around and has enough advanced features to follow you in years to come. To me, it's an easy recommendation to any beginner to amateur photographer as well as travelers and casual vloggers

 Then it's video feature set may be good enough to impress smartphone upgraders, but if you look closer, there is no mic input jack for better sound recording. While there's 4k videos, it's restricted to only 25 and 30p and no flat or Om not 400 flat profiles for serious carrying works. And finally, slow mode is reduced to 720p at 120 frames per second just as its older Mark 3 brother, but still better than the Penf640p in 4x3 format. There are other high-end features that are left out too, such as Olympus latest Starry Sky Af live Nd high-res mode are all absent from the Em-10 Mark Iv, just as its older brothers is also not weather sealed so it may not survive in stormy weather situations or having Due Castle for instant backup, which is something that a professional or more serious photographers would look [Music] for

 So it certainly sounds like the latest M10 Mark 4 lacks a lot of stuff, but the truth is that any Olympus Omd cameras have too many features to start with. If you strip away all the tech stuff and focus on pure photography, the Em-10 Mark 4 is more capable and better than ever before. It's also a vastly superior photographic machine than many other entry-level cameras with a capable sensor and rich feature set to match.  This is a non-technical review. You will not see any graphs, charts, or technical comparisons. I'm merely sharing my experience as a professional photographer shooting with the Em-10 Mark Iv. The Em-10 Mark Iv is the direct successor to the Em-10 Mark Iii

 It wasn't even blinking red. I don't know whether the battery capacity improved or is the way that I've shot my images, which is more efficient over the years I've been using Olympus cameras, but I can safely say that you can get five to six hundred shots with a single charge to battery confidently with no [Music] issue. Camera under $600

The 12-60mm kit lens that often comes with it is great though - also weather sealed (although I still wouldn't take it out it anything more than a light drizzle). For all of the above the kit lenses are pretty good, so you won't really need any more until you develop more specialist needs.

General use: Backpacking (40 days thru-hike, weekends in the mountains, active life) &amp; city photography (sightseeing trips, outdoor portraits). Eventually using the camera also as my webcam for better video quality for my webcam calls (no YT vlogging/twitch etc.)

The body: preferably light, but with some kind of weather sealing, flip screen, APS-C /full frame, autofocus, good battery life (or recommending a solution for poor batteries), NFC, HDMI, touch screen. Don´t care about 4k. 

I am aware of Canon EOS M50 Mark II and Sony Alpha a 6x00 series, but frankly both are not ideal. Any further ideas? What about the Sony A7 ii? The problem with Sony is that it does not have a flip screen, which seems to be a big deal for me (selfies, adjustment). I am rather a Canon guy, but ready to change my mind.

Budget: around € 1000

The lenses: I understand that you need 18mm/21mm for good Landscapes, but I will maybe get there later (to have these exclusively wide angles), can you please suggest some lenses suitable for my type of photography (travelling a lot, being outdoor, portraits with blurred background). I would like my photos to look better than my phone (I have the last Samsung Galaxy S20), I reckon that the kit lences are usually not able to compete with these recent phones (iPhone &amp; Samsung). 

Is polarizing filter a thing? Will it help in the mountains? Please recomend some!

Advanced Entry-Level Camera

Considering you should leave some money for lenses, The Om-d E-m10 II's quite handsome and very cheap. I got mine for 200 dollars in a secondhand kamera store, to use as a travel camera though incredible hard to travel nowadays. Then spend the rest for the olympus 25mm f/1.8 and olympus 45mm f/1

I have a decent collection of film cameras but would like to save some money and sanity by getting into a modest digital setup. M4/3 seems like a happy medium between cheap starters and full frame rigs and will be a breeze to adapt lenses to. I have a Olympus OMD E M10 Mark iii kit as my current winner for it’s handling, image stabilization and cool little compact lens but I am open to the wisdom of others.

I have been working as a photographer for a bit over seven years and while a DSLR is what made you a respectable member of the fid seven years ago, we tend to shift towards smaller, high quality packages lately. The mirrorless game and the beasty compact range is blooming and booming. 

What is your low profile high quality solution to have at your side everywhere you go? A camera you can have in your coat's pocket and forget about until there's just the moment you are glad you won't miss.

I recently parted from DSLRs as my personal camera for them being bulky, heavy and I felt restricted by the lack of mobility when carrying it on a strap or in a bag. 

It also intimidates people, seeing a big camera, so I decided to step it down to a high quality, small camera, I can just whip out whenever I feel like it. I have the a6500 with the DC DN Sigma line but that's not small enough so I decided to compromise optical quality and picked up the SELP1655 E PZ for "concealed carry" in my everyday life.
