 I love it for a wooden handle. You know knife you look at it and you think because of the wooden hand, you're gon na, say man that just doesn't look like it's very strong. Well guess what this thing's pretty strong! This is a tough knife. They give you enough meat inside this wood to have a very, very strong hold on this thing

Before you get angy, I have and love both

Definitely NOT an Every Day Carry. Weight 5.3 oz, length 6", no clip. I am putting it with my camping gear

Typical Opinel excellent quality.

 I have no problem with that, but a knife. This way you can see. It'S pretty big, and this sticks out the end here and my hand is all palm no fingers and you can see it's a pretty big handle and it's rubberized, and it makes for a very good grip. And i like the way that they put the pattern on there kind of a woody pattern on

 They also make a lot of other stuff that i didn't know about. I have a folding saw from them, which works great and is in my bushcraft tool, pouch and of course, i own a number. Eight and it's always on my belt, so let's have a look and see why nobody that i saw who reviewed this really wasn't that impressed with it, and i need to know why. So, let's have a look see and let's see if we can figure it out

 We know the ferro rod works and maybe a 10 peg or a notch or two. So let's do that sorry, coffee, break! It'S been about an hour and that's still hot yay for stanley, so i cleaned it off, it's a little thin, but well, oh yeah. So what do you think yeah? This is pretty soft wood, let's cut through it. Do we want to bludgeon? With this thing, it's meant to be a survival knife

 Very loud - and i think they did say it's 110 decibels, which is very loud, so there's your help me whistle or alerting, whistle or whatever you want to call it. Let'S see how that fire starter works. This is a stainless steel blade and i did notice in a lot of the comments on reviews and things like that. They said stainless

There's more to knives than raw specs

 The blade came sharp, but as a professional sharpener, I made it sharper up to 10,000 grit utilizing a Chocera stone. The blade length is more like a #10 Opinel - which is fine for me. The locking mechanism works well - even better than wood handle Opinels which opens with a bit more resistance. The lanyard works well

 Handle grip texture is comfortable. I have the green handled one.  Negatives: The metal used for the lanyard / gut hook is pitifully poor. I tried improving the edge with a DMT diamond rod getting it just marginally better

 As is, it still won't even cut paper, making it useless. I would STRONGLY recommend using another metal instead of what was used. Carbon steels or other stainless / inox would be a marked improvement. This metal markedly degrades the quality of the knife

Gut hook is inadequate otherwise good

 Now this guy up here also has that Sandvik steel, which is a great steel. You know, particularly at the price point, much better than like eight CR thirteen MOV and, I would even say better than most SH you're gon na find out there. So it's definitely a step up. You'Re, looking at three point: nine five inches overall full flat grind: we've got a ninety degree spine on here, the nail Nick to open it and there's a really well-designed, really nice slicer

 You know just the normal one and save yourself like 30 bucks, so not impressed. I will have links in description below over to Amazon for these. If you are really interested in these and want to give it a shot, you do see some sort of value with that gut hook. I do not at all, or you are interested in other open else, I'll throw in some of my favorite open, LSAT, really inexpensive prices in the links below over Amazon

 So that's pretty heavy for a knife, particularly in comparison like a folding knife compared to these guys over here and you're, looking at over 6 inch handle made out of a polymer material that is very grippy very ergonomic really like the air goes on it, but it Is ginormous just to run in some perspective here here? Is the more cans Bowl love this fixed blade? This guy weighs four point: nine ounces. This guy weighs like five five point, one so same weight for the entire package, I'm talking with the sheath, the more cans Bowl and the more is gon na have a longer blade and a more natural sized, more well balanced handle just to give us some perspective. This is a k-bar Becker BK to the handle on this open. L is longer than a Becker BK, which is just crazy the size

 For me, the design is not there for me. Yes, the blade is a great slicer, so I would just go get a number 12. You know just the normal one and save yourself like 30 bucks, so not impressed. I will have links in description below over to Amazon for these

I've had many expensive knives (all good) but my favourite is this simple $8 Opinel #7 French cheese knife which has lived in my pocket for nearly 20 years.
