Osprey Renn 50 Women's Internal Frame Backpack

  On the smaller size, though not really a con since you buy the pack that best fits you and best meets your needs (or multiple packs for multiple needs—i.e. a 2-nighter vs. a 5-nighter or a summer hike versus a winter hike with bulkier clothes, sleeping bags, etc)  Good price for such a good pack

 Zippered pockets always a nice touch for a Cliff bar or map etc. These ones are a noticeably bigger than the ones on our old packs, which is a nice change.  Organization: Pretty traditional/basic. This isn’t the pack with lots of bells and whistles and mini-pockets etc

 Short version is this is an excellent mid-size pack, well made, well constructed, and comfortable. Though of course that last is highly individual—try it on (with weight and walking some distance instead of around your living room) before taking it out on that four-night overnighter!  Pros: Torso adjustment: No excuse nowadays to buy a pack without a good torso adjuster (if you’re still using an ancient pack without an easily -adjustable torso length, it’s way past time to upgrade!). This one has a good range and is easy to use It’s well ventilated off the back (tension keeps it off your back for more air flow)  Lightweight: certainly way lighter than your 15-year-old pack I’d guess and ligheter than most modern ones as well.  Straps: again, something of personal preference

excellent value, good quality pack

 Holds just what you need for a week trip. The extra space of a 55L or 60L would have been ideal so as not to play Tetris every time I needed to retrieve something. However, if you pack according to what you'll need when you'll need it, this will work out just fine. One down fall is the side pockets aren't secure all the way around

 Overall, it is a comfortable and sturdy pack and does not cause pain in my neck and shoulders.

I purchased this for my petite 5’1” daughter for her first hike ever. It fit her well and comfortably.
