That said, the smaller sensor also makes it significantly smaller and lighter, so it's a bit easier to carry around for longer periods. On top of that, it has five-axis in-body image stabilization to reduce camera shake. Like the Fujifilm, it has a lot of frame rate options and includes a slow-motion feature that can capture footage at 120 fps for slow-mo playback, although it incurs a significant crop. Autofocus performance is impressive, though it's a bit less consistent than the Fujifilm when tracking faces, so it can occasionally lose track of your face when vlogging. It has a slightly longer battery life, and we didn't experience any overheating issues.

Get the Fujifilm if you want more reliable autofocus and a larger sensor, but if you want the portability of a Micro Four Thirds camera, go with the Olympus.

If you want to buy into a more portable system, consider a Micro Four Thirds option like the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV. While its smaller sensor makes it a bit less suited to low light compared to the Canon EOS M50 Mark II, it also means you can get smaller, more affordable lenses with greater focal reach. This camera is a good option for travel or vlogging thanks to its small size. You can flip its screen all the way down for vlogs and selfies, and it feels decently well-constructed. It delivers impressive image quality and features in-body image stabilization to further reduce camera shake when shooting handheld. It also shoots at a faster 10 fps in its burst mode and has a much larger photo buffer for longer continuous shooting. That said, it's not as comfortable to shoot with, and those with larger hands may find it a bit cramped. Its menu system isn't as intuitive, either.

Get the Canon if you want a camera with a larger sensor for better low-light performance. If you want a greater variety of cheaper lens options, consider the Olympus.

If you want a more portable system, consider getting a Micro Four Thirds option like the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV. This camera is even smaller and lighter than the Canon EOS M50 Mark II by a little bit, and in general, Four Thirds lenses also tend to be smaller and more affordable, so your entire kit will be easier to transport when traveling. On top of that, it has in-body image stabilization, so you can minimize camera shake when shooting handheld regardless of whether or not you use an optically stabilized lens. It's also the better option for travel vloggers for that reason and because it can shoot uncropped 4k video. That said, it doesn't have a fully articulated screen, doesn't feel as comfortable to shoot with, and has a clunkier menu system and user interface.

Get the Canon if you want a budget camera with better ergonomics and a more intuitive user interface. If portability and stabilization are priorities, the Olympus is a great bargain.

If you're looking for a more affordable camera to use for vlogging, the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV is a really good option. Unlike many mirrorless cameras with larger sensors, it has a remarkably lightweight and portable design that won't cause fatigue when vlogging. Though this model doesn't have a fully articulated screen like the more expensive Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III, you can still flip the screen down to face you.

The biggest advantage this camera offers over many competing mirrorless models in this price range is its five-axis IBIS, which does an excellent job of reducing camera shake when recording handheld 4k video and works even better in 1080p. If you like to incorporate slow-motion footage into your vlogs, it includes a high-speed recording mode that can capture video without audio at 120 fps for slow-motion playback. Otherwise, you can record regular footage at up to 60 fps in 1080p and up to 30 fps in 4k, and its overall video quality is great.

Unfortunately, this camera doesn't have a microphone input, meaning you're stuck with the camera's built-in microphone, which will never match a dedicated mic for audio. The camera's autofocus is also unreliable when tracking faces and moving subjects. That said, this is still a great little beginner-friendly camera that'll allow you to shoot vlogs without too much bulk and without breaking the bank.

The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV is one of the best entry-level mirrorless cameras we've tested. This Micro Four Thirds option is very portable and lightweight, and Four Thirds lenses also tend to be smaller and cheaper than other systems, making it a great choice for travel and street photography.

It delivers impressive image quality right out of the box, and images have relatively minimal noise as you raise the ISO, so it's fairly good in low light, despite its smaller sensor. That said, its autofocus system can be inconsistent. It struggles especially at tracking moving faces continuously, as it tends to lose the subject as they move, sometimes even if the face is clearly in view. If you'd prefer something a bit cheaper to capture your travel adventures, consider the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III. It doesn't perform as well as the Sony &alpha;7C in low light due to its smaller sensor, and it has significantly shorter battery life. That said, it's more portable than the Sony, and Micro Four Thirds lenses tend to be both cheaper and smaller than full-frame lenses, allowing you to save even more money. While images don't quite pop as they do on the Sony, this little camera still delivers excellent image quality out of the box. It also has in-body image stabilization to reduce camera shake, and it's advertised to be weather-sealed for more adverse shooting conditions. It also has a fully articulated screen to help you shoot at different angles or record yourself for vlogs, and it can record 4k / 30 fps video without imposing an additional crop. However, there's a significant crop factor because of its sensor, which means you'll need to shoot with wider angle lenses to achieve the same framing you'd get with the Sony.

