 I Like these external Cardinal areas I Like to be able to grab things as I'm hiking. you can see it's not very wide. It says why does the day pack and then a tapers down So it creates this little pocket here but I was able to get a variety of things inside there and so you could take a put a map in there. your sunscreen, lip balm, things like that

 Okay, look at this t-shirt It's upside down, the guy's anticipating or the person, the girl or while we're riding this bike Cepeda A little crash there and they're ready to make sure that their bike is okay. That's pretty funny. Number three, sorry for what I said while we were trying to park the camper her weight the wristlet and this is my experience growing up with my dad backing up our little camper. And yes, totally relate back to Number Three number two

 It's about about half way down the pack here. for this pocket you can see inside here there's two mesh pockets so you're gonna put your keys in here. It does have a key holder right here. put your keys in there

 that's the only thing I could think of to do is to click it and then just secure it down like that and kind of get that out of the way. Well, you can remove this strap. The buckle will stay here, see that the buckle will end up staying on there. That's just the way it's designed, but you can get the strap up if you don't really don't want the strap on

OSPREY Daylite Plus Day Pack REVIEW

You've just arrived at your hostel (or hotel if that's how you roll), set yourself up in your room and decided to head out for some sightseeing for the day. Grab some food, maybe a few beers, check out some temples, take a few photos, wander down to a park maybe and get the lie of the land.

What's in your daypack, what tricks and tips do you have to bring that makes things go a bit smoother?

For me, some of the things that live in there more or less full time:

* Power bank for the phone and cable, in a little waterproof dry bag.
* Earbud headphones for the phone
* Reading glasses (I'm in my mid 40's and going blind at close range)
* Toilet paper (a game changer and life saver in Asia, Africa, the ME, and Latin America, and even occasionally in more developed countries as well)
* Shemaug (or sarong or similar broad cotton scarf for women). It's a blanket, towel, sweat rag, sling or bandage, and modesty and face covering for temples etc all in one, plus an extra cross body sling bag in an emergency
* Pen and pencil and small notepad
* Water bottle
* A constantly rotating supply of small snacks

If rain looks likely a small travel umbrella gets added in. If it's a 'travel day' featuring a bus or ferry to the next location, a hoodie gets added in instead. If I know in advance I'll be swimming, maybe also a Go-Pro or waterproof camera gets tossed in.

On my person I also always bring:

* Mobile phone with maps pre-loaded
* Wallet (2 x spare cards stashed back at the hostel) with 2 x cards, 2 x condoms, and ID
* Bottle opening carabiner (I drink a lot of beer, and have never gotten the hang of opening bottles with another bottle)

Notably, I don't use sunglasses, or a fancy Camera, and never take a rain shell unless I'm out hiking. The Waterpoof camera is only to take underwater shots at the beach, waterfalls, rock pools, snorkeling, cenotes etc.

As a travel minimalist, what lives in your travel daypack, more or less permanently? Any hacks to share? What about on your person otherwise?

 It's also means have to keep more things in the main compartment, all jumbled together.  But, if my deal-breakers aren't important to you, it may be a great bag. The straps are well-designed, and the laptop pocket is padded. I've been carrying my laptop in an older Osprey bag which has a very similar pocket without padding (probably not originally designed for a laptop) and I do really like that bag

 Sure, there's two open-top mesh pockets, and the one on the front, but those aren't ideal for many things. If it were meant to be just a hiking pack, I'd forgive the lack of commuter-friendly organizational features, but it's a laptop bag. If I'm carrying a laptop, I probably have other things I'd like to organize - pens, chargers, cables, phone, bandaids, meds, cards. This doesn't have a single place I could put a few business cards or things I'd like to keep flat, and no non-mesh, zippered pockets to protect things I'd like to keep dry & dirt-free

 This pack would've been great, I mean, it's well-constructed, lots of space, some good features. Unfortunately, it's sorely lacking in inner zippered pockets and I have to return it. Sure, there's two open-top mesh pockets, and the one on the front, but those aren't ideal for many things. If it were meant to be just a hiking pack, I'd forgive the lack of commuter-friendly organizational features, but it's a laptop bag

 The straps are well-designed, and the laptop pocket is padded. I've been carrying my laptop in an older Osprey bag which has a very similar pocket without padding (probably not originally designed for a laptop) and I do really like that bag. The stiff-ish foam backing of the pack makes it easier to manage getting the laptop in/out, and also means the bag looks ok and still distributes weight even when I'm only carrying a few small items.  There's also a really excellent lifetime repair/replace guarantee - I'd contacted Osprey about repairing my rather old bag (which they would, or replace if they couldn't) and, though I ultimately decided to just get a new pack, my interaction with their service team left me with a good impression of the company

Dangit, so close to being great..