Get the Sony if you want better overall image quality and better low-light performance. If you want something cheaper and more portable, the Olympus is a good alternative.

The best mirrorless camera for travel vlogging that we've tested is the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III. It's a mirrorless camera with a Micro Four Thirds sensor, making it more compact than most full-frame or crop-sensor options. It's also lightweight and made of premium materials. It even comes with an external flash in the box. Its screen is fully articulated, so you can easily turn it around to face you for self-recording.

It has a five-axis in-body image stabilization feature that does an amazing job of smoothing out camera shake in both 4k and FHD. Its video quality is good overall, but it suffers from a noticeable rolling shutter effect that can distort the image when panning the camera to the side. All in all, its portable size, excellent video stabilization, and good video quality make it well-suited to travel vlogging.

If you'd prefer something even more portable, consider a Micro Four Thirds option like the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III. Because it uses a smaller sensor, it's more compact and lightweight than the Fujifilm X-S10, and it also features an excellent in-body image stabilization feature. The camera is fairly comfortable to shoot with, and it has a fully articulating touchscreen. Video quality is impressive, even in low light, and it has a fairly wide range of frame rate options, including 4k up to 30 fps and 1080p up to 60 fps, along with a slow-motion mode that captures 1080p footage at 120 fps. Its autofocus system isn't quite as reliable for video as the Fujifilm's AF. 

Get the Fujifilm if you want a camera with better overall autofocus and a larger sensor for better low-light performance. However, if portability is your biggest priority, the Olympus is a great alternative.

The Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III is the best camera for sports if you're looking for a lightweight mirrorless option. This Micro Four Thirds camera feels very comfortable to shoot with. It's more lightweight and portable than the Fujifilm X-T4, making it very easy to carry around for longer shooting days and allowing you to get right in the action.

The camera has a fully articulated screen, which is great for getting interesting low-angle shots. It also has built-in stabilization, and it does an amazing job of eliminating jitter and camera shake when shooting video handheld, allowing you to capture smooth action footage. Video quality is excellent in 4k, and it even performs well in low-light, though 1080p quality leaves a little to be desired.

Unfortunately, it can only record 4k video up to 30 fps. If you want high-quality slo-mo footage, an action cam like the GoPro HERO10 Black might be a better fit, but it does have a high-speed capture mode that records in 1080p at 120 fps with slow-motion playback at a range of speeds. Overall, if you want an interchangeable lens camera without too much bulk, this is a great option for recording sport video.

These are the perfect cameras for wildlife photography, thanks to their rugged builds, portable size, and sensor size. Of course, a smaller sensor impacts image quality and low-light ability to some extent, but the 2x crop factor means you can use physically smaller lenses with twice the focal reach of full-frame counterparts. On top of that, you get some of the best built-in stabilization on the market, making it easier to get clear shots at longer focal lengths without necessarily using a tripod.

The E-M1 III can shoot at a blazing fast 15 fps when using the mechanical shutter, but switch over to silent shooting with the e-shutter, and you can shoot at up to 60 fps, great for more skittish wildlife. The autofocus is also quite good, although it isn't as effective as the Nikon's. All of that, combined with some of the best ergonomics of any camera we've tested, makes this one of the best cameras for birding and wildlife at this price point.

Not as good as the Panasonic bodies (due to their implementation of ...

 Olympus have arguably the best in body image stabilisation in the business, they also have some of the best weather sealing getting around. A really great system for landscape photography.

Good camera for a 16yo beginner?

 The dial controls are a real treat to use and the buttons have a tactile feel to them. The swivel screen comes in handy when shooting at waist level or above crowds. Picture quality is excellent and there are a multitude of photo enhancements to choose from. Wish it had an APS-C sensor but the m4/3 has it's advantages too