 So first off, you've got, of course it's going to be on the other side. You've got a little front pocket on the front. Traditional, you know, hip strap. Should I say just a bit of inch webbing? one inch webbing on there

 which is really, really cool. Anyway, let's take a closer look at the key features. So first off, you've got a nice front pocket on here. It's got a zipper on there, which means whatever you pop in there will stay safe and secure

 Um, there's lots of space inside here using the jelly pouch, the front pocket, the the kind of the front pocket on the top there. and then you've got the main thing there's there's basically there's lots of things you can put in here and organize your kit properly. and the fact that you have compression straps on the side as well means everything's safe and secure. And if you're just after a day bag to go for a hiking trip, so you want to go hiking for the day, you don't necessarily want a massive traditional bag or you want a bag where you can wear it obviously commuting, but also as well you can take it on a hiking adventure

 And so basically this really is ideal if you are carrying slightly heavier loads or if you're backpacking for a long amount of time and you just want to help lift that weight up and make it more comfortable around your hip system. Lift that up, clip that on, tighten now and then. Hey, Presto. It's just going to help alleviate some of that pressure from the overall weight

Osprey Daylite Plus Backpack | Gear Review

The comfiest backpack I've ever had. If I'm doing a serious dayhike, this is the bag I'm taking.

Sharing my silly bag problem with my fellow addicts. I gathered up all of my various bags and pouches, and it made me realize how ridiculous things have gotten. Might be time to downsize my collection. Sharing a few of my favorites and will add a full list in the comments.

 Overall: It is an okay day pack for hiking. And will continue to use it until I find something with the Futures I'm looking for. Don't let my review scare you though. Picture shows mesh pocket with only a 20oz smartwater bottle in it

 Sternum straps extremely long with no way to keep them from flopping all over your chest. (I used small pieces of Velcro to secure them. Overall: It is an okay day pack for hiking. And will continue to use it until I find something with the Futures I'm looking for

Pros: Very well ventilated shoulder straps and backing. Sleek design with nice cinch straps. Nice size main compartment and mid pocket. Zippers don't snag and seem of very good quality with pull attachments on each zipper(very nice not chintzy)

Day hiker review

 This pack was purchased by me on a complete whim without any of the usual research and preparation that goes into me choosing a new piece of gear. and I have to say that I have absolutely loved it over the last four years of using it. So in this video, I want to do a much more in-depth review to give you my thoughts over those four years of hiking on this what I think is definitely one of the best day packs on the market. Now, if you're a beginner and you're still trying to figure out all the things you need to about this thing that we call hiking, chances are you've been walking around gear shops for a little while, or perhaps even searching online and trawling through forums as to exactly what is the best day pack for hiking? Well, I'm here to confess to you that I have only ever used one day pack for hiking in my entire last three years since I started this channel

 But I have to say that I've hiked with this pack on some very hot days and I've never really noticed that my back is sweating overly much from using this pack at the end of the day. Despite the fact that they look it, they really aren't deep enough to carry a full bottle of water in. and I find that when I do manage to stash a bottle of water in those side pockets, if I just bend over slightly while I'm hiking during the day, often my bottles are falling out. That being said, though, when you combine those side pockets with the straps that attach that front expandable pouch, this becomes a great place to store some of those longer items such as tripods and even treating poles if you're not always using them through the day

 and I find that when I do manage to stash a bottle of water in those side pockets, if I just bend over slightly while I'm hiking during the day, often my bottles are falling out. That being said, though, when you combine those side pockets with the straps that attach that front expandable pouch, this becomes a great place to store some of those longer items such as tripods and even treating poles if you're not always using them through the day. Aside from that, the only other real issue that I have with this pack is something that's not really Osprey's fault because it's not advertised as such, but I do miss the fact that it is not weather resistant or waterproof. If I go out hiking with this pack on a day hike and I know that the forecast is going to be for rain, then I know that I have to use a special pack liner inside to keep all of my gear dry

 Also incorporated into the shoulder straps is a nice little grab handle, which isn't too obtrusive. I'm not a big fan of having a massive grab handle on the top of a pack, but I like this one because I can still grab it quickly if I need to, but it's actually built into the strapping and harness system and as I mentioned a little bit earlier in the video, if I am carrying those heavier loads, I can always use the attached belt strap to take a little bit less of the weight off of my shoulders and put it more on my hips. It is worth noting that that belt strap is completely removable if you're somebody who prefers not to have that on a day hike pack. All in all, over the last three or four years of using this pack as my main day hiking pack, I've really come to enjoy it and love it

Very uncomfortable at the back of the neck

 I don't. Really, I don't treat it like gold. I mean, why should you? You know it's a backpack. it's a hiking backpack

 All right. So here are the pros: I think this backpack has a lot of room in it, and it's surprising of how much stuff you can actually fit into this backpack. So usually when I would go hiking, my supply list would include my drone, my controller, extra batteries, five, four to five batteries, two to three liters of water, a lunch, you know, my camera, my Gopro camera equipment, and all of that stuff together would probably be around eight to ten pounds somewhere around there. There were times when I was actually hiking some trails and it was kind of cold outside and I brought an extra you know, layer of clothing, sweater, whatever

 You know it's gonna be close to really really comfortable or anywhere in between. And on the scale of one to ten, ten being the most comfortable is one being the least comfortable. This is probably a seven, you know, seven, eight ish depending on how much weight I have on it. Okay, so what is the ultimate verdict? Will I be taking this thing? Will I be hiking with it on future hikes? Or am I just going to dump it Or just give it away to somebody and never think about it ever again? Well you probably already know the answer

 You know Now another con would be the shoulder straps. You know my day hikes would consist of anywhere from like five to eight hours and after a while they would start to it would they would start to wear on me on my shoulders. But I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a backpack out there where you're 100 comfortable on the shoulders at all times. Um, I think you're you're you're It's the I think the comfort level is just gonna range
